***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

Have downloaded the tactic, and read the whole first page. Striker in 4-2-3-1 and deep 4-2-3-1 has a target man role set. If I understand you correctly, if I'm a top team I should use my most complete forward here? My forwards are Jovetic, Falcao and Fierro. Falcao I guess?

Also, my wingers are El Sharaawy, Lamela, Ox and Walcott (Cazorla). I just bought Shaarawy + Lamela before desovering your tactic. Do you think I can change to inside attackers if I'm playing with Lamela and El shaarawy?

Correct. The thing is that the more you use the attacking versions against teams sitting deep, the more complete he has to be to both find an create space. The more matches you play as an underdog using the 42121, the more you would need a quick poacher.
So if playing with Arsenal home to Stoke, I would use Giroud but away to Barca, I would use Walcott.

If you have clear idea that brings balance to the tactic, then just go ahead and try it( remember that some settings are tweaked so just changing the role might have no effect at all). Like written in the OP, the point about these 3 tactics are the Central Mids and the reasoning on why a 4231 is more attacking etc.

Off topic man, but do a tika taka tactic, it would be so nice, your are a great tactic creator!

sure, I can make one. Just have realistic expectations on it. After all, the possession, passing completion and results WILL depend heavily on you as a manager and matchcoach. Should it be one for absolute top teams ( where you will face deep opponents ) or or middleteams, facing teams actually using the width and playing attacking ?

My "vote" is for an approach to use in a long term save. Building the foundations, develop the players, PPM's, right training etc. Like Barça or Swansea in a certain degree.

But yeah there's a "risk" of people complaining that it doesn't work immediately, etc. So it's your call. But that's my opinion.

Cheers.

Some more screens of matches uploaded into the Opening post. Going to start a new save with Reading and play 10-15 matches and upload some screens.

All suggestions made with the 13.3 January db. and I am not taking the quality of the players into account, only the actually numbers of DMcs, Wingers and Strikers

Arsenal – Should be able to win the league
If getting one great DMC and one rotation DMC, then you have a great team for it

Aston Villa – Should be able to get into Europe
Great Attackers could do with one more AMR/L. Retrain the MCs to DMC position and Delph, well make him a winger.

Chelsea – Should be able to win the league
Get one more world class DMC and you are ready to rule the world

Everton – Should be able to get into CL
Could do with one more striker. Retrain the suitable Mcs to DMCs

Fulham – Should be able to get into Europe
Needs one more DMC

Liverpool - Should be able to get into CL
Needs one more DMC and retrain the MCs to DMC

Man City – Should be able to win the league
The perfect setup. Just be careful not using too many AMR/L and FCs that likes to “comes deep to get the ball” at the same time

Man Utd – Should be able to win the league
One more DMC

Newcastle – Should be able to win the league
Needs 2 more strikers and retrain the MCs to DMC

Norwich

Not really a tactic for them as you would need to sell and sign so many players

QPR-
Could get them into Europe
Really needs more DMCs

Reading –
Could get them into Europe
Good balance in the squad for the tactic. They are poor though: D

Southampton – Should be able to get into Europe
Needs one more striker and one more DMC

Stoke - Should be able to get into CL
Great team for it. Just need to retrain the MCs to DMcs and wingers

Sunderland – Should be able to get into Europe
Needs one more DMC, winger and striker

Swansea

Just like Norwich, they would benefit from a different approach

Tottenham – Should be able to win the league
Needs one or 2 more strikers

West Brom – Should be able to get into Europe
Needs one more Striker

West Ham – Should be able to get into Europe
Needs one more DMC and one more Striker

Wigan
Needs more wingers and have many MCs so here, they would probably benefit from a different approac

Reading 2012/13 13.3 update, no transfers

( all this info is also in the opening post)
Top of the league. ( 8 games in the prem, 2 in the cup)

Now, as you can see, we have beaten United, Chelsea and Arsenal. We have not really had any posession in any of those games and we have taken far too many shots from distance in most matches due to that we lack players being good enough to beat their man, make and exploit space. In the end, its the points that counts though. I am a bit surprised that tha games have not been more gung.ho so the speak. In my previous save with them, I encountered more 3-2, 5-3, 0-5 against those really good teams

Thank you for your answers. Do you use tactics as match-prep throughout season?

Once the team is fluid with the approach, there is no need for it. I then either use one that suits my matchplan or just Teamwork. Notice that these suggestions goes for all my tactics and not just these ones.

Alright. Thank you :-D

btw, I've had FM 10, 11, and 12 before but I didn't play FM 13 until a two weeks ago. I started looking around for the best plug n play tactics which I've done in previous version winning everything in my first season but I realised there is no such thing in FM 13 (well I dont know one). It's more about choosing a tactic after which opponent you're playing etc. This tactic saved me on my save with a mate (I'm Arsenal, he's Man Utd). Found this before 3rd season, won everything except CL by looking more into statistics, changing approach etc. Thank you very much :-p The only problem I've had is that my strikers won't score goals (especially target men in 4-2-3-1 and 4-2-3-1 deep.) Got both Damiao and Falcao, both avg. rat 7.05-7.10 this season. Do you think it would ruin the tactic by changing to poacher?

If wanting to change it, I would use the Advanced FC role instead. Just remember to look at any tweaked settings that the FC might have and set them to them actially match the role ( i.e "untweak" them )

Decided to start a save with Aston Villa using the LFC 12/13 season update.

With players like Bent, Helenius, Benteke, Gabby, Weimann, Z´Zogbia, we should be able to score against any team. How the team holds up defensivly is something to bee seen.

( First game, won away against Sunderland 2-1)

Is there a need to play right footers out wide?

Or does it not matter?

With the huge touchline wide play, it's important. With the Cut inside, you CAN actually use a left footer as well. The wide play has basiclly been setup to suit 2 right-footed AMR/L because most wingers are. Feel free to change this to suit your squad though.

I have two questions but one of the questions off topic.

Will it work well if i bring up a team from championship will the 2nd season syndrom hit me? and if it does not will i be able to survive the league?

the off-topic question.
How do i know what the different roles actually do? I have played since 2011 and just recently i found out what a BWM is -.-'

It will work just as good as slong as you keep getting better players as well. If you overachieve being lucky and equal and better teams than you starts playing cautious against you, then yhou will have a hard time breaking them down.

In your scenario, its all about you as a manager needing to have a plan for handling the squad once results dont go your way. Its one thing keeping a squad happy and motivated ( and not complecent) when tghings are good in the Championship but you have to take a completely different approach in the team talk, media etc when you suddenly loose and draw 4 games in a row.

With this said, the 2nd season syndrome is sometimes something that has nothing to do with the tactics/the players but only with the manager.

Just look here what the roles actually is ( in this example, I just uploaded a random screen of a DC)

You are completely right, many people actually dont know the difference between a Ballwinner on Defend, a Central mid on defend, a DMC on defend and an anchorman. One one actually studies their settings and their description, its really easy to understand that some players are more agressive and needs supporting players sitting behind and that some are just those supporting players
