How am I supposed to play this game when I dont know how it works?

Now there's a legitimate complaint if ever I heard one. This game's biggest flaw is lack of feedback and teaching.

So I was just winning 2-0, Tottenham vs Swansea. First half ends, pep talk makes everyone happy and motivated. I'm thinking- this will go well. Oh, how naive I was. Suddenly the players become braindead, striker just totally abscent, midfielders passing the ball straight to the goalie, defenders unable to tackle as if some terrorists had their families at gunpoint. With sheer luck we manage to bring home 2-2. Want to scream at the players, tell them they were utterly **** in the second half? No no, can't have that, we'll give all of them 6,7 or higher, so you raise your tone, half of them loses their morale or goes berserk and hates you till your dying days.

I haven't played the series much, FM 12,13 and 14 only. Of the three this one has deffinitely the worst fun/hour factor. There is a reason I've had over 1000 hrs (according to steam at least) logged on FM 2013 and just over a hundred on 14. Somehow I don't expect the second number to get much higher than that.

Anyway, just glad I got that off my chest before i got an ulcer.

every once in a while a key player in my squad get his leg broken and sidelined for 6, 7 months. This injury bullsh!t is so unrealistic!

Having led the Premier League by 5 points with 8 games to go, with a game in-hand over Manchester United - the closest challenger - I was pretty confident that my Southampton team would retain the title that we won last season, and won for the first time three seasons ago.

Then we hit a rough patch of form. I don't know why; there were no major injuries and the tactics were the same. But everything just stopped working and my No.10 Trequartista, World Player of the Year Giammarco Stangoni, having scored 21 goals in all competitions up to this point, suddenly stopped performing. We had beaten Manchester City 6-0 earlier in the season, but now we lost 2-4 to them in the Champions League quarter-final and were knocked out, despite a 1-0 win in the return leg.

City beat us again, 0-3, in the penultimate league match so going into the last game of the season, Manchester United were top of the Premier League by 3 points - but with 97 goals scored, we had by far the superior goal difference. So we needed them to lose at bottom of the table Swansea City while we would have to beat Newcastle United (who we had also beaten 6-0 earlier in the season) at St. James's Park. I decided not to keep tabs on the Man United score - just win our game and see what happens. It wasn't likely that Swansea would get the win, anyway.

We didn't play well and were 0-2 down by 36 minutes. We got one back before half-time and then I got aggressive with the team during the break. It worked - two goals from substitute Jonjo Shelvey put us 3-2 up. And then a little message came up to say that Southampton had moved to 1st in the Premier League table. That meant Manchester United were losing with less than 15 minutes to go!

I didn't check the latest scores - just tried to see out this victory against Newcastle. We got to 90 minutes and the fourth official indicated a few additional minutes. I decided to switch our tactics to defensive and time-wasting etc, but before that could take effect, my centre-back Tin Jedvaj won the ball on the right-hand side of defence, retreated to the byline, and then - totally ignoring Defender's Rule No.1: Don't Play the Ball Across Goal - pinged the ball directly to a Newcastle player on the edge of the D. His first time chip landed on the head of Manolo Gabbiadini, one of three Newcastle players being played onside by Jedvaj, and he flicked it over my 'keeper for a late, late, late equaliser... that, despite Manchester United finishing as 0-1 losers to Swansea City (saving the Swans from relegation), cost me the Premier League title!

To add insult to injury, Newcastle beat us on penalties in the FA Cup Final the following week, too.

That must've been heart-breaking, rocheyb!

rocheyb I know that feeling bro with Man Utd ******** you over. Was 3-0 up at half-time against them in the Champions League final only to concede 5 and get a late consolation goal losing 5-4. The following season it was the rematch losing 2-0 after 6 of my players were out of the game with injuries. 2 CL finals lost to them back-to-back!

Game is rigged (not like it decides who wins before the match starts, but the AI get a lot of artificial help)

THIS is happening too ******* often. This is bullshit. I get judged on how many times I save my games (to prove I don't save/load, as I don't, and am quite ******* successful) however if I don't do it then THIS happens EACH AND EVERY SAVE. All I'm using is LFC Marshall. Nothing else is in the folder. Been playing manager games since LMA Manager 97. What the **** is going on???

When I press 'continue' or any button to change windows (i.e. contracts, budgets at the start of the game, etc) it freezes.

My computer is an Alienware and is well capable of handling it.

Does this happen to everyone? Why is it happening to me??

Artificial help as in what, exactly?

A dont think the AI learns how you play and counter it, I think it employs scripts to make you hit woodworks make inaccurate passes etc...

Happens to me a fair bit, quite annoying, luckily I haven't actually got into a save yet

Complete and utter nonsense. It doesn't do any of that. The AI doesn't get any artificial help like that because it can't recognise the difference between human and AI.

Is anyone counting how many times I've whined about conceding near post corners late in the game? Well, add one more post to the tally. This time, I conceded 3. Was 2-0 up till 60th minute, conceded 3(!!!!!!) near post corners in 20 minutes, mostly to midgets no less. I have 2 of my tallest players marking near post, and man marking the taller players.

Oh well.

Do you work for SI?

No, but I know enough to know that what I'm saying is true. My years of experience with FM, forum regulars, mods, beta testers, SI Testers and SI ME coders can't all be wrong/lying.

Today I found myself rage quitting after going 2-0 down to Chelsea. In the 40th minute. Just the 6th game of the season.

To say I feel ashamed would be an understatement. I try to avoid save/loading at all costs as I believe that its not how the game should be played but I just get so frustrated when I really shouldn't. I'm still 5th in the league with a Blackburn Rovers side predicted to finish 9th. I'm aiming for a top four finish but I've decided I definitely need to take some time away from the game before it consumes me. And when I go back, I'm just gonna tough it out and take every result as it is.

Playing with WBs and/or 3CD is so freaking annoying.

The WB are braindead when it comes to marking and tackling. The bizarre thing is that when I used to have wb functions in the fullback position they would play pretty well. Could have been a patch thing tough.

And playing with 3 centre backs is so frustrating. The opposition may have 1 lonely striker playing and yet nobody will cover the middle CD. Besides, either winger or wide amc seems unstoppable to the defensemen.

I have absolutely no idea how to correct these issues, some teams will just step over me. I'm almost running back to the safety of a 4-2-3-1.

Man! Drawing 0-0 and set to overload, route one, pump ball into box with a TM up front. Last kick of the game with a free-kick 25 yards out and the player decides to take a short one a loses the ball. How can you play this game if players don't even follow your instructions!!!
