In an interview with Sky Italia, Steve McClaren has come out and laid a challenge down to San Marino boss, Mr Drezzy. He said that if San Marino fail to finish in the top half of Serie B, then maybe Mr Drezzy should retire.
Mr Drezzy hit straight back saying he would retire and take McClaren up on his challenge, but on one condition. If McClaren failed to get Fiorentina into Europe, then he was to retire from Football for good!

The opening day of the season, and San Marino travelled to Verona to play a team they'd had trouble with over the past two season. It was a very tense match, which could have gone either way, how ever, it was San Marino who grabbed the only goal of the game and managed to hang onto the lead and take the 3 points back home.

In what was billed as a six pointer game, San Marino totally dominated a terrible Benevento side. They out played them from the first whistle to the last, scoring 3 great goals, and in all truth, San Marino should have had more. They also set a record today, for the most fans at a league game, well over 4,000 fans attended the game and witnessed San Marino win their first home game in Serie B

San Marino were on the back foot for most of the game, but when they did have the ball, they looked confident. San Marino went into the second half with a 1 goal lead, and they doubled their advantage when Bernecci headed home.
But the hosts kept on pushing and managed to pull a goal back on 66, courtesy of Monrose. San Marino looked like they would secure another 3 points, but in stoppage time, Martinetti blasted the ball home, the game ends 2-2

Pescara had failed to register a point today, but they looked determined to earn some today, totally out playing San Marino in front of a sell out crowd. San Marino managed to survive the first half onslaught, and looked a better team in the second half, full of ideas, with substitute Shipplock scoring on 54 minutes. A few minutes later, he went off injured, but San Marino managed to hold onto their slender lead, and win 1-0, to the dleight of the sell out crowd

foggia_zaccheria1.jpg

San Marino took on Foggia today, looking to gain some knowledge of the team they will face in the Italian Cup. But San Marino will be a little worried, they had thought it was an easy passage to the next round, but in this league match, Foggia totally put San Marino to the sword in the first half, scoring 2 great goals. They should have had more.
Foggia continued to look for more goals in the second half, and because of their ultra attacking mentality, San Marino managed to pull one back on 48 minutes, forcing Sissoko to head into his own net.
On 53 minutes, San Marino hit Foggia on the counter attack, equaling the scores. But it was Foggia who pressed for more, and again, San Marino hit them on the break, Mitogo volleying home on 79 minutes. San Marino had come from 2 goals down, and clung onto their lead, clearing off the line twice in the last ten minutes. San Marino crawl away with the 3 points, battered and bruised.

Another bumper crowd for todays game against Empoli. They witnessed a great and brave performance from San Marino today, taking the lead early on. But Empoli managed to pull one back, only for them to let San Marino back in front with a silly own goal in first half injury time.
Empoli pushed forward but couldn't break down a determined San Marino defence, with Bernacci scoring 1 minute from time, to give San Marino a well deserved 3 points, and 3-1 win. The win sees them on level points with leaders Cesena

Ascoli hadn't had the best start to the season, but they looked to kickstart it by beating an unfancied San Marino side. But lady luck was on San Marino's side today, as they took a well deserved two goal lead going into the break.
After half time, Ascoli did manage to pull one back but San Marino restored their two goal lead on 64 minutes, courtesy of Mitgo. Fredi was sent off on 85 minutes for a nasty two footed tackle, but it was too late for Ascoli. The home fans boo'ed them off the pitch, as San Marino celebrated another unexpected result

Mr Drezzy: Lady luck has been on our side

ladyluck1.gif

Today Mr Drezzy commented on San Marino's brilliant start to their first ever season in Serie B. He told the press that in the past two seasons, he has always felt San Marino were the best side, and always could grab a win, how ever, this season he admitted that San Marino were punching well above their weight, but the players were putting in some brilliant performances and Lady Luck was shining a bright light on them, and he wished for it to continue.
San Marino are still favourites for relegation
