Tactics & Training: The " I have a small question " thread

No he's not refusing but all of the prefered moves are greyed out..

A little tip for ppm's when you ask them to learn one, if they refuse to click the arrow top left of screen and go back. Continue a day and then you can ask them again. If you don't do this then you have to wait 6 months which is silly.

What are the best tactics to use for winning every game with tottenham ? prefebly scoring alot of goals and conceding hardly any? and a link please :D?

I want a good tactic for Gillingham (1st season) with supporting wingers and fullbacks and long balls up towards a target man (Akinfenwa) paired with a quick striker (McDonald) Thank you.

hey peeps. once i've finished a match my percentage of crosses are around 20%. would that increase if i enabled either (DRILL CROSSES) or FLOAT CROSSES? because at the moment i have neither selected

I saw some pictures of people posting the developement of their players in one season (each attribute). It's in collumns and looks like a Word document. Is this some sort of add-on or can you find it in one of the game folders?

Also, which countries do you usually choose when you start to play? (computer performance is not an issue) And if you know you'll only manage one club and set the mode 'playable' for only England, will you be able to buy players/coaches from 'view-only' countries? Is the only difference between 'playable' and 'view-only' that you can't manage clubs from view-only countries?

My best suggestion here is to play to the strengths of the team. If you have 2 players that really lack in anticipation, positioning, tackling, jumping and heading, then these players should not be given any major parts in your defensive setup. the same way goes for the attacking set pieces.

You might also have to take into account that in some matches when facing teams that are less then you, they might focus on attacking set pieces in their match prep as they see this as their only chance.

When evaluating the outcome of the set pieces, what would you say your conversion rate is and how good are you at "killing " set pieces. Are you scoring from every 7th corner and conceding from every 4th etc ?

Float crosses mean that crosses are targeted to far post and drill crosses mean that they are targeted to near post, when they are set to default they often cross to middle. Basicly, if you have tall strikers and wingers with good heading, jumping and anticipation, then use float crosses, if they are quick dribblers more than tall and strong, then use drill crosses.

Crossing % is rarely near 50%, I wouldn't say that your current % is too bad.

Here, My favourite setting would be someone that does not drop that deep, but instead play higher up the field. I would probably give him the mentality of an attacking midfielder a free role and move into channels with mixed in all other settings

I would say that irl, they play rather mixed. When they try to keep possession, they play a shorter passing game with fewer direct t-balls and when they want to get the ball forward in quick counter attacks, they do play more direct. So, a mixed passing games would emulate them good.

Remember that passing, short or direct is a tendency towards one of the 2 where mixed is, weel a good mixture of them both. As Man u have lots of playesr with good decision stats, they can cope with using mixed

Thanks, that helped. I think i have come up with a tactic that seems pretty balanced and should work to me. Do you mind having a look at it if i upload it?

What is the difference between the 4-2-3-1 and the Deep 4-2-3-1?

What one would be best suited to playing on the counter attack (I'm Frankfurt)?

The 4-2-3-1 has two central midfielders (so the defence will play a higher line) and the 4-2-3-1 deep has two defensive midfielders (so the defence will play a deeper line), I believe.

In terms of approach, the deep uses a deeper d-line and the roles in midfield are different as in the deep, you use either anchormen, deeplying playmaker, defensive mids etc whilst in the one using Mcs, you use ballwinners, advanced or deeplying playmakers, attacking mids. In short, the deep 4231 is a more cautious approach with the aim to keep possession and to draw the opposition on to you.

So the Deep would be better for counter attacking then? Thanks.

It would depend on the situation but in general, yes. Just notice that when launcging quick attacks on the break, you will have less players supporting the attack.
