Premiership – Matchday 21

West Brom 1-3 Palace

marco-verratti.jpg

*** (55) – Verratti (pen 6), Burdisso (33), Hlousek (76)

Kyle Bartley made his debut today as he side eased past the Baggies, Zaha was also given his 1st start of the season as players were being rested as a result of the Christmas schedule. Reo-Coker was given his marching orders after 46 minutes for a second yellow but it didn’t hold the Eagles back. Verratti was key with 2 assits. A much needed win 1st in 4 games.

FA Cup 3rd Rnd

Blackpool 3-1 Palace

Blackpool-v-Nottingham-Fo-006.jpg

Canus (23), Perez (48), Sendoa (56) – Zaha (51)

Again a lot of players were rested for the next fixture, the Semi Final of the League Cup. This time it backfired as Blackpool knocked out Palace of the FA Cup. The big guns were brought on towards the end but it was too late, Blackpool progress.

League Cup Semi Final Leg 1

Burnley 3-2 Palace

Charlie-Austin-300x225.jpg

Ayite (39), Cort (47), Austin (56) – Owen (14), Burdisso (38)

The opening goal was one of great beauty, Owen chipping the keeper on the Volley after a 40 yard pass from Medunjanin. Palace were sloppy throwing away a two goal lead. Palace failed to take their chances hitting the post twice, they are missing Fabio and Simpson.

Premiership – Matchday 22

Palace 0-0 Sunderland

Sunderland%20Stadium%20Of%20Light.jpg

Yawn the good old boring 0-0 draw, not very common to see at Selhurst under Casey. Palace took the game to the Black Cats but again Delfouneso will be rueing his missed chances, hitting the post twice. Palace 11th in the league.

Premiership – Matchday 23

Birmingham 3-2 Palace

danny_welbeck_1117633c.jpg

Vaughan (1), Welbeck (59, 87) – Delfouneso (11, 34)

Vaughan scored after a few seconds against the team he spent last season playing for. Fabio made his return today but the man who shone for Palace was Delfouneso who finally had his scoring boots on. Welbeck scored the winner, his 18th in the league this campaign. Palace played the last 10 minutes with ten men, Owen coming off on a stretcher, his last game of the season surely as he is set to miss 4 months with a torn calf muscle.

Premiership – Matchday 24

Everton 1-1 Palace

Leon-Osman-Everton_2510522.jpg

Osman (34) – Hlousek (33)

The major talking point of the game was the red card for Burdisso, he the last man and as a result will miss the semi final 2nd leg against Burnley. With 14 games to go Palace stand 12th in the table as safety looks nearly assured.

League Cup Semi Final Leg 2

Palace 2-0 Burnley

image-5-for-aston-villa-v-fiorentina-gallery-349829344.jpg

Dembele (34), Delfouneso (82)

Palace had five or six great chances but two were enough for the Eagles. Casey told his men not to stand off anymore and to press the opposition, this really paid off as they controlled the game. Dembele scored a provided an assist, crossing to Delfouneso who smashed home a volley that nearly broke the net to see Palace through to the final were they will play Liverpool.

Transfer News

No new players have joined the but there has been plenty of exits as Casey look to cut down his squad and pull Palace into a good finical state to benefit next season. Five players in total have left the club starting with a controversial move as Owen Garvan joins rivals Milwall for £750k, next to leave was Peter Luccin to Southampton for a fee of £160k. A day later Wason Renteria was has been in poor form left to join Hercules for £3.5million, Dean Moxey closely follow moving to Norwich for free in order to cut down the current wages. Last to go was Darren Ambrose to Peterborough for just £500k. Casey also sent a few of his young guns out on loan. Tom Adeyemi, Liam Palmer and Kieron Cadogan all joined feeder club Bradford for the rest of the season. Also going on loan was Sean Scannell to Reading for 3 months and Wilfried Zaha to Swindon for 2 months.

Premiership – Matchday 25

Stoke 0-1 Palace

010310343832500.jpg

Hlousek (34)

Palace are getting good at the 1-0 wins these days, the more pressing approach is benefiting all areas as Palace win in the league for the 1st time in 4 games. Delfouneso seems to be maturing rounding the keeper before passing to Hlousek to tap in rather than risking it himself on his weaker foot.

Premiership – Matchday 26

Palace 3-1 Chelsea

Chelsea.jpg

Juraj (7), Delfouneso (50), Soukouna (83) – Sturridge (29)

Chelsea stumped by Palace for the second time this season as the Eagles do the double over the champions. Juraj scored on his return as he impresses yet again, Palace will find it hard to keep him this summer.

Premiership – Matchday 27

Palace 3-0 Bolton

2214671915_1.jpg

Dembele (9, 17), Delfouneso (31)

Palace go on a 4 game unbeaten run smashing Bolton in the process. Dembele did what he does best smashing it into the roof of the net on two occasions. Delfouneso ran the length of half the pick with the ball at his feet before scoring, the Dembele/Delfouneso partnership looks to be menacing.

Premiership – Matchday 28

Aston Villa 0-1 Palace

article-1238918-07B67100000005DC-165_468x405.jpg

Verkhovtsov (35)

All Palace really wanted was an injury free game before the final maybe a point would have been nice but to come away with no injuries and all 3 points is fantastic. Palace carry great form into the final 4th win in a row.

League Cup Final

Liverpool 3-2 Palace

carling-cup-trophy_2318013.jpg

Lucas (12), Verratti O.G. (33), Carroll (61) – Hlousek (pen 79), Clyne (89)

It was the 1st League Cup final in Crystal Palace’s 107 year history but not one their fans will want to remember. Liverpool took an early lead with an N’Gog cross kindly deflecting into the path of an unmarked Lucas, Liverpool soon doubled their lead when a Rodallega free kick ricocheted of Verratti leaving Smithies helpless. After Liverpool went 3-0 up through Carroll Palace placed 5 men upfront and it nearly paid off. Clyne scoring in the 89 minute making it 3-2 but it was too late and Liverpool went on to lift the League Cup for their 8th time.

Unlucky in the league cup mate, and you are really pulling out the results in the league.

Palace always tend to do well on my games, always get promoted, but never keep them up. I can tell that you are most likely on course to achieve that easily

A great, entertaining read, and keep it going mate

Unlucky in the final but overall an ok month. Can't believe you beat Chelsea. I bet there were some fist punches into the air with that win! KIU

Tottenham 3-2 Palace

luka_modric_1209710c.jpg

Defoe (14), Van Der Vaart (27), Modric (34) – Delfouneso (17), Dembele

Spurs were very lucky, it was all Palace but yet again Palace failed to take their chances and the superior talent on Tottenham made them pay. Palace remain 11th.

Premiership – Matchday 30

Palace 2-0 Man City

Football_-_Premier__512463t.jpg

Hlousek (15), Verkhovtsov (29)

Don’t think anyone predicted this scoreline not even the Eagles boss would of expected a win here today. Casey went brave employing wing backs and it paid off, Man City were pinned into their own half the whole game. Palace send out a message of no fear.

Premiership – Matchday 31

Newcastle 3-3 Palace

Alex-Smithies.jpg

Butin (40, 87), Smithies O.G. (90+1) – Dembele (10, 69), Delfouneso (55)

Palace blew what surely should have been a win. Palace conceded twice from corners and then lost the victory in the cruellest manner. A 40 yard strike out of desperation from Butin crashed of the crossbar before flying against smithies back and over the line, nightmare for the young keeper.

Premiership – Matchday 32

Palace 2-1 Liverpool

Liverpools-Steven-Gerrard-001.jpg

Hlousek (11), Delfouneso (32) – Pacheco (86)

After the League Cup final Casey’s men wanted revenge and boy did they get it smashing Liverpool’s champions league hopes to pieces. Delfouneso picked up a groin strain and will miss 3 weeks.

Premiership – Matchday 33

Palace 3-1 Wolves

1741495-2360138.jpg

Dembele (29), Soukouna (33), Juraj (69) – Doyle (41)

5 games left to Palace are in great form. The Eagles are in 10th in the table and the 5 remaining games look quite kind to them, could Palace do the impossible and make it into Europe? it will be a fight between Villa, Everton and the Eagles, Palace will pretty much win every game and hope both the other sides make a few slip ups, its a long shot but you never know.

Some good results mate. Unlucky in league cup final. Keep it up :)

Great work mate. Keep it up! Can we have a screenshot of the league table, just to know where you stand

Could i suggest signing Gary Madine? apparently he has the potential to be a good premier league striker and might suit your team! He's a Carlisle United player but might have moved by now.

Loving this story anyway, keep on rolling! :)

Premiership – Matchday 34

Fulham 0-3 Palace

93108959.jpg.28280.0_display_image.jpg

Dembele (11, 78), Hlousek (29)

Danny Simpson made his return after 4 months out through injury. Dembele seems to be in the form of his life, 5 goals in 5 games for the Malian. Palace rise to 9th.

Premiership – Matchday 35

Palace 3-1 West Ham

nigel-reo-coker-asto_86579.jpg

Dembele (22, 28), Reo-Coker (82) – Baloy (1)

Dembele continued his great form with another two goals today. Reo-Coker scored his 1st go for the club with a thunderous drive. Palace keep their winning ways as they push for Europe.

Premiership – Matchday 36

Forest 3-1 Palace

dexter-blackstock__1573579c.jpg

Soumare (52), Blackstock (62), Anderson (68) – Dembele (3)

Delfouneso makes his return as Palace missed their chance to climb to 7th as they remain in 9th place. Palace missed far too many chances creating eight clear chances to score. Davies is the victory of this battle between the rival managers as Forest fight for survival.

Premiership – Matchday 37

Palace 3-1 Burnley

zx500y290_1031484.jpg

Dembele (13, 58), Medunjanin (pen 22) – McCann (27)

Burnley failed to impress after the deflated side have already been relegated. Palace still won despite Reo-Coker being show red after just 4 mins.

Premiership – Matchday 38

Palace 3-0 Birmingham

Tshabalala280.jpg

Burdisso (33), Dembele (44, 62)

Dembele scored his 20th of the season as the Palace striker hit a fine vein of form in the latter stages of the season. Palace did manager to keep Welbeck from scoring, Welbeck finished the season as the Premierships leading scorer with 28 goals. Tshabalala played his last game for the club, Tshabalala is set to join Kayserispor for £4.2million, Tshabalala failed to regain his form after his horrific leg break last summer. Palace finish 9th, League table below. Palace would of finished 7th if they had beaten Forest but however Leicester grabbed the final Europa League spot for being runners up in the FA Cup and will tackle Europe despite the fact they will be in the Championship next season.

The Eagles look to start spending

england_crystal-palace.png

With the transfer window recently opened Palace have announced their objectives for the coming season and how much they have in the kitty. Casey will be given £24million to fund a top half finish, £3million of which has already been spent. Fans were sadden to see Tshabalala leave the club but could understand why as £4.2million is added to the club for the player who only played 10 games last season and failed to impress, Adam Barret and Lewis Price also have left with their contracts running out.

media_xl_1512784.jpg

The £3million already spent has been spent quite impressively signing Axel Witsel and Atila Turan. Witsel has joined from Standard for a very cheap £425k as the midfield was unhappy at standard due to the club selling all their best players. Axel is a quite versatile midfielder and can pretty much play across the midfield, predominally right footed the Belgain international also has a strong left foot. Witsel has represented his country 12 times scoring twice. Atila Turan was signed from GF 38 for a fee of £2.5million, the French left back has come in order to fill the gap in this position after Fabio returned to Untied. At 20 years of age he has years ahead of him, Atila possesses great speed so be ready to see him bomb up the touchline.

867257.jpg

Palace have been linked with a number of names, mainly those who are currently free agents, Cicinho, Rivas, Diakahte and Wes Brown just to name a few defenders linked, one defender also linked is Breno a highly rated center back who has just been released by Bayern and Casey has already stated he wants him. Some big name on the free market are also rumoured to be on their way to Selhurst Park. Royston Drenthe, the former Real Madrid left sided player seems to have a lot of competition fighting for his signature including the Eagles. Gunnarsson and Matt James are two other midfielder on the Palace radar but perhaps the most interesting free agents linked are Shaun Wright-Phillps and David Bentley, Casey is reported to be eager to sign one of the two.

It’s not all just free agents linked with moves to the club. Reports suggest that Palace have struck a deal with Sotiris Ninis over a move to the Premiership and it is just a matter of paper work at this stage, also reported to be in contract talks are strikers Lynel Kitambala and Sloan Privat and left back David Addy. One player Casey has admitted he has put in a bid for is AC Arles-Avignon striker Michael Eneramo a very good physical striker with an eye for goal, the Nigerian has 77 goals in total in his 131 career games. I’m there are others on Palace’s agent but this is all the information my sources could receive.

article-1244157-07E91924000005DC-781_468x344.jpg

Lastly Palace defender Jose Goncalves is reported to be on his way out after he failed to agree to terminate his highest earner clause in his contract, without him agreeing to sign a new contract without the clause Palace want him out. Forest, Almeria and Espanyol all rumour to be interest in taking him off their hands.

Great now I hope you can push on for a place in europe

Dilemma for Palace?

1-0.jpg

Arsenal have approached manager Simon Casey to become their manager, Casey has yet to make a decision. The Palace boss has turned down offers from Lazio, Liverpool and Man City but now the club he supports want him, who knows what will happen. Some fans have shown no fear about the matter due to Casey very loyal character.

Relief for Palace

england_crystal-palace.png

Simon Casey yet again has rejected an offer to manage a superior club. Casey went on to say that he is happy at the club and does not want to leave until Crystal Palace are a major club in europe. He also when on to say, " Once an Eagle always an Eagle." The Palace board and fans are said to be delighted with the young and talented manager's decision.

Brighton Fan and i'm following, very good so far! Shame i want to sabotage this sucsess (6)

Pre-Season and New Signings

england_crystal-palace.png

Pre-Season

CP Baltimore 2-4 Palace
Bradford 0-1 Palace
Bromley 1-3 Palace
Hull 1-4 Palace
Portadown 0-8 Palace

A bit of a slow start for the Eagles but the team seemed to play well, squad showing good depth which hopefully can lead to a push for Europe this season. Some goos attacking play but the team will need a month or two the gell. The overall squad looks good for the future.

Transfers

1st the outgoings. Only one player has left besides Tshabalala mentioned before, it was Jose Goncalves who has joined Almeria for £1.6million. Four of the young Eagles have left to go on loan, Tom Adeyemi has returned to feeder club Bradford, Wilfried Zaha will spent the season at Burnley, Sean Scannell has joined Reading and lastly Liam Palmer will be playing for Ipswich.

Now to the new signings…. (besides Witsel and Turan)

Aron Gunnarsson – Free

_45478286_covjoy226afp.jpg

Aron has joined for free after being let go from Leicester City. The Iceland international is a good all-rounder and will look to fight for a spot in the center of midfield. At 22 years old he is still young and hopefully can improve while making and impact in his debut season in the Premiership.

Wes Brown – Free

wes_brown.jpg

Wes now 32 years old is a vastly experienced player with two Champions League medals, one FA Cup medal, two League Cup medals and five Premiership medals. He will be looking to push for a first team spot be may find himself used as backup.

Nelson Rivas – Free

22892_news.jpg

A former Inter Milan player the 29 year old should be at the peak of his career. After Breno’s work permit was turned down Casey set his sights on Rivas, the speedy Colombian can play across the defence and will surely get his fair share of games.

David Bentley –Free

DavidBentleyITV_1039277.jpg

When David was released from Tottenham there was a number of clubs chasing but Palace managed to land the 7 time cap English winger. His career has halted a bit but his ability still remains, at 27 his best years could be a Selhurst Park all he needs is belief in him to shine.

Matt James – Free

1268999073-Matt_James.jpg

James played under Casey in the Championship in Casey’s managerial debut season, when he saw Matt released from United he knew straight away he wanted to sign the 21 year old. Matt has the ability he may not get much game time this season but I expect big things from him in the future.

Royston Drenthe – Free

Royston%20Drenthe_633795351712822500.jpg

Another player highly sought after when released this summer. Drenthe has been a bit of a waste of talent so far in his career but Casey wants to put this in order and get the best from the gifted Dutchman. Royston could be deployed on the left wing or the Left wingback position if needed.

Sotris Ninis - £2.3millon

ninis.jpg

A bargain buy for Palace as the tricky joins from Panathinaikos, the Greek winger will hav a lot of competition this season compare to his days at his old club. At 22 again a young signing stating Palace are looking to the future.

Leandro Damiao - £7.25millon

5198578.jpg

After last season’s amount of missed chances Casey wanted to bring in a striker but only one, he chose to bring this Brazilian from Internacional for a new record fee. The 6’2” striker who is 23 will have high expectation put on him, Leandro did impress in pre-season already though in his one game played, scoring a hat trick while setting up two. Looks to be a good all-rounder but the competition from Dembele, Delfouneso and Owen will be fierce.

Great Transfers and I'm glad you didn't leave for Arsenal It would have ruined the story. Don't like Crystal Palace as I'm sure you can understand with the place North End are in at the minute but I absolutley love this story. Keep up the good work.

Really, really enjoying this story. Hope I can emulate this with my save. Please have a read of my story - AFC Wimbledon - The Rise of the Wombles. I'm definitely a follower to this story. Good luck for the season.
