hi, first of all great thread. I think a lot of people could learn by only read this. just wanted to say that I use your riot amc in my AC Milan save. and he is really on fire at the moment. I play a fluid, control 4312. with
dl playmaker b2b central mid attack behind him. was just wondering since I'm planning on switch to a 4231 all centre attack mids. do you think that the riot amc would still work as good as before or should I make some tweaks?
I am yet to use a Riot AMC behind a lone FC but I guess that he would suffer slightly as the space where there are no longer 2 FCs that drags the DCs out of position

he does indeed suffer, in fact if played with the complete linkman lone forward, they play almost on top of each other and the amc effectively vanishes from the game

Anyway, I have uploaded the tactic to you

Thank you mate!

Do u think that the new AMC will work with the original Riot FC e CompleteLinkman duo or will be bettere with the 2 Riot FC???

Personally, i have not used 2 riot Fcs before so I am looking forward to the fedback, i am also using the MCL as the playmaker

Playing my first league game now with these tweaks

Yeah, if using the Riot AMC behind a lone Fc, the Fc has to be more advanced and move into channels to open up space for him. Poacher perhaps ?

Hi TBH first of all I want to congratulate for this incredibly detailed thread, I haven't actually tried your tactics yet but just reading about them is def instructive!

Now the asymmetric 4-4-2 really caught my eye as it's virtually identical (at least at first glance) to a tactic that I've tried to develop for years in FM - failing every time

In my intentions the non-conventional winger would be adv playmaker, and the STs a deep lying/adv forward combo (or any that doesn't feature target man, not a fan). At least 3 of the attackers would be good & consistent dribblers, and CM more difensive minded if needed.

So far I never really managed to find a balance for this formation, may I ask what you'd suggest to make it work this way? Thanks anyway!

i was using your original narrow diamond (with a few minor tweaks to suit my players) and doing doing quite well. i decided to give the new tweaks a go (with the 2 x Riot FC), defensively it seems better but I'm not creating as many chances or scoring many goals, I can't yet tell whether it's due to the lack of the Complete Link Man or the fewer long shots or something else. though it could just be I need to make a few tweaks to suit the players I have.

just for reference I was using Dzeko as the CLM and Agbonlahor as the RiotFC but I got offered Balotelli on the cheap so I've been playing him & Dzeko as the two RiotFCs since i changed tact.

I would like to change the DLP to "offensiv spelfördelare", is that possible or will I ruin the hole tactic? I use the 2:nd tac btw.

quite possibly, will test this with my 4-2-3-1 and let you know

i cant see any problem with that. The difference between the Advanced playmaker( offensiv spelfördelare) and the more deep lying is not that big. Saying that, there will be little effect as well

The ley here would be to let the AML drop deeper whilst having support of the FCleft and the DMC. If would restrict the fwruns of the FC so he stays closer by your playmaker(AML), perhaps letting him have the role of a poacher but with cut inside and free role. This way, he will try to find free space near the ball( playmaker) and when getting i, he will go straight for goal

i need some help with Lukaku. am using the 2nd tactic with the left winger an target man. i use Lukaku as a target man. what are som of the best PPm's u suggest for him. and where do we play ball to since to feet aint helping much. am trying tweaks and other combinations as well myself bt i just wanna try your suggestions as well. thanks

Have you tried using the uploaded settings ?. If so, can you spot where the flaws lies. Is it the support, does he not get involved enough or is he simply too poor. You have to remember that he is no way near a complete player, really poor stamina an agility. I am not sure I would use him as a target man at all but more like a poacher

---------- Post added at 02:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:06 PM ----------

hi which tactic would you say suits Shaktar

I have not play3d with them so I cant really say but by the looks of the squad, I would probably go for some kind of 442 and if wanting to use one of mine, then its the asymmetric 442

Thank you TBH, that's some very well thought out advice, will definitely try that.

Strangely enough, my AML/adv playmaker usually fails to be the focus of the offence, even if it's a fairly good player (recently I was trying Masoud bought from Osasuna), while the right winger and right FC (deep lying) seem to connect well on that side and carry the team most of the time. Uhm...

Maybe I should set the MC as a simple central midfielder (now is deep playmaker), and/or concentrate the passing through the left, though I wouldn't want the team to be so unbalanced, just wanto the AML to produce more.

Right now he's set on support, both run with ball and come from deep often, cut inside. But he doesn't seem to do any of that... I'll keep on testing I guess, thanks again!

First of all, great tactics! Since I love central focused tactics, I am using your narrow diamond with Napoli and it's great! I managed to win treble in my first season....

Anyway, I would like to ask you some tips about players that would be good in your Complete Linkplayer role. I was using Lavezzi there, but he wants to move to bigger club. I am thinking of Luis Suarez, would he be good there? Maybe someone else?

Any player that has good statss in Decision - Anticipation - Off the ball and then some specific competence( either really good dribbler and first touch or heading monster etc) will do good

Here comes another little nice approach suited for almost all teams as long as one has a good playmaker and a FC that can play on his own in the attack. We play in a slightly lower tempo and try to be in charge of the game. As always, the key is team work and movement

DEFENSIVE SHOUTS

defensiveshouts.png

By playing more compact. more cautious and with few forards runs ahead of the ball we try to keep possession and/or make sure that we have enough players behind the ball when loosing it. These shouts, I use not only when I wan to Shut up the Shop, leading 1-0 in the 80th minute but also when 3-0 up and want to rest the players and make sure that we keep possession, not letting the opponent back in the game in a stupid mannor. The only shout that can backfire big time is the "play more narrow" as it might be hard to find speca ein the middle against a team using a dmc-mc-mc. In those cases, the shouts remain the same but I manuelly tweak the focud passing back to mixed again

ATTACKING SHOUTS

attackingshouts.png

By using the flanks, playing with more width and in a higher tempo, we try to cretae space againt defenisve opponents sitting deep and flooding the midfield. We use more attacking wingbacks and play more direct. If you want to push up higher and hazle the opponent, please notice that these shouts will not effect the d-line or closing down as these settings have been wteaked by me. In short, you would have to change this by hand

The players

Here, you will find screens of the players settings( just click the roles, they are links) along with a short explanation of you might expect to see them do on the pitch. I have also put down some important stats for each and every role. Notice that Determination has been left out as I find this crucial for any team, regardless of approach, just like the local Pizza leaves out Tomato sauce and cheese in the ingrediense list

DR - Fullback Support

Keeps it rather simple and acts like a support player to the MR winger and the MCright

Defensive Keys :Work rate -> Decision -> Positioning -> Marking -> Tackling
Attacking Keys : Decision -> Crossing -> Passing
Nice ppms: -
__________________________________________________ _____________________

DL – Wingback Attack

In the left flank, we use a more attacking one that make morer uns form deep. He keeps the width and make crosses against the far post as well as acts like a support to the ML and the Playmaker

Defensive Keys: Work rate -> Decision -> Positioning -> Marking -> Tackling
Attacking Keys: Decision -> Pace -> Acceleration - > Crossing
Nice ppms: Inga särskilda
__________________________________________________ _____________________

DCs – Central defender Defend

The keep it simple.

Defensive Keys: Work rate -> Decision -> Positioning -> Marking -> Tackling
Attacking Keys: Decision-> Passing
Nice ppms: Stays back at all times
__________________________________________________ _____________________

MR – Winger Support

Our MR keeps the width. Mainly because there will be little space in the center of the park and as there will be lots of space out wide in the absence of a FCright

Defensive Keys: Work rate -> Decision -> Positioning -> Marking -> Tackling
Attacking Keys: Decision -> Off the ball -> Pace -> Passing -> Crossing
Nice ppms: Runs down right flank, Moves into channels
__________________________________________________ _____________________

ML – Winger Support

Here, we have a winger that moves into channels once the lone FC gets down the flank. He also plays one touch with the playmaker an the DL

Defensive Keys: Work rate -> Decision -> Positioning -> Marking -> Tackling
Attacking Keys Decision -> Stamina ->Dribbling -> Pace -> Crossing
Nice ppms: Moves into channels, Gets inside the box
__________________________________________________ _____________________

MCright – Central Midfielder Defend

Keeps the balance in midfeld and play a more direct game when needed. Acts like a linkman between the defenders, the attacking unit and both flanks

Defensive Keys: Work rate -> Decision -> Positioning -> Marking -> Tackling
Attacking Keys: Decision -> Passing -> Off the ball
Nice ppms: Arrives late in the opposition area
__________________________________________________ _____________________

MCleft – DeepLying Playmaker Support

The absolute key player in this formation. He has a free role, constantly looking for space and moves forward from deep, often dragging the opposition on to him

Defensive Keys: Decision -> Creativity -> Passing
Attacking Keys: Work rate -> Decision -> Positioning -> Marking -> Tackling
Nice ppms: Dictates tempo, Looks for a t-ball
__________________________________________________ _____________________

AMCright – Attacking Midfielder Support

Even of this player has been given a support role, you will notice that he is more attacking than this since some of his settings has been tweaked. He plays more like a second forward and I have tried this both with AMCs and pure Strikers and the results have ben equalily good.

Defensive Keys: Work rate -> Acceleration -> Tackling
Attacking Keys: Anticipation -> Off the Ball -> Decision -> Pace -> Fininshing -> Composure
Nice ppms: Moves into channels, Runs through the middle with ball
__________________________________________________ _____________________

FCleft – Poacher Attack

Our main scorer. Its important that this man can play on his won up there, being able to not only get to the right place at the right time but also to actually put the ball into the net when the chance comes along. If he has good arial ability, then it’s a huge bonus

Defensive Keys: Work rate -> Tackling
Attacking Keys: Off the ball -> Anticipation -> Pace -> Finishing -> Composure -> Agility
Nice ppms:Moves into channels, Plays with back against the goal

I can see people desperate to find wingbacks with the Inga särskilda preferred move :)
