The Old Firm win the SPL1 again with Celtic retaining the title, however Rangers managed a clean sweep in the cups - winning all three domestic cup competitions and the finanical boost they will provide!

Also, Hibs shock relegation from the SPL1, having won the Scottish Cup for the previous two seasons, this season has been a disaster for the Edinburgh club, let's hope they bounce back.

But no European success yet again as no Scottish club made it past the first knockout rounds of European competition. With Celtic's impressive league form this season, maybe the new signing have gelled and they can be a force in Europe next season? Who knows?

Wow!! We may not have won the league this year but it was definitely the best feeling ever winning the final for promotion. It's astonishing to think that only 3 years ago this club was only worth a few hundred thousand pounds and now we will be playing in the big league - with a chance of European football up for grabs. Obviously we cannot expect that straight away, perhaps after a few seasons if we can sustain a place in the top-flight.

We need to focus now, look to the future of the club and make sure we can become competitive at this high level for years to come. Conor Ramsey looks like the type of player who's hungry to be the best, he shares my views for the future which is exceptional considering his tender age. I'm desperate to sign him on a permanent deal before his profile rises any higher and his value.

I'm sure the board will grant more money to bring in new players but I still fear that the club is punching above it's weight in the transfer market. I still feel the best way to approach the situation is too improve from within. The board are still discussing plans for development and whilst I appreciate the amount of money and planning involved but we are a football club with ambition and passion for success but we will never become real contenders until we have the proper facilities.

I will be reviewing the training schedules over the holiday, I will look to streamline the coaching process and target specific areas for each player depending on their position and role within the team. A few of our players are getting on a bit and whilst they are fit to play every weekend, their training needs to be less physical and more technical.

Preseason will be coming up soon and I'm hoping to get a few games against some big clubs - for the fans mainly. We are in talks with Arsenal at the moment, that would be an awesome experience!

Until preseason..

Amazing story, keep going! On a side note, how are Dundee doing? Noticed they haven't been relegated yet!

Transfer Update

1st July 2012 - Dale Hilson signs from Dundee Utd for £1.2M - a solid prospect for the future.

Also, Arsenal's Pedro Botelho has signed a permanent deal, his contract was up at Arsenal and Brown quickly snapped the young Brazilian up for free.

4th July 2012 - Conor Ramsey is officially a fully fledged Glenrothes player. They had to fork out £2.5M for him but Brown firmly believes he can become a Scottish legend in the future!

Board Expectations:

Try to avoid relegation, however the manager was convinced they could stay in the league. The board did want to see some progress, in the Super Cup. They expect the club to reach the First Round, depending on the draw for the group stage, the Glen's may struggle with this expectation.

Also the want to reach the Sixth Round of the Scottish Cup - it's worth noting that Glenrothes did make the Sixth Round last year where they were defeated by Hearts.

As usual the media have been all over Glenrothes' promotion to the SPL1 and have claimed they will go down, predicting a final standing of last, 16th place. I'm sure Brown will be eager to prove the critics wrong yet again.

Super Cup Draw

View attachment 35954

The Glens have been handed a tough group in this years Super Cup at the draw which took place at Hampden Park last night.

Many will see Rangers and Motherwell as clear favourites to progress from the group.

Transfer Budget: £18M
Wage Budget: £325,000

It's clear that Glenrothes have major finances as a result of the past three years of success. Let's take a look at what the manager, G.Brown has managed to achieve in his first three years of management.

Won League - Division 1 in 09/10 season
Won league - Championship and Challenge Cup in 10/11 season
Won Promotion to SPL1 in SPL2 playoff final.

Now playing on the biggest stage in Scottish Football, he now has a monumental challenge ahead.

I'm excited. Very excited. I feel like we have a real team now we do not have to rely on loan signings. We can sign players, train them and their value will increase the club's value and reputation. Speaking of which, a great preseason performance form the lads, they didn't give up against Arsenal and held out Fulham.

The Super Cup draw gives us the opportunity to welcome Rangers to Warout Stadium and I hope we can give the fans a performance.

I'm still looking to sign a big money player but it's hard. I don't want to just waste the money but it's important to stamp your dominance in the game buy spending big. It will hopefully draw the heads of the type of player we are trying to attract to the club. Watch this space.

The club are looking into a few young Spanish talents, they have learned their trade abroad and we want to bring the kind of flair that they are taught in Spain to the club. They won't be in the first team straight away but they will strengthen the B squad as I hope they can secure promotion into the professional leagues this season. Having both teams in the football league will only help the club grow even further. Look at the success Rangers have had with their B team - 2-time challenge cup winners.

Looking ahead to the new season, I hope we can have a strong start and pick up a few points in the league which will vital come the end of the season. There are many fixtures in August and I'll be calling on the squad to do a job and stay fit and healthy.

Not a good start to the Super Cup campaign. The Glens were firm favourites of this match but Dumbarton battled hard and took all 3 points. Glenrothes now face an uphill task to qualify form the group after this defeat.

Hilson and Ramsay were pulling all the strings here, in Glenrothes' first ever SPL1 game. Hilson's double secured the points as Ramsay assisted in one of the goals and almost scored himself. The young duo have given Glenrothes their first victory of the season and put all the fans on a high!!

League:

View attachment 36456

Glenrothes have gone their first month in the top-flight unbeaten!! No-one would have expected this start to the season, two wins and two draws - both wins coming away form home.

Super Cup:

View attachment 36457

After a bad start at Dumbarton, Glenrothes now sit in second place. However Rangers have only played one game and many expect them to win all their remaining games in the group. So it looks like it could still be tough for Glenrothes to qualify as they fiace Rangers in their next Super Cup fixture.

Players:

Three players stand out after the first month, Ramsay, Formica and Anderson. These players have been in great early season form and their manager will be hoping they keep it up!

Glenrothes 0 - 4 Rangers 23rd September 2012 Super Cup Group E

Boyd(4, 50)Webster(8 )Zigoni(36)

A disappointing defeat for the Glen's fans after such a spirited performance in the first game. Rangers showed everyone what they can do and got back to their dominating form. This results still leaves Glenrothes with a chance of progression, if they can win against Motherwell in the final game, they will qualify on results against the Well.

Glenrothes fans will be happy after the First Round Super Cup draw, they will play Ross County over two legs. With many "harder" teams in the draw, this could be an opportunity for the Glens to make it to the Second Round and bigger prize money.

After finishing second in their Super Cup group, the Glens then suffered their first defeat in the league at the hands of Dundee Utd. No fan will be disappointed as Dundee Utd have had some European football in recent seasons and are one of the top teams in the league - behind the Old Firm of course. Despite defeat, Glenrothes are still looking good in the table at the end of September.

Financial Review

View attachment 36465

Also, taking a look at the finances in Scotland, Rangers have closed the gap on Cetlic and Aberdeen are following suit. Note also that Hibernian are still up there as one of the richest clubs in Scotland despite their recent relegation from the SPL1. This will no doubt be due to their successive Scottish Cup wins in 2010 and 2011.

Glenrothes are now worth £32.5M and lie in 27th place in the Scottish money table.

Let's take a first look into the world finances:

View attachment 36464

Note that Scotland have 6 clubs in the top 20 in the world money table. Very impressive as there are only 5 from England, 4 from Spain and Italy.

Glenrothes are close to breaking into the top 100 richest clubs.

Nice. Really good start to the season for the Glens. Looks like it might be a good Super Cup run too if the draw is nice to the team. Jutkiewicz looks like the major so far this season.

The Glens are through to the Second Round of the Super Cup after destroying Ross County on aggregate scores - 9-4.

They also defeated County in the league this month and gained a draw against Hearts. So let's take a look at the league table:

Glenrothes are still performing above expectations in the league, sitting in 8th place after 10 games.

A look ahead to next month, Glenrothes will visit both sides of the Old Firm, in two of their toughest fixtures all season. I'm sure that the Glen's manager will be wanting to keep it respectable.
