In March (of my second season) the new intake of youth players come through and the star player is a wonderkid DM. So I'm sat there watching the U18s v the Trialists and in the second half it flashes up saying he's been injured, I didn't think it would be that bad. Once the game was over, it pops up saying he's out for 6 months with a broken leg and I can't sign him :@ Out of all the players, why him?

...

Strasbourg and other French clubs have a long history of signing african players from their less reputable African teams.

but sure....call me racist. XD

there it is again, racist slander. we're not in the 80s any more you can't say that type of thing nowadays

I keep bringing this up because it has been this way for years. I just want an explanation from the creators of the game. It happened to me again this morning. My scout found me a phenom 19 year old MC. I offer a contract and he wants 4K, my board will only allow 3.3K and the kid counter's with no less than 3.7K so I walk away. 2 weeks later, he signs for a worse club in my league for 1.1K. What, please tell me, does this reflect about reality in any way? It has ALWAYS been like this with no explanation!

Wayne Rooney handing in a transfer request. His value keeps going down, and no-one is interested in making a fair offer. Wouldn't be surprised if he ended up leaving for £15M :@

I hate the way the game makes you lose sometimes, every time I play a better team than me they don't score through open play using their better players. Instead what will happen is my players suddenly turn into idiots, giving away penalties, getting sent off and scoring own goals.

Seems like a strange complaint but last season I had an unbelievable amount of injuries. So much so that I had to raid my youth team just to have enough players to put on the field! In the offseason I seriously overloaded my roster. Signed a ton of promising prospects knowing I would get a chance to develop them. So, now I am a third of the way into the new season and I have had NO injuries! As a result, all of these prospects are asking to meet with me since they are ticked off to not be starting or getting enough PT. Inevitably I am about to have a bunch of unhappy players demanding transfers. Awesome.

I'll give you a ******* frustration

Me 6th in League one with Basingstoke vs 20th place Wycombe.

Wycombe's first four shots, Were all on target and all ****** goals. THATS FRUSTRATING FOR ME. *bashes head on keyboard till blood appears*

Positive pre match teamtalk as well.

Game is so frustrating at times.

I'm currently playing against Chelsea in CL and they took 2 (TWO!) fkin shots and they are winning 3:0. WTF!?

My current frustration is a stupid sending off bug that ruins games. In about nine seasons I've seen this about half a dozen times -- thankfully only once to me.

Basically ball gets hoofed forward, keeper comes to the edge of the box to collect under no pressure at all. Then he walks out of his box still holding the ball. Red card.

Hi, I've read a lot of this thread and others on here but this is my first actual post. I didn't know whether to make my own thread for this but I've decided to post it here.

Basically, I feel like this game, since the latest patch, doesn't reward effort any more. The outcomes of the games seem to be determined by about 5% tactics, 20% morale and 75% glitchy defending in the match engine. On all previous versions of FM, and this one prior to the latest patch, I've been capable of over-achieving with pretty much any club I take over. Don't get me wrong, I don't want the game to be too easy, I want it to be a challenge.

The only thing is, when I put in the time and effort to nurture my teams' morale through team meetings, having reasonable training levels, the correct team-talks, individual player interactions and high win bonuses, to create tactics that suit the players at my disposal and prepare them sufficiently, to scout out good players and build a balanced squad, you'd expect your results to improve.

However, you can go into a match, at home to the bottom club, brilliant form and morale, they've all reacted well to your team-talk, they're perfectly well-trained in all of your tactics, and they go out there, dominate the game, create 15 chances, hit the post 6 times, and finally break through in about the 70th minute, then you'll make your last substitution, and then suddenly your centre back will come off injured, a substitute that's been on the pitch for 20 minutes will pick up two bookings, the opposition, who've won 2 games and scored 10 goals all season will score a goal set up beautifully by your full back, then a penalty, and then another from a corner and you'll lose.

Now I understand that real life teams have these games in real life where everything just goes horribly wrong, but not 6-7 times a season. And the worst thing is, you know as soon as you have one match like this, the next 2 or 3 will follow a familiar pattern no matter what you do with tactics, team selection, morale and match preparation. It's silly.

I am currently in the process of doing a world tour, going round each country at random and winning a trophy in each one and then moving on to the next one, and I love the ability to do this thanks to the Add/Remove Leagues feature, but if it wasn't for that, I certainly would have gone back to FM10/11 by now.

Prior to the patch, I played a couple of different saves. In my first one, to get used to the game, I managed Arsenal and won nearly all of my matches and topped the league after 15 or so matches. Then I went for a more challenging game, starting unemployed and taking a job mid-season at Droylsden. I was able to save them from promotion in my first half season, win the play-offs to get promoted to Blue Square Premier in the second season and then stabilise them as an upper mid-table side. I then moved to a Portuguese Second League side, Lagoa, and after three seasons, I got them promoted to the Second Division, and after another three seasons, I got them promoted again to the Premier Division in Portugal, where I finished mid-table in my first season.

Now the point I'm making is that these are all over-achievements, but not totally unrealistic, it was a lot of fun and I thought the game was well-balanced in terms of difficulty. Now though, it just feels like the game is ******** you over. Invariably, I will start a season with a team in my Journeyman career, have a great first half of the season, overachieve, morale will be great, then out of nowhere, boom, inexplicable 6 match losing streak for no apparent reason. Again, this is something that happens in real life, but what gets me is the lack of explanation. It's not morale, they've all got very good or at least okay morale, I make sure of that and I've spent a lot of time learning how to man manage my squad since the new patch made morale management more realistic and something you actually have to spend time on. It can't be my tactics, I rotate them and my squad so there's no way they can be accused of being too predictable, and all of my tactics have delivered good results in the past, with current and past teams. It can't be my players, they all have attributes and current ability that are comparable to, and usually better than my opposition, and have been on great form all season, yet they suddenly start missing open goals, putting the ball through their own net, giving away penalties, getting sent off frequently, and again, I'm no newbie to this series, I understand how everything works tactically, eg. playing easy tackling or standing off opponents/staying on feet does little to reduce the amount of cards I pick up, I just don't get it, it feels like every season I go into I know I'm going to have to build up a 20 point gap over where I want to finish because at some point the team will implode for no reason and write off a quarter of the campaign, because no matter what I do, I know my players will go through a phase where the defenders act like cavemen and my strikers think the opposition goalkeeper/the fans behind the goal are their new team-mates, no matter what I try.

Anyway, I'll stop there, thanks if you actually bothered to read all of that, that's my massive list of frustrations with this game/the new patch.

I dominate the match with 60% possession. I am battering Torino's goal with 7 shots on target. Before Torino have had a SINGLE shot (never mind on target) they are 1-0 ahead. An own goal. They then proceed to score on both of their next two shots, while my charges are still dominating with 10 shots on target but can only manage 1 goal. And of course mid way through the gamemy main defender gets a red card. I lose 3-1.

Two words, Sports Interactive: **** off

Oh and another one. Stven Taylor goes off injured, but is let back on halfway into my own half instead of halfway line and proceeds to play half of Man Citys attack on leaving them score -.-

@adziom - I've read your entry 3 times and I still can't quite figure out what your issue is. You want to dominate, you usually dominate, but when you don't dominate, you get frustrated with the game? Inexplicable losing streaks are rampant in sports. It seems that your issue is HOW you go through a losing streak right? As in, what went wrong? I think that is a fair question but what answer would you be happy with?

At the very core, losing is frustrating, and rarely does any manager know exactly why it happens. My Pittsburgh Penguins got pounded in the NHL playoffs this year despite having a ridiculously talented roster. They just fell apart. It happens.

@TakedaLegout - Firstly, wow, 3 times, I am sorry :P It is just my opinion on how the game seems to work sometimes. As I said, I accept that teams and players have nightmare games, but usually an "inexplicable bad run" as I put it usually comes down to morale or something like that.

My only issue was that your team just suddenly goes on a 5 match losing streak, and the only visible reason for it is the glitchy match engine. It's not so much the losing that frustrates me (well it does, but that isn't my issue). I find turning around a losing streak to be the most rewarding part of the game, much more rewarding than easily dominating the league for 6 years straight.

The frustration is that there is no apparent cause for the losing streak, its not tactics, not morale, not the players' abilities, sometimes its just almost as if the game decides you're doing too well, flicks a switch, and suddenly your centre halves will start completely missing the ball or letting the attackers in, or giving away ridiculous penalties, or your players will suddenly start getting sent off for two footed challenges when you're 3-0 up and they've only been on the pitch for 5 seconds etc. etc. And yes, I do understand that a lot of these things happen in real life. It's mainly the spazzy defending that gets on my nerves.

Making this game challenging and throwing obstacles at you from all angles is what its all about and that's great, but I would just rather they managed that from other managers figuring out your tactics and countering them, through injury crises, through sudden rifts in the squad and just generally outsmarting you, than from a silly match engine.

I don't want to come across at one of those people who posts links saying "Look I had 60% possession, 6 CCCs and 22 Shots on target and I didn't win, that's so unrealistic", because it is in fact incredibly realistic for that to happen from time to time. Perhaps this is just an issue with the match engine and I'm getting biased and paranoid that it happens to my defenders more than the opposition.

Having said that though, my massive rant seems to have worked as I then went on to secure promotion :P
