With only a year left on his contract I don't think 10m is outrageous in any way.

Yeah it would be a pretty fair fee to be honest, that or risk losing him for nothing next season, all the while having a fairly unhappy player (assuming he didnt sign of course)

I do believe he will sign a new contract

It would be one more Flamini moment if Nasri refuse to sign contract and Wenger refuse to sell him or match his demands.

I dunno... Only a year left on his contract, but assuming he'd be in high-demand I think Wenger could at least push to recoup what we paid for him (£15m)

Bit of exclusive news courtesy of Ix (Mantralux) on twitter:

"Finally I have some news about the Ribery story: According to the source close to Ribery's agent, Arsenal entered contract negotiations after Bayern accepted a transfer fee "slightly above £20m" (don't know what that means, £21-22m?), but talks stopped quickly because Ribery wanted to have a highest earner clause and a £175k+ weekly salary on top of bonuses. Arsenal apparently have an internal wage cap, presumably around £125k/week, that they aren't willing to break for anyone. That's all the info I have at the moment."

Ribery's wages will be too high, same with Benzema.

I dont think he would improve Arsenal. Better to meet Nasri's demands..

Ribery has regressed would add nothing more than Arshavin..

agree with sunil, better to match Nasri's demands than sign Ribery

Not really, the only thing that had been stopping Ribery is his injuries. When he isn't injured (and Robben isn't either) Bayern is tearing teams apart with ridiculous ease. But the main problem here though is his injuries. An injury prone player joining Arsenal basically means even more injuries.

The original move was made a while ago, so before any of the stuff about Nasri stalling came out and therefore not necessarily intended to be a direct replacement for Nasri - Ix happened to get the rest of her info today after she broke it a month or two ago originally.

But I agree - better to match Nasri's £90-110K (whatever source you believe) demands than to sign Ribery on £175k/week + bonuses. I think it was just an enquiry to see if he would take a wage-cut and the answer was evidently "no".

Robben is tearing apart defenses. Not Ribery. Yeah Injuries have taken toll on him. Good player but no where near good enough to demand 175K pw.

No wonder Bayern struggles during Robben's absence.

"I can promise that there won't be another season like this one," Bendtner told sporten.dk.

I'll be updating the England U21 match about the Arsenal players involved until the end of the match/end of Arsenal's participation:

Lansbury almost gets an assist for England - picks it up deep on the counter-attack and plays wide to Henderson. Shot saved. (about 5 mins ago)

And now Gibbs denies an almost certain goal. Fielding saved but Gibbs made a perfectly timed tackle on follow up striker.

---------- Post added at 04:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:19 PM ----------

Lovely play by Gibbs, who gets down the left wing and passes through to Lansbury between two Norway players - Lansbury made a clever flick back to Rodwell but he blazed his shot well wide from 25 yards out.

---------- Post added at 04:34 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:20 PM ----------

Lansbury at the heart of yet another England attack - this time he tries to feed Sturridge but his pass his cut out.

Arsenal ace Samir Nasri has refused to rule out a possible move to Manchester United.
Premier League champions United are reported to be monitoring Nasri's

contract situation at Emirates Stadium with the midfielder yet to agree a new deal.

The 23-year-old is entering the final year of his contract and talks over a new deal have stalled.
Nasri, who is currently away on international duty with France, admits he is unsure over his future at Arsenal.

""I don't know if I will sign a new contract," Nasri told French TF1's Telefoot. "
"Anyway, the discussions are ongoing. For the moment, I don't think about this. We will speak about it after the match with Poland."
Nasri is remaining coy on speculation linking him with a shock move to Old Trafford.

"Do I want to go to Man United?

First, we should see if it's real and if it is concrete," added Nasri.

Shut the door on your way out Nasri please

Shut the door on your way out Nasri please

What? Why?

For not saying "I will definitely 100% sign a contract"?

Agree the Utd thing is a bit dodgy - not happy about that but still want him to stay ffs.

Indeed. Good little spy he was, too - ****** us up royally lol.

Almost single-handedly lost us the 2nd leg against Barca last year, too - seem to remember him passing to Messi in a more obvious way than Cesc. It was a one-two and Messi scored.

Regarding him, here is a gem from Arsenal fan in Redcafe..

Yeh well after Silvestre, I'm hoping Wenger never does business with United again. SAF wouldn't sell Madrid a virus, but he would to Arsenal.

All the contract stuff re: pretty much any player nowadays is about money. It's not nice, but sooner or later we're going to have to accept it as part of the game. When (hopefully) this all blows over, and Nasri begins to get back to his best form, all will be forgiven by Arsenal fans without a moment's thought.

He says he's not sure whether he'll sign a new deal or not, this tells me a couple of things:

1. Negotiations are ongoing. Wenger hasn't given up and he hasn't abandoned the talks.

2. His agent is doing the talking and he doesn't know what's going to happen.

3. He genuinely doesn't know. Whether it's because it's being done by his agent, or by himself, he doesn't know what his future is. I'd much rather he was honest and said he doesn't know than he came out and claimed: "I will 100% be staying" then get into the Guardian's "Said & Done" Column for leaving a week later.

Maybe he doesn't deserve a bumper deal. Did Rooney? Not on the back of the half-season he had - let's just see what happens and then make judgements.

Maybe I'm being naive but I really don't see the point in getting on his back now when he's not even said he's leaving. I agree the Utd comments were a bit silly but again - they could have been taken out of context or he could just as easily be saying there's no point talking about it if they're not actually interested. Again - I'm probably being naive and the most likely reason for the comments about Utd are probably agent-talk for "Give me more money", which leads me back to my first point. I don't want us to be held for ransom but depending on the source you believe, the wages he wants aren't TOO ridiculous - unlike Ribery for e.g.

Rooney was getting bumper one anyway, just to clarify, that had been put in motion since the january

What do you mean? That the contract had been planned since before January?

Tbh - even if it was; the timing of the deal in the end (and probably the wages he got in the end) was clearly influenced by his apparent desire to move to Man City. But Rooney's just an example - players get bumper contracts they don't deserve all the time. Fans of each club say that no one should be bigger than the club etc. which is all very well and good but it's no longer completely possible at this level. A huge pity but people shouldn't think that this stuff is personal to their club and specific players.

Wrong re Rooney they had decided in january to offer him a massive contract during the close season, wasnt particularly secret news either, around 140k. Only when stretford got involved did it go to 180k, and there was no desire to move to city either

Dont think nasri is doing anything wrong here, like any employee he is trying to maximise his earnings

Well that's sort of the point - Nasri's contract has been in the pipe-line since December and now his agent's getting involved and they're pushing for more money. At the time, he deserved it - now, less so. At the time, Rooney deserved it, when he actually signed it - he didn't. There was no genuine desire to join City from Rooney, as there may well be no genuine desire to join Utd for Nasri. Just using him as an example - fans will forgive and forget if Nasri signs and gets back to his best as they have done with Rooney.
