im probs bein think here but what cccs stand for lol :L

Its a clear cut chance. These will tell you that you have got the ball onto a player being in a good position to have a clear shot at goal. Now, this player can still be using his wrong foot, be out of balance or being under pressure and it will still be considered as a CCC.

i dont think thats true, im not looking for like 10-20 cccs a game or anything, im looking for mainly cccs instead of just random long range shots

To get high possession you have to give up some good through balls and key passes to less risky easy pass. So when using every good through ball chance, you have higher chance for CCCs but less possession. With weak team like Blackpool it is very hard to have both.

heres what im doing ive got the defender in the box on each player with a spare

Yah I can help ya as Im trying to get as Barca style play as possible with Barcelona, using 4-5-1 formation.. :)

My problem is that I'd like to keep Messi as Trequartista, what means the game would be around him yet I want Xavi to be the centre of things. I fail to get my team-mates to play via Xavi, dunno how I could make him to be ''everywhere''.

To get Xavi to pass alot try

Passing short
through centre
Playmaker :)

im not sure that would be enough, you will also need your central defenders to do slightly more risky passing so that they dont just hit it out wide to the LB/RB

you dont have to give up good through balls at all, you just risk losing the ball less and wait for the best opportunities. as Brian Clough once said 'If your opponents dont have the ball, they cant score' so a possession tactic for a weak time like Blackpool is perfect as it limits the opponents to very few chances

youre welcome to make a tactic and prove me wrong :)

Got a bit more battered in that game :P BUT i think there was a few reasons for it, they kept hitting long rush balls at me and won lots of corners, so maybe my defensive line is a bit too high up, so maybe the team should be slightly more defensive with a deeper back line. Also some of my players panicked a little when there wasnt a pass on and hoofed it either upfield where their defense won it or out of play, if they kept keep ball i probably would of got a draw, so need to wait for them to learn the tactic a bit more :)

You wait for the best opportunities, which means you have only few opportunities. Some chances might become CCCs even though the attack doesn't look so promising. If you don't use some of those opportunities, you are not going to score a lot with a weak team.

risking possession for a half chance though, which more than likely wont be finished by weak strikers is giving stronger opposition possession which could result in them scoring, yeah you risk scoring very few goals, but you also improve your chances of not conceding either

I think that you are both talking about the same thing. The only difference is that you have different definitions of " large possession", many CCCs and " many goals" etc etc.

I think we all agree on that its a good thing refusing the opponent having possession in midfield and in our half. we can also agree on that its good to keep possession in the final third rather than in our defence. This is the key, the quality of possession and this is where it gets tricky with a poor team, having possession in advanced positions and to able to convert it. if our defenders have lesser anticipation then the opponents striker has flair, if our midfielders have poorer decision stat and our front men have poorer off the ball than the opponents anticipation and positioning, then it is hard

Personally, i never look at the possession stat as a whole, but where we keep possession and if we are able to restrict the opposition to keeping possession in their half/ with us having most men behind the ball.

i think its a case of english tactics v spanish tactics really...both work just fine, but theyre both very different also

Spain like to keep hold of the ball and wait for opportunities, while England like to be attacking, as they say, attack is the best form of defensive

My argument is because of the team i watch week in and week out though, Swansea have very few stars in their team, but the way they play means that they can stop bigger teams with better players destroying them

Agree, but letting the opposition keep the possession in their own half isn't maybe the best option, if you want to have many CCCs, winning the ball quickly means that you have more possession and more chances to score, if that possession is used correctly. After all, it is a tactical choise if you want to win the ball back quickly or taking less risks when defending and rather secure your own goal more carefully.

My suggestion, if wanting to construct a non exploiting stable tactic that keeps possesion in advanced positions as well as restrict the opponenst to having their share of possession on none dangerous areas would be someting like this

Step 1. Use the Tc
step 2 - Set up a 4231 with 2 MCs
Step 3 - Use Balanced - Attack, any roles will do as they will be set later
Step 4 - Finish the tactic
Step 5 - Fixate the width, d-line and closing down so that they stay this way no matter what changes we make
Step 6 - Change the Strategy to Defensive
Step 7 - Set the Closing down so that they are all on the first notch of "Whole pitch"

Here, we will have a cautious approach within a really controlling one. After this, I would just set the roles accordingly to the players at hand. Perhaps one deeplying playmaker, one ballwinner, wingbacks on attack for top teams etc etc.

I am not saying that they should dominate possession but instead that the major part of their possession should be restricted to that area. If we have a 50 - 50 share of possession and our is 10(d)-25(m)-15(a) and theirs are 30(d)-15(m) 5(a), then I am all happy with this

the only reason the possesion wasnt more was due to them counter attacking with vela constantly, i restricted them to half chances only though while i had 3 cccs
