Scotland lose CL Spot

Belgium 3 (Standard, Brugge, Anderlecht)

It's the sad fact that they have outperformed us in Europe by a long way. And we cannot argue that Celtic would beat them as Anderlecht qualified, and Celtic didn't. Also all the Belgian teams got impressive results in the first leg of the knockout :/

Club Brugge beat Valencia last night is my memory serves them right, it isn't easy to write off the Belgium League, I seem to remember Liege nearly knocking out Liverpool in CL qualifying only for 'Pool to be saved by Dirk Kuyt, Liege then knocked Everton out of the UEFA Cup qualifying. The SPL doesn't want to fall to level of the LOI but it is slowly turning that way.

It is irrelevent whether we can name decent players for Celtic, I could name Keane, Kamara and McGeady yet they still lost to Kilmarnock the other week, Belgium have performed better in Europe over the this season so they deserve the CL spot. I presume you are British so you are bound to know more about Scottish football than Belgium football due to the fact that it gets more coverage over here, however, that does not mean the Scottish League is of a better standard than the Belgium League.
 
Why are they still in the Europa league if they are worse than hearts??

Anderlecht drew away to Atletico, Brugge beat Valencia. I can't imagine Hearts getting either of those results. And I presume Belgians haven't heard of many Celtic players.

I am unbiased here, being a fan of Scottish football. But we need to accept the facts.
 
Belgium > Scotland. Easiest call I will make for some time
 
Sorry for multi-quote. In my opinion Celtic and Rangers are on about the same level as Leige, who are miles ahead of Anderlecht and Club Brugge. I'm sure it won't be long until Scottish football step up their game and reclaim the place..

It would be very close, but there is not another team in Belgium that can compete with Celtic or Rangers.

That's pretty much how the Champions league used to work (without the National cup winners bit) But they changed it to make money, yes it's called the champions league but with only 16 teams or whatever, they really couldn't make enough money and would be boring to watch..

Not really, he's just putting his opinion across like everyone else. And to be fair he has a point, Anderlecht are pretty **** now.. Same as Club Brugge & Genk..
 
has anyone noticed how most of people that are calling scottish football rubbish are english? i will admit that scottish football has seen better days but thats because we are destoying our teams with our **** league system, the old firm on their day would give any english team a run for their money, i remember just a few years ago when celtic beat man utd, scottish football can easily compete with belgium, i will even go as far as to say that we can compete with the likes of portugal and holland if we just expanded our leagues and worked harder to produce good young talent, and i know you will all say im paranoid but what confuses me is that in a CL draw that was meant to be an open draw, why could celtic only get the big teams whilst everyone else could get the smaller teams? also when was the last time you saw a ref favour a scottish team? it never happens

You're supposed to be a mod, stop being so petty.. How about McGeady, Boruc, McDonald, Scott Brown? Celtic are on a higher standard than Anderlecht..
 
Celtic and Rangers at this minute of time wouldn't even be good enough for European football, no point in lying about that, Stats don't lie I'm afraid.
