The spectacular nature of some of the slip ups tend to skew people's view.

Points dropped from winning positions 2010-11 13 2009-10 15 2008-09 14 2007-08 14 2006-07 6 2005-06 5 2004-05 15 2003-04 10

And Man Utd dropped 14 last season, which is one more than Arsenal did.

Perhaps Arsenal's downfall was more that they struggled to come back from being behind.

Bit of credence to this actually. I imagine (hope!) Arsenal will sign a CB this summer, and Bartley will go on loan. Ipswich are the latest to enquire, but Wenger wants him to get top-flight football so Rangers is definitely a possibility. Bear in mind Bartley would prefer Rangers, and was given a chance in the Europa League by them...

Anyway - good article by the Telegraph, which explains that Fabregas has been injured, not on strike and will be there on Thursday unless something drastically changes. Playing vs Benfica is dependant on fitness, not whether a move is close or Cesc is striking:

Great to see Bartley signing a new contract. Brilliant prospect as I've said a number of times - I'm sure Jones is better than him, but if we had signed Jones (if he'd chosen us), Bartley wouldn't get the chances he deserves to prove he CAN be just as good as Jones can be.

Apparently the deal is until 2014.
