Liverpool sack Benitez

Done himself any favours? He's been constantly getting us into semi-finals, and finishing 2n in the league, when we deserved to win the league, he's made some bad decisons, like transfers, but all managers have, you have to make bad decisions to make good ones. People don't think of him buying Reina, Mascherano, Agger, Arbeloa, Garcia, Alonso Etc ; but only just on him buying Cisse, Morientes & Aquilani

The team that finishes top of the league deserves to win the league

lol any news on Rafa's future?
as it stands they've offered a 3 million severance deal. if i was him, i'd tell them to stick it. if they're gonna force him out then stump up the cash.

Who will replace him ?
Manual Pelegrini just after being sacked from Real and wants a challenge in a new country would be great for liverpool

when i say bad desitions i mean on the pitch with selections etc and off the pitch with the whole facts rant that was just not needed. i wont slam him for his transfers because every manager makes bad signings thats just how it goes. something must have gone wrong liverpool seemed slowly to be making progress but just havent took advantage of it and i belive its 3 partys are to blame benitez/board/players. the fans are sensational, but you got to realise liverpool used to be a side that won trophies every season and they still hold on to that which is fine but i belive you can only move forward when you drop the past and try and move forward. liverpool need a new start with a new board, new manager and some new players if done properly they will be back no dout about that.

Out of the frying pan and into the fire springs to mind there, lol. If Liverpool are to be sold by the end of the year (as one of the owner's said in a telephone call to Sky Sports the other day -- though this could be another lie) any manager coming in would have to seriously consider the fact they would be very likely to get the boot. I can't see any big-name going for the job until the ownership is sorted out -- it's just too dodgy. Wouldn't be surprised if someone like Dalglish was put in temporary charge, as a new manager would have big shoes to fill in the eyes of the supporters -- even more so in current circumstances. It also seems pointless of the owners to pay big wages for a manager like Pelegrini -- why not just keep Benitez if this is the case?

Good points their, Liverpool seems to be a very complicated place at the moment and no offense but I'm delighted I'm not a Liverpool fan, My dad is and he is losing hope in the side and finds it hard to watch them these days.

Protest set for Thursday

A protest will be held at Anfield tomorrow. Fans are asked to gather at Anfield for 6pm.

Though the timing is close to news that Rafael Benitez has been offered a deal to leave Anfield the event is related to the ownership of Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

History will be kind to Rafael Benítez who won the trophy that still evades Wenger and Chelsea.

Many have already happened, but all on match days. 6PM isn't a good time, should've been a bit later 7PM so more can go after work Etc. I won't be going, have revision session all day D:

If there is a protest does that mean Liverpool will be buying scarves in these colours. :P

Sky sources understand that discussions are under way over the future of Rafa Benitez as Liverpool manager.

It is believed that the Anfield board are ready to try and replace the Spaniard in the wake of a dismal season for the Merseyside outfit.

Benitez only recently signed a new long-term contract at Liverpool and would be entitiled to a significant severance package if he were to be shown the door.

The Reds, who have refused to comment on the reports, are said to be prepared to offer the former Valencia boss, who came to the club in the summer of 2004, a £3million pay-off to walk away.

There have even been some unconfirmed rumours on Merseyside that the coach, who led the club to UEFA Champions League glory in 2005, has already been sacked.

Benitez's agent refused to discuss reports the Spaniard is set to depart for pastures new.

Speculation
Manuel Garcia Quilon said: "We don't know anything more than what's being said. We're not saying anything."

With owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks trying to sell the debt-ridden club, sources on Merseyside report that only around £5million is available to spend on new players, which would prevent significant strengthening.

The Reds boss, who is currently on holiday, has been the subject of intense speculation as to whether he will depart Anfield this summer, with Inter Milan reported to be interested in his services.

Liverpool were expected to mount a serious challenge on all fronts in the season just finished after finishing second in the Premier League in the previous campaign and appearing to have a squad capable of delivering their first title since 1990.

However, the campaign was a huge disappointment, with the club finishing seventh in the Premier League, crashing out of the UEFA Champions League at the group stage and being dumped out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle by Reading, before a defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals in the Europa League.

In what has been a turbulent year, with the futures of key players Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres also in doubt, Liverpool's board may already be looking for a new manager to replace Benitez, with Turkey boss Guus Hiddink one man reportedly in the frame.

Our owners don't turn up to the ground without a police escort and heavy security as it is, and haven't been for quite some time. I think they're under no illusions about the feeling of the fans for them. We don't need blue and white scarves to make that point ;)

Rafa had not been sacked, he should be, but he hasn't been. Liverpool can't afford his pay-out clause.

I dont see what all this anti hughes talk is about, hes got a proven record on a limited budget, and the players he has now are much better than what he had at blackburn, i dont know why you all think hes so bad!!
