What GC is getting at is that he has much less about him without his physical prowess. You can see Messi being scholesesque in the ability to dominate a game at 36+ you cannot say the same of Ronaldo. No matter how good you are with your body, you decline quicker physically in football than mentally/technically

Yeah but Messi is just awesome not only because of his technical attributes but also for his acceleration and agility.

And Mike you can read my every post, I have said when both Regress Messi will still be a better player. All I'm saying is Ronaldo wont decline so early as people are saying here. Thats it. I never denied Messi will still be a better player even in one post.

I dont think its a case of people saying he will be declining early, more that he wont have much left when he starts to decline.

Compared to Messi? yes. Compared to others? Very much debatable. He has awesome shot from distance, Clinical in front of goal. Will see how it goes. But I'm sure we wont be seeing them declining any time soon.

Wooo i wouldnt call him clinical. Ronaldo scores lots of goals because he takes a LOT of shots. At 30+ there's a whole raft of players, namely the clever technical ones

He takes lot of shots as he tries from impossible angles. In the box he is clinical tbh.

I watched El Classico from start to finish and I don't usually watch much spanish football. I thought that first half Guardiola had gotten tactics wrong as he played Messi in the False 9 (which is great IMO) but he had Sanchez who likes to get the ball before he cuts in most of the time and Fabregas who is another midfield player. It left them with no man to thread balls through to like they usually have with Villa and Pedro cutting in from the channels. The equalising goal was a superb piece of play by Messi followed by Sanchez staying more central and finishing beautifully.

Pep made a great change second half IMO by pushing Alves further up which gave Messi/Iniesta/Xavi more targets to aim at when they got it. They taught Madrid a lesson second half and were deserving winners despite big game player Ronaldo missing two sitters.

Sorry if I have repeated anything already said, havent read through the thread previously

111 goals in 112 appearances for Madrid..

This season 25 goals in 23 games.

He has scored 5 hat tricks in 16 league games, most hat tricks in a single season is 6. Awesome record.

Villarreal sacked Garrido last night, finally, ending his 22 month reign as the head coach.

Club statement - "Juan Carlos Garrido has tonight stopped being the coach of Villarreal's first team after the 2-0 cup defeat against Mirandes. The club thanks the Valencian tactician for all his efforts and dedication and wishes him luck in his future career.''

I would put my savings on Manzano being relieved directly after the next match for Atleti, he had this run of games regardless to try and steady a ship for a young coach to come in. He's failed to even progress ot the last 16 of the CDR, he is as good as fired.

Both sackings I expected, as for potential replacements the smart money for the next Atleti boss would be Pantic with Baraja assisting or the current front runner Diego Simeone probably with Pantic assisting.

Good move for Atleti to revert to the young coach policy, Quique should never have been let go because my money would be on him becoming the next Villarreal coach.

Other names to look out for in regards to Villarreal are Laudrup/Mel, an outside bet for Atletico is Benitez but they just can't give him the financial assurances he's looking for.

Aguirre would be next on the 'sack list' but Zaragoza simply can not afford to sack him so they're stuck with him.

Barrada at Getafe is a name to watch and remember, he's been recommended to Real Madrid by Zidane himself.

Sociedad released a statement a few days ago saying Griezmann would be sold for a 'worthy' bid in January, has to be PL interest in him there just has to be.

Barral to Sevilla in January is another deal to keep an eye on, looks like that deal could be brokered pretty soon.

Manzano was under fire for a couple months now, as a matter of fact Simeone quit as Racing head coach a few days ago, presumably in order to take over at Aleti. Of course in the end the wait was shorter than expected. I mean, seriously, a third division side knocking them out of the CdR?

I think Ronaldo has been ok in the 2nd half, and had Madrid's best chance in the 1st half. He hasn't been the best finisher tonight, but his movement has been good, should have just got an assist from Benzema, but fail finish.

He was OK, but he's got few chances, he needed to convert at least one. And when he tried to score with backhill instead to pass to Benzema. Sometimes he can be really selfish ( especially when he doesn't score). But credit to Malaga as well, they stopped him with clever fouls ( 2 yellows for fouls on Ronaldo me thinks).

Not sure where to put this... But alright;

Watch Villarreal against Valencia; really good end-to-end stuff.

2-0 to villarreal. Think this is the end of Valencia's title challenge.

is it just me , or do i think the El classico now days has lost its taste

Barca lost 3-2 against Osasuna. If Madrid wins tomorrow they will extend the gap to 10 points. League is as good as over.

Sad to see Barca playing so badly at the moment as they're the best team I've ever seen in my lifetime (I reckon they'll do brilliantly in Champions league though). Real Madrid looked great yesterday against Levante. Ronaldo's 3rd goal was superb!

Love the commentating on Barca v Valencia.. "Well, I know Soldado has a larger nose than most centre-forwards."

I liked when the commentator said.. "He's been booked for his protestations.", meaning his over exuberant protests.

Love it when they make up words aha.
