HUGHTON QUITS!
Newcastle confirm that promotion manager has left the club
A statement on nufc.co.uk has confirmed that Chris Hughton has left the club after only a year at the helm.
Hughton cited the failure to secure a new deal as his reason for leaving Tyneside. The Irishman only had a year remaining on his current deal and was the lowest paid manager in the Premier League.
Hughton will be remembered fondly after guiding Newcastle to the Championship trophy with 102 points last season.
The race to find a replacement is now on with Martin O'Neill, David O'Leary and Alan Curbishley among the favourites for the job.

LIVERPOOL BID FOR CARROLL!
Roy Hodgson offers £4.9m for Newcastle starlet
Tino Asprilla's first test as Newcastle manager will be to fend off interest from Liverpool for star striker Andy Carroll.
The offer of around £5m is expected to be rejected by the Tynesiders but Liverpool may back up their opening bid.
Carroll is tipped to be an England international and with funds tight on Tyneside it would take a mega offer for Newcastle to part with their hottest property.
