you have said about using a target man and poacher but ive just lost my target man to injury and have no other apart from another poacher, how could i make this work?

Sometimes if one of your poachers have pace, setting him to "target man - attack" and to "run onto ball" works as he won't have to hold up play, but more be the spearhead of the attack and will still work well as a poacher at the same time as he'll get in the right sort of positions.

If not, use an advanced forward, this always seems to work well for me upfront with a poacher, as the AF (advanced forward) tracks down lost balls, and sometimes pays off and the player will play the poacher in on goal to score.

If your player still doesn't really fit that, tell me and I'll test a few things for you :)

Thanks Max. A good insight into the tactics as I will be releasing some new 4-4-2 one's soon with the help of this guide. :) Well detailed and easy to find the information you want. :)
 
Thanks for the team instructions max, i have made some succesful tactics using the help of the team instructions, they are a 4-1-1-2-2 formation with an anchorman, box to box in front of him, 2 inside forwards and 2 poachers, very attacking but with your help my team instructions have matched them, you have made me a beast at fm

These are really helpful mate. If im aloud to request, could you please do passing and specialist defensive roles like cover and stopper.

I've kind of done passing already in the OP with the team instructions, but I'll try and go more in depth for you if you want :)

And yeah, defensive roles are fine, I'll do them soon
 
Really good guide. Simple to use and has really helped me with my Boro tactics. Cheers.
 
Sorry for not whacking in my piece on 3 at the back. Was on holidays there and my laptop sadly couldn't make it so couldn't make an effort on it. I did make a pretty nice tactic for Man Utd, 31 league games unbeaten, 14 at the end of the first season and the first 16 of second season

When that's said, WOW I'm impressed. I'd actually read a whole book if you wrote it, because this was interesting. Thanks a lot for doing this, you're my hero.

In response the first part of the post, yes anyone can do that, but I think tbh I wrote a bit more than "a few sentences".

Sorry, I tried to make the sarcasm obvious, but it's hard over the internet:P Ofcource the first part was sarcasm. What you've wrote is incredible. It's interesting, helpful, well written and it'll help many players understand tactics both on FM and real games.
 
hi max am currently man u and am 4 seasons in, i have won 3 out of 4 epl titles but keep losing in the cl semi's to barca i have just drawn them AGAIN and i need advise on how to beat them please helpppp. asap
