Del Bosque took injured Costa, **** Torres and 80-year old Villa as strikers to World Cup. This is going to be glorious.

I seriously wonder what moves we are going to make. Aside from Costa, haven't had concrete links with anyone. I will honestly accept the sale of Luiz and Mata if it means we can get a world-class central midfield for next season

I heard a few weeks ago from someone who has broke a few things to me recently that we have 2 deals as good as wrapped up already and 1 in the offing.

Spain should get through the group stages playing with 10 men if need be and by the time the knockout stages come around Costa would have had nearly a months rest. As said many times by people Torres seems to turn up for Spain, top scorer last summer wasn't he in the confed cup?

Chile and Netherlands in their group, I'm sure Spain will go home packing if they play with 10 men ;)

Probably complete bias because unlike many Liverpool fans he is still one of my favourite players

However, i just think a different set-up and Torres may just thrive on it

I don't think so ... It's time we stop blaming the set-up and face the facts. Torres' was a player who thrived on acceleration and his reading of the game. He lost his acceleration due to all his injuries which he never really recovered from. This then lead to a loss of confidence which blunted his reading of the game. Indeed, he had tried to reinvent himself and results have been okay-ish but he is definitely never going to be the ?50m striker we paid for

I am 90% sure Torres has some dirty pictures of Del Bosque ...

Think you may be eating some humble pie if that is what you think

Costa may be injured but the World Cup is a long competition, Torres seems to play alot better for the national side with like GC said has 7 in 10 for Spain recentley and Villa is still a very good player who was an important part of Atletico's side this season

Never said he was going to be, i just think he can improve at another club... To be honest he was never a 50million striker when you bought him

He was top scorer both at the Confed and at the Euro - but he doesn't really 'turn up' as you say. He will score a tap-in vs. easy opponents or when the game is already decided - but if you actually watch the games he is pretty much still ****. Its just that Spain's midfield has so much creativity, they could make striker with one leg look good.

Case in point - this is his latest achievement vs. Bolivia

Its not what I think, its how things are. It was a factual statement, so franky I'm not sure what are you arguing about.

And I'm far from underestimating Spain, ate my humble pie and learned my lesson after 2012. Everybody was saying grandpa has finally gone insane playing with Fabregas as striker, and we've seen how that ended up. So I'm sure there's some logic in this year's selection as well, but on the surface its not looking good ;)

I would be perfectly happy with Torres, Costa and Villa as striking options with the creativity and quality behind them

It's not a factual statement, its your opinion, just like this is mine

I doubt so, he just hasn't been able to reinvent himself at all

What?

Costa is injured - fact
Villa is old - fact
Torres is **** - fact

Facts don't magically become subjective opinions just because you don't like them.

Hey there, Rafa ;)

Incidentally, saying that Torres is **** isn't an objective truth. There is no "****-o-meter" that we can consult that would prove this. Yes, we can look at his goal output etc but this doesn't necessarily accurately predict what his performances at the WC are going to be like.

As for Villa - how many times have we seen players who are "old" play brilliantly at international tournaments? You only have to look at any seemingly perpetually ageing Italy squad to see examples of this.

Tl;dr, don't underestimate world champions

They'll probably win.

Only one of those statements is fact. David Villa is 32; at that age Antonio Di Natale was just hitting the finest form of his career and Forlan was a year younger when he lit up the 2010 World Cup. In footballing terms, 32 isn't actually that old at all. Whether Torres is **** or not is pretty subjective, since I think he's still good and would take him for my domestic side in an instant. The only one of those that is fact is that Diego Costa is injured, and he's set to recover before the competition even starts, so that's rather moot.

That would be true for any other position, but ultimately striker is there to score, so you can very much use stats to create ****-o-meter.

Far from it - I still think they'll be heavy favourite to win, but the selection is rather bizzare. Then again, VdB never seemed to bother with what form his players had during the season.

I don't wanna hear about Rooney being England's weak link then. If Torres is not ****, then I'm a ******* Stevie Wonder.

Anyways, Spain are favourites as always and Del Bosque isn't really worried about his striking options. I expect them to be in the final.

Seriously though, you got called for trying to pretend that you can objectively measure a player's effectiveness and now you're trying to BS your way out of it. Stop man, it's embarrassing.

I'm not BSing my way out of anything. Torres is ****. If watching him isn't enough, his shitness can be objectively measured. He tried to reinvent himself from finisher to link-up/hold the ball kind of striker, but it didn't really work either.

Clearly you have no way to disprove any of this so you had to call Batman.
