Only lost 1 game in the league all season. got 93 points and still only 3rd behind real and barca.

i had something similiar in a network game. finished the season unbetean, but drew 7. my rivals lost 2 (including once to me) but only drew 3. i had a far superior goal difference but had a couple where i just couldnt score.View attachment 372061

The thing that ****** me off most in this game - the f&cking crossbar. Oh my lord, I hit the thing every game EVERY ******* game without fail, normally three times. Doesn't matter what formation, what strikers, every ******* game. I cannot stress how irritating it is.

in my current fm12 network game (networks dotn work in fm13) i counted back at the end (by checking match stats of every game) of the season and i hit the woodwork 66 times.

ive posted a lot on here about how bad i think this game is and all the problems ive had with it. ive had to revert to fm12 for my network game as networks dont work on 13 (constantly kicks out the player not running it). anyway, ive decided to give fm13 one final go in a single player. so game starts mid july and i reach 19 august and i player i start with on loan asks for his loan to be terminated because hes not playing enough? he appeared in 4 out of my 5 friendlies, i was two weeks into the season (admittedly he hadnt featured) and he wants to leave already without asking for a game????
still having problems of wild shooting from players who can apparently shoot, but atleast im getting a few goals as well so ill give it a few months and see how it goes.

How is it a fact its not fixed? They opponent didnt have 1 shot the whole game. And then at the death they scored.. hmm.

this happens in real football all the time.
i do agree though. i dont think the game works very well. i think theyv done a very poor job on it considering how good previous games have been. match engine is terrible. player movements are slower, players seem to walk instead of run. most shots are off target or hit woodwork. ive noticed tonight that most of the time i cant see where the ball is because it so small. im following players but unsure who has the ball until i see it flash up goal.

Ok I can see why you have issues.

Look at your front for example. The sole focus is your AF, and chanelling through balls to him. It is very one dimensional, so when it works it, you score. When they mark him out, you have no way to score goals.

This is made much worse because you are playing as a high rep side, which means team typically play quite deep against you, especially at home. Its very hard to get through balls in behind a very deep defence. So your AF is struggling their attentions, getting the ball under a lot of pressure, and firing away poor/tough chances.

Defensively you are getting creamed because you are playing high up the pitch, they soak up your poor/difficult chances, and then hit you hard on the counter. You are also playing a large number of specialists (the 5 playmakers) in a philosophy (fluid) that is ultimately designed for generalist roles (such as centre mid/attacking mid etc)

A few questions that you need to try and answer yourself so you know what you are trying to do:

1) What kind of forward do you want Falcao to be? A pure spearhead? a link for the midfield? a bit of both. Do you want him to his real life role, or another real life role.

2) Why did you pick fluid?

3) How and where do you want you team to attack and create chances?

4) Do you want to be playing with 5 playmakers? Or did you pick them because you felt they fit the players?

Everything that Mike has said.

You've only got one outlet for goals in Falcao, and if he gets marked out the game it's going to frustrate all the playmakers and lead to hopeless long efforts which explains the lack of accuracy. Maybe make Hazard an inside forward, move Oscar into the centre as an attack midfield support, and Isco as a winger or an advanced playmaker off the wing. When I create a tactic I always make sure I've got a lot of variety in the final third so I don't have to rely on one player to get my goals.

Also, I've never really had a successful playmaker playing in the advanced CAM position, it might just be me, but I prefer my advanced playmakers to play a bit deeper, so I say stick with how you've set up your midfield two as you're getting a nice amount of possession, but mess around and experiment with different roles for your front four. I've recently changed Leandro Parades from an advanced playmaker attack (in the CAM position) to an inside forward support as he was under performing a bit, and in his last 3 games he's scored 5 and assisted 4.

Thank you for you opinions and tips! I appreciate it!
You may be right. On the other hand, Falcao scores 30+ goals every season. Hazard, Oscar and Isco score about 35 goals and make 45 assists combined. They're really good but there is a small problem obviously. Sometimes I put Tadic as a Winger, or Ramires as a BWM.
What do you think about Mata as an AMR-IF? Usually he plays as an AP, but maybe I should change his role.

Is there a way of signing English players for a realistic fee? I went in for a 19yr old 4and1/2 star CB from newcastle and they will not go below £40m, so I went off and signed a 19yr old 5 star CB from PSG for £12m. That's fine but at some point I need to bring in English players.

You always pay a premium fir english players just like IRL. Best thing to do is scout the youth teams on the regen dates and sign them on frees at 16.

It's worth giving him a shot in that role as he has pretty good finishing, maybe try him as a Treq behind Falcao as well? The set up for my Manchester City team is BWM(d) - BWM (s) - W(a) - Treq(a) - IF(a) - AF(a) and its playing some nice football and getting some very good results as well. I make sure I have two different players for the RW and LW - one IF and one out and out winger, for example I have Lamela and Allione for the RW and I rotate them and the roles where I see fit, whichever side the slowest/weakest fullback is for the opposition I'll make sure to start my pacey winger down that side, and the IF on the other side to drag the stronger full back out of position so my WB has space to run into.

You don't seem to do that bad in terms of goals and assists from players, so you could keep your normal set up, but if you notice your team struggling in game to break the opposition it might be worth tinkering with the roles then to get a bit more directness to your play.

This is it, when it works, it works because you have such good players. When its stopped by the opposition for whatever reason, you get those type of results.

If you dont want to change that one, perhaps create yourself a 2nd slight different variation?

Every time I open this site, I wonder.... when will "that man" shows up???
I've tried lots of tactics, but it seems that the boot always kick my bu**!!

I had to deal with 9 injuries at the same time during my Espanyol save 3rd season, which eventually cost us a Europa league spot.

That's probably quite annoying if you're not a Rangers fan (which I am)

I brought a team up from League 2 to the Premier League. The last few seasons I have been stuck at finishing 5th in the league. Just can not get past Chelsea, Arsenal, and the Manchester clubs. Have not won any trophy's since the League 1 title. It is becoming obvious that I need a higher level of player. Since I am frugal, or more likely a cheap *******, I do not spend money on transfers. I get players on free or buy them when they are young and build them up to a pretty high standard. So at the start of the latest season I decided to spice things up and turn over bringing in new players to the DoF and HoYD. Lets see what they can do as I am not going to interfere in any way. They have spent $70 million so far. The DoF seems to want to sign every striker in the world. He has signed 6 so far. I better win something now as I do not see how this spending is sustainable for my small club. I will be over $100 million in the red by the end of the season. This is going to turn out to be a very bad idea.

In 2019 Euro Cup Quaterfinal, my team should've scored in the 4th minute on a clearly onside goal and my team imploded after getting frustrated with that badly blown call. The referee was awful and ended up costing me a game I obliterated the other team.

What do you mean by regen dates? I think I definitely need to scour youth teams. Ended up paying £10.5m for a 400k 18yr old from championship who had played only 12 games...

there are specific dates that each country produces regens each year and go in the youth team, this is all I could find its post number 8 check out the youth teams on these dates and you can sign them for free well for compensation but at least you don't have to deal with the clubs

This is a frustration as much as it is a call for help - I have a striker that has not scored for about 14 games, he gets loads of assists and puts in good performances but he constantly misses the target; the amount of times he shoots from 3/4 yards out and misses is unreal. When he does take a good shot the keeper always saves. His stats are good, fin16, cmp13, off18. It's as if the game doesn't want him to score. What can I do? Has anyone overcome this kind of thing before?
