You're supposed to use the gung ho version when you're losing the game towards the end, I guess. If you're winning or getting a draw that you're happy with, don't use it. Only if you are chasing the game and need a goal or two use it.

Correct, it's a high risk approach, sort of like what Rodgers did in the end against Mourinho. It can end both ways.

I tried to get this same formation working a while ago but just couldn't think I'll give this a look and see where I was going wrong!

Ive been using your tactic to great effect for the first 10 games? Then it all went downhill. I'm currently on a 8 game winless streak (Mostly draws, 1-2 losses). Been switching between counter for away games and attack for home games. Using Liverpool. Do you know why? Is it because the AI has already "broke" the tactic? :'(

I used version 2 with Stuttgart Kickers in Bundesliga II and for 10 games it was sensational

but then ive started lossing and drawing games, how can I sort this out?

I desperately need a new tactic for my Wolves team in the premier league. I have a below average team and we are fighting in the relegation zone. Contemplating whether or not I should use this tactic. Do you think it could work?

Am the exact same!

Tactics don't get broken after this or that many games. Players' morale and form can vary extremely much, in addition to luck variation in the rolling dices. It's like playing poker, even if you have a good strategy, sometimes you will have to deal with losing streaks. Only in football, losing streaks messes up morale, so it can cause further losing streaks. Perhaps a team meeting could help. I'm in my third season now with my Liverpool team. After having won the league the second league, I struggle a bit now in season 3 due to a very tough schedule in the start of the league, which cause my team to get many draws/losses against the biggest teams. After that it's hard to get back up again, and I will probably not win this year, and I'm happy with top 4.

Just thought I'd update you with my progress. Absoloutly breezed through preseason, almost seemed to easy. Unfortunately not been able to recreate that kind of form in the league. Results have been very mixed, some good and some bad. McCormack got 9 goals in 8 preseason games, now has 4 goals in 11 games (all competitions). The team, but he in particular, seems to miss quite a lot of CCCs.
Have you got any advice? Away form seems better than home (been using counter away but when I tried it at home we created nothing). Will attach screenshot of results.

Yeah, the counter v3 should manage to keep the team from relegating without a doubt.

You should definitely try using Attack V3 at home. Other than that, just keep playing. Some randomness is due to happen in FM14, but in a large number of games, it will even out.

Ye been using attack V3 at home and its done ok, will keep trying until the end of the season (as long as I don't get sacked haha). Though just accidentally replaced my captain so whole squad is ******... great.
Consistency is the most annoying thing. We play really well in one game and then the next utter garbage! Though my DLP is possibly weakest part of team so could be a reason for my struggles.

Think I've had to abandon the save. Accidentally removing McCormack as captain has messed up the team morale and so results taken a massive dip. On the verge of the sack (asked for a meeting) and players claiming we're underperforming. hmmmmm not good! It seems impossible to have a good save with Leeds!
Will give it a couple of days and then try again with this tactic, doing a couple things differently. I think it was my fault, not the fault of the tactic, so will give it another try.

So what would you suggest? just ride it out and see if results big up?

or take away the route one option for a game or two or something?

was outstanding for first 10 games though, best ive used !

Best tip is to do all you can to get the players happy, team meetings, new contracts etc etc. Then just be patient. The difference between a good season and a bad season could differ a lot! My tip is to keep playing, don't watch singular results too much, and only see how you do in the long run (over several seasons). One bad season isn't necessarily a reason for starting a new game. Patience is a virtue my friend :)

I read a tip on SI that turned out to work great. It's so obvious, i can't believe i was not tacking advantage of it before.

After each game, go to Assistant Reports, Last Match, Team Talk Feedback and you'll see how your players react to teamtalks.

After a good win with 3 or 4 goals ahead, i used to do "Passionately" : I am very happy with the way score and the way you played. The result was that a lot of players were getting complacent and the feedback was "he's let it go to his head." As a result, although they would not be complacent enough to actually get a bad rating they were not performing at their best.

Ever since i stopped using the said teamtalk and started calmly prasing the score and do individual talks with players that performed best.

Hope it helps.

Is it possible to moce the F9 down to AMC slot as AP/s or AP/A so I can make use of my AMC?

I'm always amazed by how well your tactics work, Started a game with Fleetwood, came second in Sky Bet L2 and promoted, Got given a 45k budget and with a couple of loanees and free agents, here I am.

I'm worried about when I get promoted to the Championship though, any ideas on some players I can sign?

I'm using the Counter V3
