TWO NEW FACES AT THE TOON
321x461-fernandoarceOK.jpg

Alan Shearer today announced the double signing of Mexican winger Fernando Arce, and Danish midfield enforcer Christian Poulsen. Arce, who has represented Mexico 42 times, with 7 goals, has spoke of his immense delight to finally test himself in a higher standard of league. The fee is rumoured to be around 5.5m.

Poulsen, who has joined on a loan-to-buy from Italian giants Juventus, has appeared 64 times for Denmark, and is one of the first names on Morten Olsen's team. He said he is happy to finally be away from Turin, which he said was the biggest mistake of his career. The Toon Army can purchase him for 4m at any time should they deem his spell successful.

Jack Rodwell was the star as Everton ran out deserved 3-0 winners at Goodison Park. Rodwell scored two fantastic goals, after James Vaughan opened the scoring early on. Newcastle never got started, and it's back to the drawing board for Shearer.

We were outplayed against a very good Everton side. We never looked like scoring, and no-one performed to their ability.

400_x_300.jpg

Newcastle United picked up their first points of the season, as they edged past Bolton at St. James' Park. Jonas scored the opener, after a mazy run through the Bolton defence. Andy O'Brien then equalised from a corner. Jonas scored his second with a looping header from the edge of the box. Bolton's Kevin Davies then levelled again, with a powerful effort from 15 yards. The second half begun, and Davies scored again, from 30 yards. Fabricio Coloccini then equalised in the 68th minute from a corner. Yannick Djalo popped up on the 77th minute to score what turned out to be the winning goal, with a wonderful run from half way before slotting home from close range.

A much better performance, the team looked so much more active, everyone played a vital role. Now, we need to shore the defence up.

SHEARER 'DISGUSTED' WITH DERBY PERFORMANCE

Alan Shearer said he was 'disgusted' with his sides performance in today's Tyne-Wear derby. Newcastle were defeated 2-0 at the Stadium of Light, with England reject Darren Bent and Kenwyne Jones scoring the goals. The fans have criticized hapless centre half Mike Williamson, who was surprisingly called to the starting XI in place of Steven Taylor.

We were really poor today. It looks as if our away form is going to be a problem. Mike Williamson will be put into reserves after a very poor performance that cost us 3 points.

Hopefully you'll get much better results in the upcoming matches. Nice story and great layout mate! (H)

SHEARER BRANDS CARLING CUP 'POINTLESS'
alan-shearer-pic-getty-image-1-579301220.jpg

Alan Shearer today caused an uproar after he branded the Carling Cup as pointless. He said it is little more than a chance for the bigger clubs to turn out reserve teams, and he has no burning desire to go all the way.

ALAN SHEARER
The Carling Cup is simply a reserve cup to the bigger teams. I personally find it pointless. I will be happy if we win it, but I have no burning desire to make it to Wembley.

There have been mutterings that the FA will give the former England star an official warning for the outburst, but insiders believe there are some members of the FA that share Shearer's view.

CARROLL LATE SHOW SAVES TOON

Andy+Carroll.jpeg

Andy Carroll's late goal was enough to see a below-par Newcastle win at Griffin Park. Brentford hardly saw the ball, but surprisingly took the lead through Leon Legge in the 6th minute. Danny Guthrie's superb strike on 38 mins pulled Toon level, but it took until the 90+3 minutes for Newcastle to kill the game off. A sublime pass from Arce to Carroll, who turned to goal, unleashing a drive into the top left corner. Youngsters Haris Vuvkic, Dorian Dervite, Jean-Alain Fanchone and Raul all featured, with only the former not playing the full 90.

Poor performance, but I saw this as a chance to play some of my reserves/youth players. Vuckic looked good, as did Dervite, Fanchone and Raul.

TOON COMPLETE DOUBLE YOUTH SIGNINGS
Benfica-segura-Roderick-e-Nelson-Oliveira.jpg

It was confirmed on nufc.co.uk that Newcastle United have completed a triple swoop for Roderick Miranda, a central defender from Benfica, the loan signing of Sergio Oliveira from Porto, and the agreement to sign Luigi Vitale from Napoli. The combined fee for the three is around 800k, with the Oliveira loan contract having a 1m buy clause for the Toon should they see enough to make it permanent.

SPIDERMAN SAVES THE DAY

NEWCASTLE 2 - 1 WEST HAM UNITED

PA-8474148.jpg

Jonas' double strike earned Newcastle the three points at St James' Park tonight. The first half was a dull affair, with neither side really getting the upper hand. Jonas made the breakthrough just after the interval, with a mazy run, and a close-range finish. Then, 19 minutes later, Jonas doubled his money, with a looping header beyond Rob Green. Diamanti pulled one back for the Hammers, but it was too little too late.

View attachment 74978

A solid performance, nothing spectacular, but three points in the bag. Jonas again provided the performance, with 4 goals in 4 games in the league. He seems to fit in superbly well in this formation.

AUGUST ROUND-UP

After my first real month at Newcastle, it's now time for my first monthly evaluation. This will include players, matches and transfers.

MATCHES

EVERTON 3-0 NEWCASTLE
View attachment 74996

A disastrous start to the new season. At this point, however, I didn't have the players I wanted in. Still, should have performed much better than this.

NEWCASTLE 4-3 BOLTON (Jonas[2], Coloccini, Djalo)
View attachment 74997

A fantastic game. We showed character after falling behind in the 2nd half, although we should have been clear of Bolton before the break. Plenty to take from this, but plenty to criticize.

SUNDERLAND 2-0 NEWCASTLE
View attachment 74998

Honestly, I would rather lose 3-0 to Everton than lose 2-0 to these. Our first derby game, and we didn't turn up, plain and simple.

CARLING CUP
BRENTFORD 1-2 NEWCASTLE(Guthrie, Carroll)
View attachment 74999

A sub-par performance, but I had 4 reserve/youth players on the pitch, who all had good games. We got through, that's the main thing.

NEWCASTLE 2-1 WEST HAM(Jonas[2])
View attachment 75000

Another win, very solid performance, in which we could and probably should have scored 3 or 4.

LEAGUE TABLE
View attachment 74992

Sat 10th, could be higher, but mid-table is good at this point of the season. Hopefully we can keep up with the pack, and hopefully push towards the top 7.

PLAYERS
View attachment 74994

Some good performances this month, but also some poor ones. Unsurprisingly, the defence as a whole performed poorly, and still needs to find the 'brick wall' style that helped win the CC Championship.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

View attachment 74995

It couldn't have been anyone else. 4 goals in 4 games, 2 MoM performances, and has been the key to our current position. His form has earned him an Argentina call-up.

GOAL OF THE MONTH
View attachment 74993

Yannick Djalo's goal against Bolton was voted Goal of the Month. A very good goal to clinch the three points.

TRANSFERS

View attachment 75002

A lot of activity in the market, with eighteen players in, 24 out. 13 of the players are younger players, brought in to hopefully progress into the future stars. the five 'big' signings were tactically important, to give me the strength I needed to mount a challenge in mid-table.

Nicolas Otamendi - 4.5m from Velez - DC
View attachment 75003

Will serve as a rotational DC, and will eventually become my first choice DC over time. A good price for one of the best young DC on FM10.

Fernando Arce - 5.5m from Santos Laguna - AMRC
View attachment 75004

Solved my problem at AMR, gives me much needed quality on that side. International player, and 5.5m could prove to be a shrewd investment.

Ariel Ibagaza - 4m from Villarreal - AMLC
View attachment 75005

Will give me the creative midfielder which I sorely need. 32 now, but his stats are still good, and could help me progress.

Milan Badelj - 2m from NK Dinamo - AM RLC
View attachment 75006

For 2m, this could be my star signing. His stats are already increasing, and he is very versatile. At 20, he can only get better.

How is your chemistry with all those new players. Some of them do look nice though and should add depth to your team.
