Tactics & Training: The " I have a small question " thread

Hi,
I've question about defensive formation. Namely, how best to set defenders. Both the centrals and the full bakcs. So to lose the little goals and that the defender primarily focused on the destruction of the attacks.

Thanks!

You should basically find out what type of defenders you have
If you have cover and stopper strikers you can you stopper cover other wise I suggest to limited DC-defend x2
Basically first you should look your player attributes
defender attributes: Heading , marking , tackling , composure , concentration , positioning , jumping , strenght
Cover defender attributes: all that + anticipation , acceleration
Stopper defender attributes: all normal defenders attributes + aggression , bravery
If you got 2 bit quicker dc and can't get stopper cover combo play higher d-line and swp. keeper .. if slow dc play low d-line

I am playing a high defensive line with the offside trap on. My two full backs are on support duty, whilst my centre backs have a defend duty ( central defender and ball playing defender). How would you advise i use tight marking here? Should the full backs have tight marking and the cb's without, or should they all not have tight marking? please help if you can :)

thanks

all defenders Zonal marking , tight marking .. no other way to do offside trap

I can't seem to find Ian C's training schedules, could someone please link me?

Thanks

Why aren't my players able to score?
I have got 4-6 clear cut chances a game and if I'm lucky they score one goal out of them, normally none. They are mentaly pretty good, their finishing is at least 14 and the morale is also good. So what the f*** can I do?

I play a very fluid, high tempo, aggressive and I am having a few issues.

How do I stop my Advanced Playmaker (Attack) and Central Midfield (Support) from shooting. Over the last two games they have combined for 2/3 of my shots and I have already checked down long shots to rarely.

Also, I usually have 20+ shots a game but only 6/7 on target. I don't mind shooting less (especially from my midfield), so is there a way for me to have better shots on goal.

How do you improve the goalkeepers rushing out, through training?

Increase his Tactics training and maybe give him a bit more aerobic training so he will be pacey also. Then you might think giving him individual training in agility or quickness depending on that if one of them are lower that you'd want to have for a swp. keeper. Thats how I'd do it ... never tried this though. Give it a go and tell us what happens :)

I will do mate, cheers.

Should I have my player learn to place shots or to blast the in the net? Which attributes effect this? Specifically I'm asking for Lukaku.

I also can't seem to teach him any new prefered moves. He is not being tutored so I have no idea why I can't do it.

Thanks, that cleared everything up!

How about the second part? I still don't know why I can't teach him new moves. Is it maybe age related?

How are you going about 'teaching' the moves?

You should be going to the players profile, selecting private chat, then selecting prefered moves, then the area it is in, then the move itself. Some players will refuse cause there donkeys, but if thats not the reason there not learning the ppm then i have no idea

No he's not refusing but all of the prefered moves are greyed out..

When did the player last learn a PPM? You must wait 6 months after they learn one before they can learn a new one, or wait 6 months after one has been rejecting to learn a new one

Also, if you hover over any greyed out option, it sometimes offers an explanation as to why it is not available.

Im wondering when i have 3 tactics setup through match prep if switching between these 3 tactics for different opponents would adversely effect team performances given the fact that all 3 are different formations?

Hm I didn't teach him anything yet but now I can. It's finally not gray anymore, no clue what changed.

Anyway, thanks for the help

Aslong as your team fully understands the tactic, then it should be fine. I would recommend not making drastic changes between the team instructions between the tactics, which is what really matters with understanding, rather than positioning.
