SD Eibar Se Elevará

Tough start, Hopefully things will pick up for you! Be interesting to see how things go with Mastour as Ive seen a few threads on here and one bloke stated he sold for £60m+ and others have said around £15m. Might be able to pick him up on the cheap at the end of the season if he hasn't developed too well yet and sell for a big profit, Pay for a new stadium!

I will be doing my usual short updates as its the weekend and my laptop is awful, at least it means I will be able to get through plenty of updates.

October started off as September finished with another loss, all though the loss to Osasuna was devastating, it didn't get much better when we drew at home to 17th place Betis. Another heavy loss in the Europa, this time to group favorites Monaco making our chances of qualifying look bleak. The draw to Sevilla was a good result, they probably deserved more but we hung on. We then come to our first back to back wins of the season, they were much needed and gives us a much needed boost going into November

Our league position is already looking much healthy after the last two wins, we are only 4 points off of Atletico in 6th, what was I worrying about! despite the poor results, with two wins and a bit of luck we can still get out of the group stages. Nice draw in the Spanish cup which will see us play Sevilla in the next round if we progress.

November was a crazy month for us, starting with an impressive 4-1 win against Monaco, giving us a real chance of salvaging our Europa campaign. Next up was an unbelievable result in the derby, our win against Bilbao is now our record win. The big loss to Real came as no surprise but the nature or the defeat was disappointing as we actually had 59% possession and more shots on target. The Bremen result was a close affair but it signaled our exit from the competition. Lastly was the most unexpected result of them all, an absolutely outstanding win at the Nou Camp in a match we dominated. Despite the Europa exit it was a very good month.

We are still only 4-5 points away from the top 6 so we are easily within touching distance as it stands. I am upset with our early exit from Europe but its good experience for the lads and will only make us want to be there again next year.

Slowly beginning to improve mate. Dongou looks decent, never signed him before. Keep up the good work.

Cheers mate. Yeah we are getting there, some amazing performances last month. Dongou has picked up his form, changed his role to play alongside Rescaldani and it seems to have done the trick.

Good to see you're on the way to come back to the top. Good luck!

Cheers buddy, hopefully we can push on and achieve European footy again next season

Looks like the new signings are starting to settle and you should be in for a good 2nd half of the season!

Ok so I lost my save an I have had to go back to just before the 3-1 win over Barcelona :(
I replayed that game and only manage a 1-1 draw this time, still not a bad result. I can't believe I didn't save after a win against Barca!! I have learnt my lesson and will be saving regularly from now on!

Great month in December, we needed it to make up for the 2 points we have now dropped at Barcelona. I sided a team of kids against Kyev for the experience. We sailed through in the Spanish cup, again courtesy of a much rotated team in both legs. We deserved more from the Levante game but we really stepped up our game to win against Elche and Mallorca. I think I have finally found the formation that works for my team.

I am still happy with our league position, we are sitting just behind the European spaces and I am happy to stay there for the time being. A tough match against Sevilla in the will be a tough test over 2 legs.

January Transfer Window

Despite stating previously that I did not wish to make too many loan signings this season, it hasn’t quite worked out that way, we are just too short on quality and can’t afford to bring in the players we need on such a small budget. I have brought in 3 players that I feel will definitely add quality to the team and hopefully help us push on for the top 7 again.

My first priority was to bring in a new central defender to add some extra quality and depth to our defence and with very little in the budget Paulista on loan seemed like our best option, unwanted at Arsenal, hopefully he can make a statement at Eibar. We do not necessarily need more cover in the centre of midfield but Verre’s contract is up in the summer so I see this loan as a test before I offer him a permanent contract. Last but certainly not least I brought in Carrasco on the final day of the transfer window, much the same a Deulofeu last year, the monthly fee is a bit pricey but I am hoping the gamble will pay off as we look for continental football again next season.

January – Mid March

The games have flown by since I last updated you, unfortunately things haven’t gone quite to plan so far this season, we are currently sitting below the boards expectations and struggling to find any kind of form.

We have had a really indifferent run of form over the past two and a half months, the new signings have not made the impact I hoped they might have done, league results have been poor with just 2 wins and 4 draws out of 11 matches. Out of our losses, the beating at Valencia aside, the others have been close matches, in fact on almost every occasion we have had more possession and shots, we just lack a killer instinct. In the Cup we were equally disappointing, finishing the 1st leg against Sevilla 2-0, we collapsed in the 2nd leg at home and lost on away goals. The only saving grace is that we go into our next match on the back of a very pleasing 3-0 win against Sevilla, I am hoping for more of the same.

League Standings

If I look at the positives, now that we have secured out status in La Liga for a third year running, I think we can say that we are an established top league side which is a good achievement in its self. We are still looking upwards despite there being a 9 point gap between us and 7th, I just hope we can finish the campaign strongly.

Some unlucky results mate.

Keep your head up, things will improve.

I agree with Patrick - you're still doing great, all things considered, with what you've got!

Try to maintain that top half season this year, and build on next! Unlucky mate :)

That's the aim mate, I don't think we will be able to push for the top consistently until we stop having to rely on loan players, too much changes each season.
