Been playing through my first season with Inter using this tactic. Finishing second in the league and won Europa League.
Sold off Jonathan before the season and Chivu, Alvarez and Cambiasso in January. Only signing I made was bringing back Faraoni from co-ownership.
Overall I'm enjoying this tactic a lot. It barely concedes any goals aside from disastrous individual mistakes and penalties/DFKs. I used defensive positioning the whole season after I tried attacking movement home against Pescara, and they viciously outplayed me. Didn't dare to change from def. pos. after that.
Keep in mind:
- All of my defensive midfielders (Cambiasso, Mudingayi, Gargano) had the 'Dictates tempo' PPM and all 3 failed to unlearn it.
- I lacked a proper MC for this tactic. Guarín and Kuzmanovic are too weak defensively. Stankovic is mediocre, lacks playmaker PPMs and is injured 6 days a week.
- While my striker setups is decent (Milito, Cassano, Palacio, Rocchi) I had to bring up Tassi from my youth team and retrain Kovacic to ST due to injuries. Although Kovacic performed really well once he adapted to playing ST.
In retrospect:
- Shouldn't have sold off Jonathan (just happen to hate his guts irl), would've saved me from having to play tired WBs and MRs.
- Should've retrained Alvarez to ST instead of selling him (WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THIS?). I think he would've done well there and saved me from having to play a 17-year old youth player as backup.
- Should've put Kuzmanovic and Guarín (MCs) to focus on marking training from day 1.
Without the points above I probably could've won the league and the cup considering how small the margins were in the games I drew and lost.
