Scottish Transfer News!

We've seen the effect of the new found wealth at Glenrothes, but who are big-money signings? Let's take a look at SPL1 Summer Transfers.

View attachment 30449

Look at Hearts GO!!! Buying 4 players for almost £25million!! No doubt in an effort to qualify for the Europa League group stages. Celtic have also captured two big name signings in their bid for European success. The surprising thing is there are no real signings for Rangers or Aberdeen. Maybe these clubs are waiting for others to move first - let's hope they have a plan for the January Transfer window!

But it isn't just the top leagues that have spent money, the Juniors are at it too:

View attachment 30450

So with the Juniors having money to spend it's no wonder that investment into club resources has begun:

View attachment 30451

We are all sure that more clubs will follow suit.

The preseason performance has picked up after the new signings, but with a look ahead to the start of the new league campaign, the media have predicted a finish of 10th in the league for the Glens. I'm sure the manager has other ideas!

As we approach the end of August, Glenrothes have had a great start to the season - currently in joint second place - even the recent defeat hasn't dented the squad's belief!

September brings the First Round of the Challenge Cup - having made the semis last year, the Glens will no doubt want to go one step further this time out!

October kicks off with a visit from closest rivals Stranraer. Although we are only 10 games in, many are already touting this clash as a league decider!

Also, in the Challenge Cup, Glenrothes have earned a trip to Brechin in the Second Round.

An impressive 12 goals in the last 3 games for Glenrothes!!!

Glenrothes 2 - 0 Arthurlie 30th October 2010

Hilson(11)Loy(64)

A quality goal scoring display from the team in October. With the team performing like this, many fans believe their team can go straight up this season, and dreaming of Premier League status - even if it would only be the second tier! Hilson and Graham have been performing well, but its Anderson who's made the difference. His experience will lend itself to the entire back-line and help to keep them focused. With the team riding high in the league this year again, there's not much change at Warout Stadium - the just keep producing the goods!!

great read m8 you should be in the SPL1 in no time. Just out off intrest is cumnock in the junior league at all being my home team i wouldn't mind managering them

Cumnock are in Division 1 in this database. I'm thinking when Kris was creating this database, he needed a set number of teams of the divisions so some real-life junior teams have a professional team in the league system.

Thanks for the support everyone and stand-by for the update to end all updates(well for today anyway)... It will wrap everything up on the second season and begin the 3rd!!

Also, I'm wanting to add a poll - but i can't find it in thread tools - any help will be appreciated!!

Great story mate, really good read and I will continue to this as you update.

A tough month for the Glens – maybe the step-up in league difficulty is beginning to show. With only one win from four league games you could say they are fortunate to still be on top in the league… but for how long?

The Scottish Cup begins next month and Glenrothes are in the Second Round again, let’s hope they make it through this year – last time out they were blown away 4 – 0 by Greenock Morton.

December has certainly been a month to remember. The Glens started the month with a win over Musselburgh – the first time in four games across two divisions. Then a comfortable victory against Yoker saw them through to their first ever Third Round draw.

Next saw the Glens break another duck as they recorded their first win at Linlithgow. The fierce rivalry from last season has carried on into the current and the Glens currently have the upper hand – much to the delight of the fans.

Striker, Dale Hilson has been in amazing form – picking up player of the month with his impressive total of seven goals for the month. Well done!

Celtic B exacted revenge instantly on Glenrothes as they knocked the Glens out of the Scottish Cup! But I’m sure Glen’s supporters won’t mind this as they look towards the final of the other cup competition.

Transfer News!!

Not a lot to report. Glenrothes have made no new signings – it appears that the manager is happy with his squad. Having already spent over £3 million, he looks content with what he’s got.

One of the biggest deals involving the Old Firm was Feliepe Caicedo’s loan move to Rangers. Man City were happy to let him go for the rest of the season since he couldn’t get a game down there for love nor money! Gers fans will be hoping he brings goals with him as they look to regain the title back from Celtic.

Hearts have also signed £5 million rated Onismor Bhasera from FC Timisoara taking their total season spend to £30 million.

Glenrothes Gazette.

Europe…

Good news for Scottish football fans – there is Scottish interest in Europe in the New Year. Celtic made it through the group stages of the Champions League and Hearts doing the same in the Europa League. Rangers and Dundee Utd had failed to quailify from the group stages in these competitions, respectively.

With the influx of money in the game, everyone’s been hoping for a good European display and lets hope this will attract bigger and better players to the league.

Glenrothes Gazette

EXTRA EXTRA!!

In 1975 a group of young lads walked through the tunnel, played the game and lifted the trophy. Glenrothes were Scottish Junior Champions back in 1975.

And now Glenrothes have the chance at doing the same tomorrow, as they appear in the Challenge Cup Final. What makes the tie even more interesting, they will play holders Rangers B for the £8.5 million prize. The Glens will want revenge as the Gers knocked them out in the semis on their way to lifting the trophy last season.
