***THE BETTER HALFS TACTIC UPLOAD & DISCUSSION

Opening post updated with...

The Players
Looking at the player roles, some of the sliders have been tweaked slightly but the needed stats are still the exact ones highlighted for the different roles

Just remember what makes winning team. You need some players being able to break the pattern, you need DMcs that are both able to break up attacks and launch a counter attack as well as holding on to the ball, dragging the opponents onto the them – up in the field - without losing it in a dangerous area.

Apart from the key aspects of having a determined squad with hardworking players in the back “6”, don’t neglect the most important stat, namely DECISION. Surely, you can get away with lots of players having 8-12 here, but in the end, you need to get players with much a much higher stat to win the CL.

Looking at the most important with the ball stats, it would be something in the lines of (i.e., not the whole truth). If having a player that sees a lot of the ball, then these stats are really important

Technique – What he can actually pull of
Creativity – The options he sees
Decision – What of those options he choses
Skill stat (Dribbling, passing etc.) – How well he performs the action

Looking at players off the ball when attacking. If having a player that moves into channels, trying to open up space etc, these are even more important

Anticipation - How well he reads the game, think will happen
Decision - What he thinks he should do
Off the Ball - His ability to use the above to be in the right place in the right time

Looking at the off the ball Defending. If having players denying space, cutting angels, trying to push players wide etc, then they are even more important

Anticipation – How well he reads the game, think will happen
Decision – What he thinks he should do
Positioning – His ability to use the above to be in the right place in the right time
Skills (marking. Tackling etc) – How well he actually performs the action

Now, if you have players that have a really important stat that undermines the other stats, then you will see him struggle in certain situations

Hello

Good tactic. I've started a save with WBA : great job but i've a problem with training. What did you use?

Thank you

Not really sure wheta you mean here. Is it that you dont understand how the training modul works, that your players gets exhausted, thet you dont know what match preperation to you, that you dont know how to develop players, how to retrain them etc ?

Sorry,
what training modul and match preparation did you use for this tactic?

Sorry,
what training modul and match preparation did you use for this tactic?

I basiclly use what I always do :D

Match prep is used to suit the coming game. If you are facing a poor teams that are going to park the bus, then use Attacking Movement. If you see your best chance is by being better defensive, winning 1-0, then use Defensive Positioning. If you on the other hand feel your best way to win is by scoring from a corner, then use Attakcing set pieces. If you fear Stoke and Crouch, then use Defensive Set pieces...etc

AS you see, the match prep dont have anything to do with the actuall tactic as such, but with how you want to prepare yourself for the coming game.

As for training, I only focus on this in my longterms saves. If wanting to use this approach and build for the future, then try to look at the different roles and try to make them as complete in them as possible. Remember that training does not have any short term impact, unless using a too low or too high intensity that is :D

Thank you very much for this response

No problem. Also consider that if having a player more suited for the Defensive FC role, or Ballwinning MC, and you want them to get better in the stats needed to be a complete FC or a Box2Box MC, then instead of training them in those " roles " you can train them in the Trequartista... And Advanced Playmaker. If being too much " to the left " and want to be " in the middle", then it's better to stear fully to the right to get on track :)

ur tactic started off really well for me but now im on a losing run

How do you handle the poor result ? Whats you approach when it comes to man management, talking to those that are weak under pressure, the players that really enjoys the big games etc ?

Here is a Tactic that focuses the play using triangles. The key is to outnumber and overload every single area the ball is in when in possession, hence the DMCs are more pushed up and the AMC dropped slightly deeper. The Strategy is a counter one but dont be fooled by it. If having players with good decision, then you will be surprised about the amount of possession we are able to hold.

Can I use 3 FCs ?

I have tested this late in games and it has been working good. Here, I have basiclly done the following

If having
2 FCs you really want to use, then the Trequartista sits in the hole as an AMC

The Result
Look at this as a work in progress. I have only tested in with teams that actually have squads suited for it and mostly in the Italian Serie A/B.

So, if looking for a quick fix, then this tactic is not for you but if truly wanting to enjoy a realistci setup and flow of the game, being patient and building the squad to suit the approach, I hope you will have the same great resuts that I have had.

Looking at the Screenshot of the formation or in the tactic, you see that we use…

Sweeper –Just retrain just a DC or a DMC with some brain

Ballplaying DC – Change to Limited If he is ****

DC Cover - Nothing Fancy here

(H)
DMC/support – Hardworking and gets forward

DLP/defend – The same here, he needs to be a team player

MR – Attacking Wide Winger getting down the flank, roaming

ML – Wide Mid
(H)

AMCleft – A Holding Trequartista

AMCright – Deep Starting and more patient AMC on attack.

FC – Your most Complete FC.

Shouts

As the team sliders have been tweaked, they won’t have the intended effect so stay away from them

Playmaker

None as such, but in theory, you could use any of the DMCs

Target Man

None but in theory, you could use any of the FCs

Match Prep & Training

Has nothing to do with the tactic itself and you have to use the one that suits your team.

Edit:
I have uploaded one more version called " More Cautious" version, one that is to be used when wanting to sit deeper and be more defensive. As always, its up to you to actually know when this is a good call

Cheers, looking forward to your feedback. Willl you be playing in England ?

@All

I am starting new save in England. Is it any team you want me to test it with ?
( teams that have a squad that suits the formation)
