Was tempted by Tiote, but I think Song/Mikel/Carrick are underrated more than he is.​

I think some Manchester United fans overrate Fletcher, but the majority of other fans don't, so I didn't include him. Finding overrated players was much more difficult.​

Bosingwa Cahill Vermaelen Kolarov

Defoe Berbatov​

Cech - Mistakes have slowly started creeping into his game more often, particularly at set-pieces and catching. No longer far and away the best GK in the world as I think he once was.

Bosingwa - Injuries have seriously affected him. Had a great first season, but it appears to have been a one-off.

Cahill - Apparently worth £17m and the player who everyone seems to want at Arsenal. Good, not great.

Vermaelen - Excellent first season, but will need a more focused CB partner than Gallas. Has a risky style that encourages mistakes. Goals in first season increased hype around him, but he's by no means a bad player.

Kolarov - LoL. £16m? LoL.

Henry - Just a thug. Praised because he has this "English Grit".

I think the rest are pretty obvious.

Under-rated XI

Fabianski

Sagna Ivanovic Koscielny BAE

Coleman Tiote Cahill Downing

Odemwingie Chamakh​

Fabianski - had an excellent spell after a dodgy start, and then had an unfortunate injury. Just needs confidence.

Koscielny - Excellent when paired with the right partner at CB. Excelled alongside Djourou and had a very good debut vs Liverpool alongside Vermaelen. Needs to improve aerial ability.

Chamakh - Had a good first half of the season but was used to a Winter Break - didn't get one, got tired, lost form, lost confidence. New season, new start.

Certainly seen some interesting choices for overrated players - Cole, Berbatov, Parker, Silva? Would anyone care to elaborate?

I see why Berbatov may be considered overrated, as his transfer fee was ridiculous and far beyond his true value, and he can be inconsistent and go missing in some games. His skill, however, is quite unique and I believe a number of people often underrate him, although he can be very frustrating to watch at times. He's probably fairly rated as a very good forward, world class on his day but frustratingly pedestrian on his off days.

Cole is one of the most well rounded full backs in the world.

Parker is dependable, consistent and hard working. Quality at what he does for club and, thankfully now, country.

David Silva is a player that would walk into almost any club side in the world, underrated if anything.

Obviously, this is all my opinion, but it'd be interesting to see why some of you chose them.

Overrated:
GK: Gomes... Cant catch the ball
CB: Ferdinand... Lost his bravery and speed. Still reads game well, but he's not WC anymore
CB: Upson... Cant challenge, cant mark and he's sold in air. But he's not good enough for England squad.
LB: Ash Cole... Never understood why Brits rate him so high. Had two decent season but that's it.
RB: Bosingwa... Worst RB ever. Good winger though.
CM: Barry... Can't pass, can't endure tackle, slow as snail and mobile as house.
CM: Rodwell... same as above
LM: Silva... meh
RM: Wallcot... Zero technique. If he wasn't fast he would be my lawn man.
ST: Dzeko, sori burazeru, jednostavno si ispao ovca. Vrati se u Njemacku da spasis karijeru, City je zajeb malo veci.
ST: Torres... dire player. Hope he never returns his old form.

Very Harsh. He's only 19 and is certainly not slow. He gets unfair criticism for having a poor U21 Championship which was due to his injury-thwarted season.
 
I love reading through this thread and seeing overrated teams with no players from the poster's preferred club included.

Makes me lol.

It's not just this season. Every time I watch him, he shows lack of agility, speed and, I'll say it, brain. To be fair, I watched one good game, against United. ( when he scored a winner goal). Maybe I'm wrong.
 
Did I really see a few pages back that Van Persie is over-rated! Whens hes fit in now way is he over rated. played second half of this season from Jan onwards and scored in most games and came third in Top goalscorer. Well Overated.

I agree, he's better than most forwards when fit. I really fail to see how's he overrated.

Good thing about being a United fan is that most people think it is the weakest squad we've had for a while, so a number of our squad are actually underrated.
 
Think there's quite a lot of under-rated players that I couldn't quite fit in to my team:

Albrighton - brilliant season and showed he can make the step up from Reserve level. Has a very bright future IMO.

Friedel - been consistently excellent for god only knows how long. Never seems to get the praises he deserves.

Smalling - Surely an England Snr call up isn't far off.

Owen - showed he can still score important goals and hasn't lost his clinical edge despite losing most of his speed.

Walcott - not sure how people say he's OVER-rated, hardly anyone rates him. To say he has no technique is rather baffling. He's an excellent finisher and simply needs to improve his crossing and decision-making.

Silva - one of the best players in the league last season without a doubt.

Yaya Toure - (was bemused to see him in such an attacking role, but he's done brilliantly.

I seriously would like some of what some people are on this thread are on because it seems crazy!! RVP, Fletcher, Cole, Cech!! seriously!!

Under-rated team:
GK: Ali Al Habsi - Had a sensational year with Wigan and im suprised no-one bigger tried to sign him especially for 4mill
DR: Stephan Carr - Been ever present for Brum and is pretty consistant, deserves more praise for someone who retired
DL: Ashley Cole - Only because he is on this thread in the over-rated sides way way too much. I can understand people not liking him but seriously!!
DC: Sylvain Distin - Although prone to some errors i think he has everything and most times is vey consistant
DC: Johan Djourou - I was one who slammed him massilvy but had a wonderfull season, struggles with injurys but then again what Arsenal player dosent
MR: Jermain Pennant - Has got pretty much everything a winger needs, could play for a bigger club without a doubt
ML: Mathew Ethrington - Same as above
MC: Darren Fletcher - Again mainly because of the Cole reason. Excellent player for Utd simple as that
MC: Jon Obi Mikel - Gets slated so much but does his job well without any fuss. Not world class but most teams would love to have him
ST: Emmanuel Adebayor - Attitude stinks but the man possesses fantastic talent, no wonder Madrid wanted him last season
ST: Robin Van Person - Same as Cole and Fletcher, such a sensational football when fit

Over-rated team:
GK: Shay Given - Great shot stopper but his decision making and awareness is pretty poor
DR: Bakary Sagna - Always seems to get good reports mainly from Arsenal fans only....Wonder why that is.... Wouldnt get into any other top team simple as that
DL: Gael Clichy - Although he is young and can improve at the moment he is poor, City overpayed for him in my eyes
DC: Gary Cahill - Does ok but no-where near as well as media make out

MR: Theo Walcott - Although he is still young i think he is all fart no follow through if you get my point
ML: Nico Kranjcar - Has done ok when played for Spurs but the man is soooo lazy its unreal
MC: Fabrice Muamba - Only over-rated by Bolton but he does nothing!!! Seriously i was so suprised by the ammount of games he has played for Bolton because i can never remember him playing
MC: Gareth Barry - Dont think he is good enough for a side like City and definatly not for England.
ST: Dimitar Berbatov - Dosent do enough for me and although people may throw stats at me etc i dont care lol
Andy Carroll - Before we start yes Chelsea overpayed for Torres but Liverpool massivly overpayed for a man who has had one good half a season.
 
I'm still waiting on the reason why Agger is overrated JDY...
