No, the match engine does not employ scripts. Your defenders playing badly is one thing to look at though. What were their ratings? Was it across the board, 6.0s, or was one guy significantly worse than the rest of them?

It is fishy though when you get to a cup final or a league decider and your players start running round like headless chickens, and you notice an upturn in injuries, sendings off and penalties. Not saying it's a script thing, but I am thinking that SI went overboard in whatever it did to increase the tension / drama in these "big games".

Most of that, apart from the injuries, could be down to your players not being able to cope with the increased pressure and you doing nothing to ease the pressure on them.

Holy **** the goals from near post corner, midgets are scoring for fun. My defender is just short of prolific scorer and I concede almost always from there.

Yes and I am saying the effect is too pronounced

Only if you get it spectacularly wrong.

Oh really? So playing the same tactic against teams I have beaten before by several clear goals, only to see some really odd events happen in the "big games", is me getting it "spectacularly wrong"?

Please stop being such an obtuse prat.

These odd events happen because your players are nervous as **** and you're doing nothing about it. I have a young player in my team who has big potential, but is a nervy wreck. When he does get nervous, he misplaces passes mostly because he tries to get rid of the ball too quickly, often without even taking a first touch. Doesn't that make sense?

That's when I either sub him off or swap him with another player in the 11 so that he has a role where there are easy passing options available. In some cases I lower the tempo as well to help things. Fairly easily dealt with.

That's how I deal with it. What do you do?

Great, thanks for the advice. Thank you for opening my eyes to this. Really, thank you. I'd never have thought it. I mean, I've only won the Champions League twice with the team in question. Funny how it also happens when my player statuses show "composed", "calm" and "fired up".

My pleasure. Maybe now you'll win more than just two. :)

How were you able to win the Champions League twice if there's this crippling effect on your players in big matches?

Fabio coentrao - both myself (Lyon) and Shakhtar offered him a contract. He wanted ?120k and the max I can afford is ?70k which he rejects. He ends up going to Shakhtar for ?62k a week!

Club Reputation? Shakhtar plays in the Champions League, and has a higher rep than Lyon, especially if you're starting..

And Donetsk as a city, Ukraine as a country and the Ukraine league as a competition all being of a worse standard... I've never heard of a player choosing a team for half the money IRL. I could be wrong. Perhaps Mkhitaryan last year?

They could also have added higher appearance bonuses, a higher squad status, and various clauses for him to go there. Stuff like "After 25 apps, you get paid 90kpw," "Every time we get a clean sheet, you get 20k" ext.
