Striker's fire a blank in dissapointing month.

Stockport County opened the PremierLeague campaign in dissapointing style and the criticism seems to be aimed towards the striker's Ben Hogg and Andy Rooney, the striker's have been unable to score this month with the other players playing their part, but the chances aren't being put away. "We're playing brilliantly in all areas of the pitch except in the 18 yard box, we have striker's who aren't on top of their game at the minute, but I am sure they will soon deliver the goods." Said manager Sam Charnock. With the club predicted 15th, it seems clear that Stockport are now an established Premier League club.

Stockport County 0 - 1 Aston Villa

With both teams having their fair of shots, it was former Rochdale man Craig Dawson who opened the scoring on just 3 minutes, with a thumping header from a corner, midfielder Craig Thomson came close for Stockport but his shot went wide, Stockport never really threatened the goal with just 3 of their 8 shots on target. It seems clear that both teams accept that Aston Villa deserved the 3 points.

Everton 1 - 0 Stockport

Again, all you had to do was look at the 'Shots' stats to see who was the better side in this encounter between two teams who were evenly matched going into the game. Stockport had 16 shots with just a poor show of 2 on target. Everton took their chance when it came along when Jonjo Shelvey scored on the 9 minute mark with a good finish from 20 yards out.

Stockport 4 - 0
Leyton Orient

There was no contest here as Stockport were rampant with David N'Gog showing Andy Rooney and Ben Hogg how it's done with 2 good goals, it was Craig Thomson who got the other goal with Lee Hills grabbing his 1st goal for Stockport.

Fulham 1 - 0 Stockport

Again, Stockport drew a blank which rounded off a poor month, Matias Suarez got the goal which condemned Stockport to a month they didn't want to happen in the first month of an important campaign.
Not the month we had in mind, but it can't really get any worse, there will be some changes in the side and hopefully we can get that next week against Newcastle United.
great read. can you post the other league divisions as they are in your save so we can see where other teams are. not seen a game so advanced in time before. good work(H)

Stockport stay strong and go unbeaten...except against Birmingham!

Ryan Tunnicliffe has been instrumental in Stockport's form this season.

Stockport County FC were in the mines of English Football before Sam Charnock took over but now after a great run of form they currently are battling for a Europa League place. With the past few months needed great form with matches coming up against Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United, Stockport needed to pick up points to steer away from the relegation zone but instead have now clawed up the table to get to within grasp of Europa League spot.

Only Birmingham have been able to beat Stockport with a narrow 1-0 win but Stockport have every reason to be not too down-hearted.

Carl Baker:

"This is a club I love, and to manage my club at the highest level would be a personal dream of mine, and I'd do everything I can to talk to the chairman about the managerial position because there was previous talks but The Gaffer stayed on."

Sam Charnock:

"This is my job, I've took this club, my club to the dizzee heights of the Premier League and for one of my best friends to try and tap up my job is a disgrace."

"Will you sack him"

Nope, he's cool.

Season 2020-2021
End of season.

Another solid season in the Barclays Premier League for minnows Stockport County as manager Sam Charnock has lead them to a succesful season with more midtable security with a 13th finish in the table. Stockport could have easily finished in a higher position if it wasn't for sloppy results and last minute goals. The highlight of Stockport's season was undoubtedly an incredible 4-1 win over arch-rivals Manchester City.

League Position: 13th
Manager's Player of the season: Chris Hicks - Left Back
Top Goalscorer: Andy Rooney - 10

Expectations for new season:

Qualify for Europe - We now have the players to do so, and have proved we can battle against the big clubs, they're many clubs looking at out players and we've managed to hold onto them with clubs such as Tottenham and Liverpool bidding for defender Stuart Dance who almost left but stayed which shows that we are not selling club, we're a club that will move forward and have shown that in past seasons.

Media again predicts us at 15th

Let's hope you qualify for Europe mate. :)

You still doing that joint story with Josh?

Yeah, hopefully. :)

And yeah I think it's still going, unless he thinks something else. :)

I Love My Job

In a recent interview with Simon Smedley, writer of the Stockport Express, has been told by Sam Charnock that he loves his job, managing the club he loves, and with his idol, Jim Gannon who was appointed a Coach after being unemployed for more than 18months and jumped at the chance of returning to his favoured club.

HE'S BACK!

"It was agony being out of football for so long, but when Sam Charnock offered me the chance to return to Stockport, I couldn't refuse, as a Coach, it's easier and less pressure as I can just relax and enjoy my job."

As the January transfer window approaches, Sam Charnock has revealed that 4 players will join the club and goalkeeper Dejan Konstandovic will depart to Sevilla.

Stevie Van Der Wiel, Paul Taylor, Luis Montepeque and former Sunderland man Jordan Hendersen will join from Bristol City.

Also, it looks increasingly likely that full back Luis Ramos will leave the club after struggling to settle in at Stockport and recently was allowed to leave for his native Spain, but stated that he still can't settle in at Stockport.
