St. George FC End of Season Review
What a season it's been. Controversy, financial backing, on-pitch dominance. There's been a bit of everything, and I'm going to tell you what went on at the Official St. George FC Awards Night, which occured two nights ago.
"Hello, and welcome to the Official St. George FC Awards Night.
The first award is Team of the Season. I'd like to announce the eleven best players that have taken part in our ever-so-successful season, for 2009/10."
Goalkeeper: Alex Smithies
This lad has been brilliant. He's a headstrong, down-to-earth sort of lad and communicates with his defense superbly. He's one of the major reasons that we conceded so few goals in the league this season. After a troubled start, sitting on the bench as Scott Loach performed well, he worked hard in training and earnt his spot.
Right Back: Michael Mancienne
Michael has been one of my favourite players this season. Oops, I'm not meant to have favourites am I?! But he's been sensational. His transition from centre-back to right-back has been smooth and without any fuss. His versatility has been a huge asset to the team.
Centre Back: Chris Smalling
You don't want to cross this kid. He's our defensive rock, and our leader at the back. Whenever Jack Rodwell's been away, Smalling has taken the skipper's duties on excellently. With the aerial ability of a giraffe, nothing gets past him in the air, or on foot.
Centre Back: James Tomkins
I was very impressed with the way Mr. Tomkins handled himself after his transfer request was denied. He did miss training, and was warned, but since then, has been on the straight and narrow and has been a key part to a title winning side.
Left Back: Ryan Bertrand
Completes one of the best young back fours in the country, Ryan provides attacking skills and defensive brilliance. He's up and down the wing all day long, and makes those crucial tackles that you want from your full back.
Defensive Midfield: Jack Rodwell (captain)
What can I say? The passion that goes into this lad's game is truly phenomenal. He's everywhere, around the pitch, and the encouragement that flows out of him is top quality. His creativity, along with Fabian Delph in the middle of the park has been key to our success and they've formed a real partnership.
Centre Midfield: Fabian Delph
Fabian has really come on since moving from Aston Villa in July. He is brimming with confidence and his through balls are International Quality, that's for sure. He's every strikers dream as he gives them a huge amount of chances, and is always pulling the strings for attacking movements.
Right Attacking Midfield: Jordan Henderson
Jordan was a lad that struggled to adapt to life at St. George's Park. He was regularly sitting on the bench, unfortunate personal life events were taking their toll and his morale was by his ankles. But he worked through it, and I was impressed by his effort, and he cemented his place in the first team.
Centre Attacking Midfield: Victor Moses
Victor's been brilliant. Be it at Striker of just behind, in the the CAM role that he so enjoys. It's very handy to have someone of his power and confidence on the ball just behind the striker. And if he is presented with a chance, he will ****** well finish it.
Left Attacking Midfield: Tom Cleverley
Tom's been so fantastic this season that he's a candidate for Manager's Player of the Season. His job's been mainly finishing off crosses than come across from the right, but he does his fair share of passes inside and crosses of his own. His dancing feet are bordering on absurd, and he's got real potential.
Striker: Nile Ranger
The fierce competition for the lone striker's role seemed to spur Nile on this season and he went on to become N-Power League 2's Top Scorer of the Season. He's got a brilliant head on him, and with two fantastic wingers, that's always going to be a weapon.

"The Manager's Player of the Season was very hard to pick this year. It was always going to be between four players. Michael Mancienne, Fabian Delph, Nile Ranger and Tom Cleverley.
They all played their individual roles very, very well but the guy who's earnt this award has just been sensational. He's got a head like a demon, despite being small, and he's made League 2 history with the huge amount of goals he's scored. It's of course, Nile Ranger."
"The Fan's Player of the Season was held with an online vote on the club's website. In which we got over 80,000 votes; which was absolutely tremendous for a League 2 club. But they all voted, and it was decided that, Tom Cleverley deserved the award. Well done Tom."
"The Players' Player of the Season is always a fiercely contested award, and in some ways, it is the most honourable. To be honoured by your own players is a brilliant acheievement, and no mean feat.
The lads have voted and they've voted Chris Smalling as their Player of the Season. That's a brilliant acheievement, well done Chris."
"And that concludes our awards night. I can not confirm or deny any of the wild transfer rumours that are floating about, and you'll just have to wait and see to find out who we get. But I can confirm we will be making some purchases. Thank you very much, and good night."
