Recent reports linking us with Mangala ... Honestly we can't spend big on positions where we are sufficiently covered. We need to spend big on a striker and midfielder to partner Matic. Someone cheap like Moreno would nicely round off our transfer window

No one really wants to pay his fee, which is why city still haven't done it, despite having the jump on everyone else by 6 months

Way too inflated for a young defender ... Chelsea enquired as well but ended up making a move for Zouma instead

40 million is insane

Yeh but they can do that when teams like PSG will pay 50m for the one and only Sideshow Bob... oh sorry I meant David Luiz.

Even if he does play well for Brazil (arguably the best footballing nation) alongside Thiago Silva (probably the best CB in the world) I still don't rate him one bit.

If there is one thing Jose doesn't guarantee its playing time.

With Ashley Cole leaving he can certainly promise a fair amount of games. Either way Shaw grew up in london/Southampton has family & friends round here and is big fan of Chelsea. I would be very surprised to see him leave Southampton for anyone other then chelsea.

Why? One of your best players is a man u fan... when do people realise this matters very little these days, if at all.

If he plans to stay at Southampton until Chelsea pay what Southampton expect then he could be waiting a long time and probably realises United won't come calling twice. Because we badly need a LB this window so will just look elsewhere.

Mark Ogden says he'll be a United player, if you know of a more reliable journalist then please do tell.

If Chelsea and United both went for him, he'd go Chelsea. I get the feeling chelsea are just seeing what happens, and if United got a bid accepted then and only then they'd act

If it isn't already done (which I think it is) and he ends up at Chelsea, then so be it. I'm sure there is plenty of other good solutions for LB.

Chelsea currently dont want to pay 30m or match United's offer. I think the deal has slowed because Poch might go to spurs

I don't know a better journalist as i don't read paper talk, only stating my opinion. I live close to Kingston which is where he grew up and i know one or two of his friends and through them i meet him in a nightclub in kingston called Hippodrome. Was chatting about football and he spoke very fondly of Chelsea and if he had the chance thats where he would want to go.

I don't see Utd spending 30 mil on him as you have more important areas to reinforce in my opinion, and if you do negation it down I suspect Chelsea would bid as they also need a lb. I just think Chelsea are letting you do all the work now and waiting to see what happens.

I might well be wrong and don't really give two hoots on where he goes, just don't think its as nailed on as some of you utd fans like to think.

That was because Chelsea wanted to spend large chunk on Striker and CM.

Luiz sale gives us 40M at least, and he wasn't a key player who needs replacing.

I don't see Chelsea wanting to pay 30million+ for him personally. We already have 2 actual left backs on the books in Van Aanholt and Bertrand and also have players player of the year winner Azpilicueta who played very well there last season.

I'd love Shaw :{ 30mil is too much though, but even if we pay that I wouldn't be ******.

EDIT: Striker and CM are priority though.

Bertrand!? I doubt he'll be anywhere near the Chelsea first team next season.

If a new left back doesn't come in he could stay as back up especially where he is home grown. Not actually a bad left back either has put in many good performances when given the chance at Chelsea.

I'm not saying he's a bad left back, but the fact that he's not really been given much a chance by Mourinho kind of shows that he doesn't rate Bertrand.

I think he has played very well for us when given a chance. Plus he would count as club grown wouldn't he? I don't think he would be first choice but maybe as back-up.

We want Tiago on a free transfer apparently as a player/coach. Love that guy. Probably means Mikel is leaving
