With the Barclays Premier League about to commence, many fans will be relishing their teams chances and hoping that good fortunes lye ahead. Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham fans will all be hoping that their team will be there or there abouts in the title race come the end of the season. The three promoted clubs, Swansea, QPR and Norwich however will all be hoping to stay in the league, avoiding relegation and an immediate return to the Championship.

Current champions Manchester United go into the season full of confidence from their community shield win over Manchester City but will have to be wary of stiff competition this year from Chelsea who are now managed by the tenacious Andre Villas-Boas who led Porto to the Potuguese Treble in his homeland last season. Arsenal will also be tough opposition aquiring the services of the talented teenager Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who will fit in well with the team Wenger is breeding at the moment. Tottenham who have only gone from strength to strength under Harry Redknapp's management also possess enough quality to make a formidable title assault, their main business in the transfer market was keeping talismanic midfielder Luka Modric.

Mike Phelan faced his second derby in as many matches. The new Man Utd manager must have felt he had been dropped in at the deep end when signing on as manager. In what was once again a spirited and feisty display it was Manchester United who turned in the better performance. Wayne Rooney in particular impressing as he grabbed a goal either side of half time. Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez scored early on to give the Kop faithful something to cheer about but not for long.

United with their never say die attitude responded incredibly well and along with Rooney's two goals Rio Ferdinand and Javier Hernandez scored to give the Red Devil's four goals on the day. Anfield was buzzing throughout the game and although it was a fractious display, both teams managed to keep their cool and instead of the headlines filled with negatives they were filled with positives about what a good game this was.

Danny Welbeck who was last year loaned out to Sunderland to gain first team experience has today proved that he has come of age. The young Englishman looked like shades of Andy Cole who already has his place cemented in Manchester United history. Every ball Welbeck picked up he looked dangerous with, he scored his three goals all in the second half hitting a beautiful half volley into the net. It was the pick of the goals as it sailed into the top corner of the net, completely beating Asmir Begovic in the Stoke goal.

Once again Javier Hernandez grabbed a goal and looked pretty sharp up front alongside Welbeck and later on Rooney who came on to replace todays hattrick hero. Gylfi Sigursson today showed that he can fit in wearing the United colours, laying on two goals today and really showing off his ability in passing the ball. The only downside to the game was that Nani picked up an injury that looked serious and was stretchered off the pitch late on.

Man Utd scored four goals in their third consecutive game, which will have undoubtedly impressed Mike Phelan and the Red Devils fans. They couldn't have wished for a better start in this years opening month of the Premier League campaign. With Sir Alex Ferguson departing the club in the summer it looked bleak for United. Many fans thought the club could go backwards without their iconic manager but with Mike Phelan taking over and with recent results showing that the club can cope, many fans fears have been put to bed.

Rio Ferdinand headed in Man Utd's first in the 10th minute and the team never looked back afterwards. Hernandez scored making this his third game in a row now with a goal to his name. Radja Nainggolan claimed his first ever Premier League goal, rolling the ball into an empty net as Ali Al-Habsi was left strandard having slipped over back peddling from Nainggolan's threatening run. Another debut goal was awarded as young Paul Pogba scored after coming on to replace the everyoung Paul Scholes. Pogba poked home from two yards out to claim his first ever Man Utd goal.

Premier League Table

Things have gone well for current Champions Manchester United who have thrashed their three opening opponesnts so far this season. Suprisingly it's Bolton who lye in second place and even more suprisingly QPR and Swansea who occupy third and fourth place. Arsenal and Liverpool have had disappointing starts to the season as they dwell in the bottom half of the table.

BREAKING NEWS

Nani Out For 2 - 3 Months

Mike Phelan has announced that influencial winger Nani will be out of action for some time after teraing his right hamstring in the game against Stoke. The Portuguese was brought down by Former Manchester United defender Ryan Shawcross who clumsily bundled his opponent to the ground. He immediately signalled to the bench that he would have to come off and looked to be in some pain. United Physio Rob Swire quickly attended and gave the nod to Phelan that Nani's injury was indeed serious.

Nani was quickly stretchered off and led down the tunnel where he was assessed and treated. It comes as a blow to Man Utd who so far have played extremely well with Nani in the team.

nani.jpg

Nani will be disappointed having picked up this injury as he has played in every game of the season so far, impressing the fans and his manager. He will miss Man Utd's first few games in the Champions League and League Cup aswell as the next few League games.

Luckily Man Utd have Antonio Valencia and Tom Cleverly available to fill in for Nani, they could also call upon young winger Gianluca Caprari who could earn a place in the team beacuse of this injury to Nani.

United Sign Spanish Starlet

Manchester United have wrapped up their summer spending spree with the intriguing signing ofJesé who previously applied his trade at Real Madrid. The youngster who has many admirers and quite a following has been earmarked as a future talent in the game, he has even been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo when he was of the same age.Still relatively unknown and a diamond in the rough, it looks like this diamond could become very valuable indeed.

Jesé will more than likely spend time in the Man Utd reserves as he adapts to life in England and the physical demands that the English game has to offer. With the likes of Rooney, Hernandez and Welbeck, Jesé will have a number of players he can look up to and to learn from.

Mike Phelan has been applauded for the coup and praised that he has managed to sign such a young player with such high expectations. With United having lost various talent to Madrid over the years, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ruud Van Nistelrooy to name just a few, it has pleased the fans that the Red Devils have managed to ****** some talent from Real.

Jesé has signed in a £5,000,000 pound deal with future add on fee's included if he has a successful career in Manchester and with Spain. The initial figure paid though could turn out to be more of a bargain depending on how Jesé develops.

As the Transfer Window slams **** it looks as though Man Utd have made some solid signings.

Apparently Jese turns out to be quality. You better get Rooney tutoring him and playing him in League cup games.

Good idea to have Phelan as the manager in my opinion. It wouldn't feel right having a United manager with no prior history with the club. Great story, and those graphics are absolutely superb.

Champions League Group Stage & Carling Cup Opponents Drawn
View attachment 226349

Man Utd have been handed a potentially tricky Champions League group having been drawn alongside the likes of Napoli, Olympique Lyonnais and Olympiakos. Napoli who possess a strong attack will be the biggest threat to the Red Devils. Edison Cavani, Marek Hamsik & Ezequiel Lavezzi are all class players who head the Italian teams attack. Napoli had a strong season last year and deserve their place in this years competition.

scaled.php

Olympique Lyonnais are Champions League regulars and the French side have proven to be strong competition in the past. Hugo Lloris is a rock in the French teams goal and will be hard to beat. Yoann Gourcuff is another player who could potentially cause United an upset, so Phelan will have to guard against complacency.

Greek side Olympiakos have also been drawn against United and will be regarded as the weakest team in the group. United will want to claim six points from both their games against the Greek side.
View attachment 226350
Man Utd have also been drawn in the Carling Cup which has been kind to them as they have been paired with Ipswich Town. United will go into the game as strong favourites. Paul Jewell's side will be underdogs but United have lost out to smaller competition in the past and a shock upset could once again be on the cards. Phelan will have to ensure his side avoid an embarrasing defeat but will also want to experiment with his younger players giving them a chance to shine.

Hey mate, you got a kind draw in the League Cup. Now you can show Jese off lol. Your Champs League group could be dangerous though. Still think you'll go through!

September 2011

With Manchester United sitting pretty at the top of the table after three games, most fans aren't getting carried away. There is still lots of work to do to ensure that the Champions keep their crown and out of the clutches of the likes of Man City and Chelsea. Mike Phelan seems to have taken over from Sir Alex Ferguson without any real issues arising, United still look as good as they ever did under their former manager.

The Red Devils however will find September a much harder month, with more games to play and the challenges that await them in the Champions League. They face Olympiakos and Napoli in this months fixtures. Domestically United will face a strong and under the leadership of Harry Redknapp resourceful Tottenham team who will be relishing the prospect of facing the league leaders at White Hart Lane. Second place QPR will also face off against Phelan's team as do fellow promoted team Norwich.

Man Utd showed off their killer instinct in this game, showing off their intent to their title rivals. With the Red Devils in rampant form Norwich struggled and at times looked way out of their depth. United captain Nemanja Vidic displayed a near perfect performance heading in two powerful goals either side of half time. The skipper was in electric form albeit not having much to do in terms of defending as Norwich were pegged back in their own half through vast periods of the game.

Danny Welbeck got himself on the scoresheet rifling home from around five yards out to add to his season's goal tally. Gylfi Sigurdsson and Radja Nainggolan added two late goals. Sigurdsson's from a freekick which swept over the wall and into the back of the net beating John Ruddy.

Manchester United's first outing in Europe was far from spectacular especially it being Mike Phelan's first ever European game in charge. Olympiakos took control of the game and quickly scored thanks to their attacking midfielder David Fuster. United looked shaken and eventually got back into the habit of losing the ball which in this match was happening all too often.

Manchester United did eventually equalise as Javier Hernandez scored a diving header from a deep Antonio Valencia cross. The Mexican looked delighted with the goal and it even bought a glimmer of a smile to his managers face. The bout ended as a draw which will have upset the travelling Red Devils fans who would have liked to have seen a more convincing display.

Harry Redkanpp started this match rubbing his hands with glee as on loan striker Emmanuel Adebayor scored in the third minute. David De Gea was at fault for the goal not getting down low enough to get his body behind the strike. United however gathered themselves together and took the game to Tottenham. Wayne Rooney netted after half time which seemed to give United a buzz about them.

Soon after Rooney's goal, Javier Hernandez popped up with a low strike which saw Heurelho Gomes at full stretch but still unable to keep the Mexican's shot out. Tottenham looked to climb their way back into the game and nearly did when Rafael Van Der Vaart's powerful shot smashed off the upright and off for a goal kick. The game was dead and buried ten minutes from time as Tom Cleverly scored his debut goal from a a tight angle to kill off any hopes of a Spurs comeback.

Mike Phelan saw this game as a chance to rest some of his bigger players and to unleash his hungry youngsters. Players such as Zeki Fryers, Jesé, Larnell Cole, Gianluca Caprari and Paul Pogba played in the game and impressed. Ipswich who were perhaps looking to take advantage of the young devils were disappointed when Jimmy Bullard gifted Man Utd the lead after heading into his own goal from a Jesé corner.

After half time, United really looked to show what they had sitting firmly behind the bigger stars of the club. Tom Cleverly scored coming in from the left and slamming a shot into the bottom right of the Ipswich goal. Fellow youngster Paul Pogba wrapped up the win with a shot just inside the area which swerved left beating David Stockdale and finally ending up in the Ipswich goal.

United continue to maintain a simply enthralling start to the campaign, easily dispatching QPR and racking up another abundance of goals. Phelan will be pleased that his team is scoring goals from all over the pitch with both wingers having scored alongside a striker and a midfielder. Antonio Valencia particuarly impressed, playing clever balls off and around the strikers and eventually linking up well with them to grab his goal.

Tinga who replaced Ryan Giggs late on managed to grab a sneaky goal too, coming out wide to get the ball he played it to Sigurdsson who then played it back to Tinga who slid the ball into the goal. Gylfi Sigurdsson scored the final goal of the game as he ran onto a Danny Welbeck placed pass and fizzed a shot into the net.

Napoli played Marek Hamsik, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Edison Cavani up front but hardly looked dangerous all game. Cavani had their best chance as he rounded De Gea but fired his shot past the post. United who were also not at their best missed a host of chances in the first half, most notably Wayne Rooney blazing over from about ten yards out.

The second half began and already everyone could tell the match was about to change. Phelan who had decided to start with Paul Pogba in the centre of midfield will have been pleased with his decision as the young French ace scored a header running at the near post and connecting to give the Red Devils the lead. Nemanja Vidic wrapped up the game in the dying moments as he too scored a thumping header. Phelan will be concerned as both Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young had to come off as each player picked up an injury and will be assessed by the medical staff as soon as possible.

Premier League Table

With Man Utd playing extremely well in the league it will take an inspired effort to remove them from one of their rivals. Mike Phelan has got his team playing in an attack minded formation which seems to have worked wonders as United sit top of the league and have scored alot of goals already this season.

Everton are experiencing a magical sstart to the season and David Moyes will probably be pinching himself as his side sit second in the table. Owen Coyle will be doing the same as his Bolton team sit behind Everton in third place just above the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City who will be trying to catch up with Man Utd.

scaled.php

Champions League Table

After the disappointing display in Greece against Olympiakos the Red Devils managed to win at home to Napoli to level themselves on points with Olympique Lyonnais who ironically are United's next opposition in Europe. Whoever wins this match will certainly have an edge over the other and most likely be made the favourites to qualify from the group.

Carling Cup 4th Round Draw
226350d1277069456-manchester-united-red-devil-us-all-carling.png

Man Utd have been handed a tough match in the 4th round draw of the Carling Cup as they face bitter rivals Liverpool. Both clubs will have wanted to avoid each other this early in the competition as neither wants to be knocked out at this stage. Mike Phelan who has already masterminded a Man Utd win over their Scouse rivals will want a repeat of the 4-2 drubbing the Red Devils issued Liverpool with last time they met.

Kenny Dalglish will want to make ammends and dish out some punishment to Man Utd as he and his team were left embarassed by the last meeting. It is not known whether either manager will stick with using their youngsters or use more experienced players. Whatever happens though it looks like their could be another classic derby coming up soon.

scaled.php

Other interesting pairings in the competition are Man City V Tottenham where Roberto Mancini will want to show how good his team is against Harry Redknapp's Tottenham. Both teams are in for a shout of mounting a serious title bid, although both so far are some way off that yet.

Fulham V QPR will be another mouth watering tie as both clubs have been playing well so far. Will Martin Jol be able to beat Mark Hughes's tough tackling QPR, we'll have to find out.

Wow guys thanks for this award. I only noticed I was up for it the other day. It's been great doing this and I will get another update up later tonight. Once again thanks!

Wayne Rooney: We Are The Team To Beat!

Wayne Rooney has taken the time to taunt his teams closest rivals via his Twitter account. The Man Utd foward has criticised the teams by suggesting that they have not made the best of their starts to the season and that they all now lye in the wake of Manchester United due to their own sloppy standards. Rooney has also claimed that no one will have the strength to catch his team and that he already feels like he is playing for this years League winners.

Rooney has not been very articulate and has been more than blunt in his early season Twitter review. Many United fans will find his tweet amusing while the likes of the Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City fans will be incensed. The Man Utd foward who himself has enjoyed a good start to the season will now have to be careful that his team don't slip off top spot and that he and his team aren't made to eat humble pie, come the end of the season.

Wayne-Rooney-could-play-i-007.jpg

With Rooney and his team mates all feeling confident from the strong season start, we will soon see how well they continue further on into the season. Rooney's Tweet if more than anything will have added pressure to his team and put a huge target mark over his club as everyone will be gunning for the current league leaders.

TwitterLogo1.gif

@WayneRooney

" Top of the table guys, its been a great start to the season, where is everone else? oh yeh down below us. City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool don't have the strength to tople us and have been slopy so far this season. Im already playing for this years Leage winners! "

With many follwing Rooney on Twitter is is now almost common knowledge about this Tweet and it looks like Mike Phelan's side will now be under a whole lot more pressure to perform well.

Wheeeey! you won story of the week, I voted for ya! I like the tweeting Idea, I think it's very good. I will laugh if you lose some games now that will be funny. Not cos you lose becuase I can imagine Rooney venting on twitter lol. Once again cracking story mate.

Like the tweeting idea too, but for Rooney to spell every word in a sentence right? Bit unrealistic if you ask me ;)
