Season Review - 2018/2019

As manager, the worst thing that happened to me was when Ian Leach took over the club, the chairman gave me alot of transfer funds but not alot of money for wages. I had £14M to spend on players and I think with this I brought in as much players as possible, and as young which would allow me to register more players for the season.

We finished the season in 14th place which I am quite pleased with, this season I am confident we can push for a top half finish. The back end of the season I gave Lee Hills a few games at Left-Back and I was very pleased with what I saw, this will now push Chris Hicks for a first team place and the battle will be interesting to see.

I also rejected the job offer from Manchester United, but it's such a compliment when a club of that stature offers you the job of manager.
Here are the players that I managed to persuade to come to the club aswell as the players that sadly left:

Squad:

August and September have both been great months - a great start to the season for Stockport County.
We currently ocupy 2nd place, the highest ever position Stockport County have ever been in!
Hopefully it can stay that way which I know would be a big ask, but with this squad, it's possible. The factor maybe being that we've changed our formation to a traditional 4-4-2, the fact that we've kept so many of last year's squad seems to benefitting us aswell.
17 year old, Ben Hogg, has also been brilliant and proved that he is worth the £10M price tag, he's scored 4 goals, and his effort has been brilliant, and no-one can fault that.

Preffered Line Up.

League Table

Appreciate that big Dave ;)

2019 - 2020

Charnock Reveals All.

In a recent interview exclusively with the Stockport Express, Stockport manager Sam Charnock revealed all.
He told the Express how frustrating life is at Edgeley Park and feels he isn't getting full credit for his work, and people don't realise what he's put in.
Charnock stated: "I'm getting increasingly frustrated by the amount of money his Chairman is limiting me too, under Jim Melrose I had a very useful budget and now I am only receiving quarter of that. I put so much commitment and effort into this job and have done to get us into the Premier League and now I feel after 10 years in the job, I'm finally feeling the pressure, and when teams like Manchester United approach you and give you a £60 million budget, you think to yourself, which is the right decision, but I stayed with Stockport, and I always will, but I think the Chairman needs to respect me more, and not take for granted what I've done in the past, this club needs money to survive, we have a small squad, and we need everyone to help us out, if Mr Leach had less money than Mr Melrose, why did he take over?"

------

Stockport County fanatic, Scott Chegg had this to say:

I completely agree with Charnock, he's done so much to get this club this far and we are now looking at Europe, and we fans can see he is having to sacrifice our better players, and when players such as Ben Hogg and Andy Rooney aren't performing, it's going to be tough and Charnock needs to take an Ultimatum.

Season:

League: 12th

Delighted with that finish, it shows we are no longer relegation candidates and shows that we are pushing for top half football despite having many injuries and players underperforming.

FA Cup: 6th Round

We battled so hard in this competition, beating good teams, we ended up coming across Liverpool, we drew 1 - 1 which then took both teams to a Second Leg at Anfield, and things turned as Liverpool won the game 2 goals to our 1.

Player Of The Season: (Fans)

Diego Camara - Diego was a rock at the back at for us, and never dissapointed us, he never let us down and always fought for the team, at the start of the season he didn't appear in the starting XI but soon after he squezed in and now I'm glad I gave him the chance.

My Player Of The Season:

Morten Johansen - Morten revelled in his new role at the club and banged in 12 goals from Center Midfield and is now getting better and better every season.

My 'Your ******* Me Off' Player Of The Season:

Andy Rooney - I paid £11.75M for Rooney, and has been really poor since he joined, he joined Atletico Madrid at the back end of last season and got 4 in 9 which is quite decent I suppose, I really expect much, much, much more.

Signings:

You can see that I was only limited to £10M this season!

I've decided to end this story, as I don't think I can take County any further, and it feels weird, now that they've been relegared in real life for some reason, I've enjoyed and thanks to the people who have followed it, I will keep playing it and if I manage to do something amazing I may re-open the thread and let people know.

I've also been looking forward to starting a new storty before the season finishes so I hope that would be ok.

I will close this soon.

Here's to the man from Uruguay! - Charnock's doing it for Bergara.

With the new season approaching, manager Sam Charnock is now amongst the greatest manager's in Stockport's history, with manager's such as the late Danny Bergara and Jim Gannon with also big name's such as Gary Megson and Dave Jones who, both have been so influencial in the world of football. July 2009, was the day Sam Charnock took charge with a budget of £0 and a low wage budget, with a finish of 20th would be an incredible achivement but to finish the season in 11th is something else, the next season would be something else which not many people expected, they got promoted via the play-offs with former fan's favourite Lauri Dalla Valle getting the winner, the next few season's in the Championship we're tough, very tough, Stockport stayed up, just and it took a few season's for Stockport to establish themselves in the second tier of English Football, but the moment came when Stockport fans realised, they had a special manager, a very special manager who guided them to the Play-Offs. Bearing in mind, Stockport had never been in the PremierLeague, Stockport fan's were definatley overjoyed. They got to Wembley for the second time under Sam Charnock's guidane, and it was midfielder Ross Jenkins' goal who gave Stockport that goal which sent Stockport fans, simply known as 'Dreamland'. Stockport even converted Birmingham fanatic Josh Gregg into a Stockport fan.

When I saw Stockport work their way up the league's I was so happy for my family who lived down there, and I had to go to a few games and I thoroughly enjoyed it, and thankfully all my family moved down and I had to leave my beloved Birmingham City behind but now I'm a Stockport fan, and I couldn't be happier.
