If they are relegated, it'l be down to the board this time. Everything's back to square one again

Congratulations to Alan Pardew, Newcastle's Manager of the Month for December.

Anyone else think Ashley really, really looks like Jabba the Hut? Bet Jabba wouldn't have sacked Hughton.

Kept him chained in an underground dungeon, feasting on debtors, maybe, but there's dignity in that.

Truly, truly bizzarre appointment, I don't see how they think that he is the man to take the club forward, what is Ashley thinking?

he isnt a terrible manager, he should never of been sacked by southampton tbf, and he did a good job at west ham, maybe he might be able to achieve a top 12 finish, saying that sacking houghton was pointless, but who ever took over would of had a hard hard job to follow, but anyway good luck to pardew.

Houghton to join the United coaching staff.....

stupid choice by mike ashley, why appoint him when he was sacked by southampton. Could be another relegation on the cards

EDIT - newcastle fans are probably praying this is true although it is a goal.com exclusive story.

I've just read that and that was unexpected. The way clubs are failing at the moment right now, I'd rather that Everton were taken over in the future, by people with the clubs best interests and fans interests at heart. When I look what happened to Pompey, it makes me nervous. Tottenham maybe. Newcastle - well the fans would probably welcome them with open arms because Ashley has been a complete disaster for the club. But if they did take over, how much do they really know about football? Remains to be seen if it happens

In the real world, this would never have happened, Pardew shouldn't have been sacked by So'ton, and Hughton shouldn't have been sacked by Newcastle. I mean seriously, Pardew is an awful manager, wonder why say no to Martin Jol?

Hughton and Jol are pals, and Jol doesn't approve of Hughton's treatment apparently.

Jol and Hughton to come back to Spurs please, when Redknapp takes over at England.

I would love them back here. They managed consecutive 5th place finishes, narrowly missing out on 4th thanks to food poisoning, with a worse team than we have now.

Im not one to judge a book by its cover but....

Im sorry pardew, i would have a hard time, as many fans would, accepting you as our manager. Its not that pardew is not a nice bloke, im sure he is a nice bloke but many of us supporters were happy with hughton, and when he got sacked, expected a big name signing, even the players expected that, i mean why cause so much upheavel if its not worth it?! Why not just stick to what we had with CH?!

I wanted O'Neil or Jol not you mr pardew, so do not expect many hands wanting to shake your hand, but, its not personal to you :)

Summed it up nicely there, I don't see how Pardew is an improvment on Hughton.

How do you think this appointment will affect the playes? Think any would suddenly want to leave, or would they give Pardew a chance?

There can only be one answer... because nothing else makes sense...

the only 'logical' explanation for the current fiasco at Newcastle is that the two buddies that met in a casino had a side-bet and Pardew won...

(I wonder what the bet was on? we know what the prize was ;) )

This is the most ridiculous thing to happen this season. I like Newcastle as a team but the administrative side of Newcastle is beyond shocking. There was me thinking they wanted a big name and thats why they sacked Houghton, this is just bizzare and totally unfair on Houghton.

So they where after a man with more PL expeirience and Pardew has that in abundance i see!!! No more than 3 years he has spent as a manager in the PL???

Thanks :) There are so many rumours, and thats all they are is RUMOURS as to why CH got the boot, one is due to the assistant managers position - MA wanted hughton to promote someone already at the club (more than likely meant beardsley) but CH wanted to bring someone else in, as he was happy with beardsley and stone in there reserve team jobs, so there was loggerheads there and another rumour was pardew is mates with MA and DL and pardew is after a job - so ashley being the crude business man he is, gets rid of Hughton and is going to give the job to Pardew.....which i think its a huge mistake! As i said in my previous post, the fans and players are not going to welcome the news.

PLUS....with fiery characters such as barton and carroll, can pardew actually keep them in line? i highly doubt it. Hughton kept them in line as they highly respected him as a man and as a manager, i doubt pardew will be able to have the same effect.

I have said it before, and I will say it again.

Please MA, the only thing you can do to make me happy...

Maradona please.

i'd happily have hughton in a coaching role at united, or even get involved with england setup. Hopefully he will bounce back into management soon
