Time for South America?

good job :) Keep it up!

I dont like FMC but well I think because I'm not used to play the FMC

So 7 seasons in and we have 2 out of 5 Champions Leagues won.

Next up is South America where a career in Argentina or Brazil awaits..

This is a brilliant idea. I've been looking for a rock bottom challenge to really test myself and make a long, World wide career game out of; so I'm thinking of combining the idea of the 'Pentagon Challenge' into that. Only taking it one step further and starting in New Zealand with the added bonus of the OFC Champions League in play for the Oceania region to encompass (hopefully, dependent on where my career takes me) all 6 continental federations.

Whether I get the time to post it as a story is another matter. But if for nothing else personal pleasure, thank you for the inspiration for just the type of new starting challenge I was looking for in FM.

South America

I holidayed after the World Cup with the option to return when offered a big job in Brazil or Argentina's top flight.

A couple of weeks I was offered the River Plate job which obviously gives me the foundations to mount a serious Copa Libertadores within a season or two maybe..

FINAL

Just 3 games into he South American leg of this adventure and we find ourselves in the Copa final after getting the River Plater job.

Usually the only jobs available are with struggling underperforming teams but River's old manager resigned to take over the national team hence my good fortune.

Where did this come from!?! My River career so far reads 2-0, 3-0, 2-0 wins then this beat down happens.

Odds are we will be having a least a full season in South America afterall.

What an effort! We had a mountain to climb and we were sooo close to scaling it.

To be honest I would have been disappointed had we won the Copa so soon but we've only just begun in South America so its only fair that we play at least one full season here.

Some shrewd transfer dealings and we'll be back in the Final before long.

Season Review 2022

Defeat in the Copa Libertadores final was tough but we gained some king of revenge by winning the Copa Sudamericana..

Despite a late run however we fell short in the league, finishing 2nd behind Boca.

A draw and loss either side of the Copa Libertadores final as we rested players ultimately cost us a league title as well.

An easy group phase and good to have done the double over Corinthians who we have face in last seasons Copa Libertadores finals (LOST) and the Copa Sudamericana final (WON).

No doubt we'll face them again this year at some stage..

In fact I even considered fixing the last group game against Tigres to try to knock Corinthians out but the goal difference between 2nd and 3rd was too much!

Two very straightforward 2-1 wins against our domestic rivals.

We somehow lost the 1st leg 1-0 despite dominating as Mineiro scored late on the break.

However at home we turned yet more domination into goals and strolled to a 3-0 victory.

Boca have been pretty much unstoppable in the league so I feared the worst when the draw was made but we blew them away in the 1st leg and stole victory in the 2nd to book another Copa Libertadores final appearance.

FINAL

Once again we face Brazilian side Corinthians in a major final - this is getting ridiculous.

They won last season's Libertadores final and I won the lesser Copa Sudamericana final.

If we lose this one I may as well take over Corinthians!!

We were hammered 3-0 in the first leg last season. How things have changed.

Was a cagey affair despite our early lead then Kieza gifted us a penalty and a comfortable 2-0 win.

Surely this is our year..

CHAMPIONS!!!!!

A goal right on half time sealed it! We went into defensive mode after the break limiting Corinthians to just 5 shots all game none of which were even on target.

A sensational performance as we beat one of Europe's big boys in the Final.

Sadly we finished 2nd behind Boca Juniors in the league again. Their domestic form really is superb. I will return to Argentina in the future to capture that elusive league title.
