Money, Money and More Money!

January 2014 was a Transfer Window to be remembered but not just for Newcastle United fans. We spent near £100M on improving the squad. In the process, we signed 3 Centre Midfielders and 2 strikers. I hope you enjoy the update because I certainly I enjoyed signing the players. This is the update. You won't forget it in a while!

My first signing of January was Arsenal Centre Midfielder Aaron Ramsey for a record fee of £29.5M. I would say that he was also the best player, attribute wise, that Newcastle have ever bought. He can pass, shoot and tackle and will add so much more to our slightly disappointing midfield. Ramsey will add the much needed creativity into the midfield, something which is much needed throughout the squad.

Aaron was Newcastle United's most expensive signing and will have huge pressure on his shoulders.

Our other signing in the Centre of Midfield was Brazilian heavyweight Ramires. He was by far my best signing on 09 so when I saw he was going cheaper than most others, I snapped him up immediately. At £21.5M, he wasn't cheap but wil provide the bite we desperately need in the midfield. A player who can tackle, head and shoot means that he will be key this season. He has already scored on his debut.

Ramires will provide much needed bite into the midfield and he and Ramsey will make the perfect pair.

My first striker that was brought in was Giuseppe Rossi. He had in fact been at Newcastle before and he is now back where he belongs. He has top finishing, long shots and passing which means he will be vital for our title chances this season. He was signed for £17.5M, the cheapest of my four biggest signings meaning he is quite a coup for the club. A top player!

Rossi is a great signing for Newcastle and looking to prove himself in the Premier League!

Finally, I snapped up Andre-Pierre Gignac for a cool fee of £18.5M. I have had great experiences with him before and when I saw him, I knew I had to snap him up immediately. He offers much needed strength to the front line and with a great shot on him, will hopefully be in the scorers books often enough. A great signing for the club!

Gignac is one of the best strikers around and will offer a huge amount to the squad!

There we go. A huge amount of cash was spent and with youngster Fernandinho joining the club, things look much brighter for the club. Hopefully now we'll go on to win the Premier League but City won't stop the fight. With a much stronger squad, I am more confident though. Keep following! Chris. (H)

Changed as it was giving me crash dumps.

Some great signings there Chrissy Boy!

Thanks Dan.

Probably get in a big results update tonight.

Newcastle Are Victorious- Again!

We may not have won as many trophies as last year, done as well in the Champions League or got as many points in the Premier League. But, we won the trophy that matters to me. The Premier League. We won it in style with two games to go after getting revenge over Burnley, we won 3-0, the same score that they defeated us by last time. In the end, Man City found themselves 7 points behind us. So a good year overall. Rossi and Gignac weren't amazing in the goalscoring books but they have to settle in. Their performances have however been outstanding. Here is how things look at the end of a very turbulent year...

The Premier League

We retain the title finishing with 89 points, 7 points ahead of Man City but it wasn't so clear cut for most of the season. We secured fantastic victories over the likes of Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool and City themselves but with some dreadful losses against Burnley, Wigan and an unlucky defeat to Chelsea, we didn't hit the 90 point mark. The players that stood out for me were Keirrison, Verratti and Shawcross and all the new signings made a difference big (Ramsey) or small (Rossi). Without them, we wouldn't have won the league.

Newcastle have taken some great wins this season but they haven't been without disappointments.

The table has been a refreshing sight and I didn't realise at the time, just how big the difference we have over everyone else. The relegation battle was the talking point of the year with 2 games left, no-ones future decided. 2 relegation places were still unknown on the final day. In the end, Blackburn, Bolton and Fulham went down. A lot of boring football was lost this year which could be a good thing! Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea grabbed the other Champions League places. We seem to have a Top Four again with Liverpool being one of the main surprises. Chelsea were slightly disappointing.

A very exciting year in the Premier League but Newcastle rose above anyone to win the league!

Champions League & The FA Cup

We did nowhere near as well in these competition this year. We were knocked out of the Champions League against Bayern in the First Knockout Round. We had a 3-0 lead in the First Leg but lost 4-0 in the second. In the FA Cup, we went out on penalties in the 4th Round against Chelsea. I haven't got much to say as it is a bitter disappointment not to win one of them.

We were incredibly unlucky to go out, though Bayern went on to defeat Madrid and Barca!

View attachment 61534
Another disappointment for us though I will focus big aims on winning next year!

The Players!

Our best players this year have been Keirrison, Shawcross and Verratti. Here are in detail updates on those now!

Keirrison grabbed 19 goals in the league. He came third in the Top Scorers list and also scored 4 goals in other competitions. He has been our shining light this year and was incredibly unlucky at times not to score more goals. He had a spell of games where he scored 11 goals in 4 games! His penalty taking is superb and he has won many games. A great player!
View attachment 61535
Keirrison is Newcastle United's current 20 goals a season striker and is their key player!
View attachment 61545

Ryan Shawcross is the rock at the back for us and without him, we wouldn't have conceded just 25 goals in the league! He also has an eye for a goal, hitting 8 goals in all competitions. His tackling is out of this world and he is dominant in the air every single time he plays! A vital player to have in our team.

Ryan has been a rock at the back and without him we may not be first!

Finally, Verratti has maybe been our best player this season. With 11 goals and 12 assists in the league he has been vital all over the pitch. He has an amazing long shot on him and can actually score a goal from almost anywhere on the pitch. He provides the majority of creativity in the side and without him we would be nothing this year. What a player this man is!

Verratti is Newcastle's best player and his goals and assist have been vital this year!

This has been a good year for us and the squad have performed very well. I couldn't have asked much more from Ramsey and Ramires who have both been amazing since joining the club. Rossi and Gignac haven't scored too many goals this season but both have put in a good performance every game. They will be better next season I can assure you!

The team has been inspirational and all have done superbly this year!
