I haven’t played football manager since the days of Championship manger 10 odd years ago.

Thought I would reignite my love for the game and bought FM13 when it was released. Being and avid Arsenal fan I took over from Arsene and finished my first season over the weekend.

What can I say, won Capital One cup, finished 5th in the league while Tottenham finished 4th but I only went and one the Champions league! In my first season! With very minor changes to the team, bought Hunterlaar (ST) in January window so not able to play in the Champions League, Schmelzer (LB), and some unknown (CB). Sold Arshavin, Gervinho.

Is this normal? Do many of you have such success in the first season? Or is it just pure luck? Or does Arsene have to watch his back as I am on his tail? :P

Cheers.

Arsenal have a decent squad so winning something first season with them is pretty easy.

Seabear...You must have some pretty special tactic there mate

hahah not really. I have no idea how i done it mate. Just managed to pull it off.
Play with a straight back four, bender as my anchor man, kagawa or cleverley advanced playermaker, wingers and two upfront

I've bought Fellaini and Bale on my save...which Bender did you buy? Dont you play Carrick or Fletcher?

Won the world cup 2014 with England with only one player over 28 years old(Glen Johnson). Beat Germany on penalties and Italy 2-0 in the final.

Winning the first leg by the score of 4-0 was impressive but almost become meaningless until my team decided to fight back. I honestly thought at 4-4 that my team were going out. Nevertheless the result after two legs is an impressive outcome :)

First season with York City, newly promoted to league 2, media prediction 17th, currently sitting 3rd in the league with 10 games to go, also just about to go into a FA Cup 5th round home tie with Man City! And to top it all somehow managed to get Nathan Tyson in on loan in January. First game and he scores a hat-trick and helps us on to a 4-0 win! Bring on the CITYY!

*Somehow hung on a grabbed a 2-2 draw!!

Took Barrow AFC to the Championship after 3 successive promotions, including a League 1 title. Made a lot of shrewd free/loan signings each season whilst upgrading my facilities and I'm currently 2 points off a play off spot with 10 games to go. Love this game (H)

View attachment 293077playing as Wakehurst, taken them to the Northern Irish Prem, won 3 cups on the way and two cups in the last two seasons, as well as the league last season. Financially in dire straights (balance of 150k), can't get youth fac's built, scouting range was downgraded this season to just Northern Ireland (as opposed to UK&NI) - which was a nice present from the board for winning the league, obviously.

Anyway long story short, drew Celtic in my qualifier for the CL, and this absolute LEGEND puts three past them to give us a massive massive chance of getting to the next qualification round, where there is a terrible eastern european team.

HAPPY. DAYS.

Edit: I might add, this guy is my star player, such is the utter shitness of my clubs reputation and scouting, money etc.
