No one mentioned Lukaku/Mata debut's as far as I could tell. (Pundits)

AVB: ''Paul Lambert, he has a good imagination.''

I believe if there ever was such a thing as 'owning someone' then AVB just hit Lambert out of the park.

Reminds me of something Mou would say.

Made him look like a right **** lol i love it. AVB 1-0 Lambert. What do you expect Jamie, its Chelsea of corse they wont mention and praise our new lads.

I know I'm probably in a minority but I tell you what, I really like Di Santo.

Think he's a fantastic player destined for a top club (One day).

Enjoyed his goals, he's looked lively all season.

Pass completion over those 3 league games is 83% compared to 62% over his first 3 starts last season...

Massively improved.

PL 3 - Won 1 penalty, hit the woodwork twice, scored 2 goals.

Dribble success average over the 3 is around 73% which is not bad at all for a Wigan striker, I'm clearly biased to him but he's a fantastic young player.

Also re Davila: The last I heard (This is 2 weeks ago) he will be getting loaned to Vitesse but I'm not sure if he will go since he has been given a British Work Permit, I think it's possible but we need to wait and see.

2 deflected goals, grrrrr

Lambert said it WASN'T a penalty which is what I did not understand.

He could have maybe made a case to say it's not a goal scoring opp but for him to say he thought Ramires essentially dived was ridiculous.

He deserved every word of what he got...

Seen a few sources saying Romelu Lukaku is trying to convince Chelsea to look at his younger brother Jordon who is 17.

Highlights of Chelsea on MOTD were terrible. Made us look extremely lucky to get a result.

I don't know how you can argue that you weren't lucky. I've just watched the Setanta highlights online and the Chelsea defending was awful. If Norwich had taken some of their chances it could have been a different story. They created much more throughout the match, limiting you to long shots in the first half in particular. It really looks like you need a playmaker, but on a positive, Mata was very impressive when he came on.

We might have been lucky not to concede more than one, but we could have scored more too. My point is it showed hardly any of Chelsea's chances (which was more than Norwich's), it showed barely anything of Mata and Lukaku, and when they came on we were dominating the game completely we could have scored two or three more. The Chelsea defending wasn't great, but when you play a really high line like we did they're always going to get a lot of chances, they will be behind the defence maybe three or four times, but you have to take the risk. Chelsea need to get in-line with each other when playing offside, but it takes time to get used to a new system. Chelsea created more than Norwich, and we didn't have that many long shots and when we did we weren't limited into taking them. For example Bosingwa's goal he had options to pass, but he went for goal, same with Ramires. Obviously we need a playmaker, we've needed one for a year, which is why AVB is trying to get one. I don't know how you can argue we were lucky without watching the game, or at least 30-40 minutes of highlights.

We were playing a ridiculously high defensive line, and we kept using the offside trap, which didn't work. That's something that needs to change in the next game

How was a 3-1 win lucky??? Was the penalty we won lucky?? Over the 101 minues Chelsea deserved to win the game simple as that. You can say if Norwich took their chances but they didnt, they had them and didnt take them and we took ours.

Do you guys reckon we can keep up with the manchester clubs???

For me i still have faith in our team but the scores today totally demoralised me...

Corse we can, yes both Manchester clubs have looked fantastic today but the two sides they played are in a bad to quote Ancelotti "moment". Chelsea are winning while not playing well which is a very good trait to have at this stage of the season.

Chelsea are in a strange place.

Rebuilding the team from top to bottom and attempting to change philosophy/tactics in a short period of time. Young manager who's taking the club forward making new choices/tactics that will take a while to bed in.

I would be happy with 4th place this season, Chelsea are actually building for the future and getting whatever 'tools' (Players) are necessary to win trophies in 3-4 years time. All the old guard will be eased out over the next 2 years in place of a new team, there's no doubt about that, and Andre Villas Boas knows that he has all the financial backing to move forward and rebuild Chelsea.

If we lost to WBA, drew with Norwich I would be happy because I would know the things are in place for restructuring the team/tactics/club.

Difference with Arsenal is they used ^ those lines 5-6 years ago post Henry and Wenger didn't buy the likes of Ibrahimovic when he had the chance due to his policy of creating superstars not 'defining' superstars. Chelsea have gone out and paid what they needed to to get AVB/Chelsea football club the first choice players for the restructure. In 2-3 years time with Mata/Lukaku/Romeu + More I get the feeling Chelsea will actually accomplish their goal in oppose to Wenger buying unknowns and the fans having to learn about the players as they go and never really being sure on their abilities.

Chelsea are restructuring but with a different policy to Arsene Wenger's of 05 and also have a young coach who's essentially doing what Wenger did at Arsenal and what Cruyff did at Barce, he's building a legacy and a philosophy. Essentially, please no matter what the result this year don't keep your eye on the title too firmly because it's really not important.

Although I agree with you Jamie, I think we have an excellent chance of winning the title this year and I see no reason for AVB to lower his goals.... I have never been more excited about being a Chelsea Supporter because finally we are building a solid pool of Proven Young Talent and making sure we hang onto the old guard and phase them out slowly, although on paper the Manchester Clubs look stronger, I dont see why we cant go all the way considering the team has not yet gelled to AVBs philosophy and tactics. I will be happy with a top 3 finish this year but that is not to say I will be suprised if we win the title and/or CL.

And the one benefit I see at Chelsea is that we never have to worry about whether the club has any ambition or whether we are going to get players in, thankfully AVB has been open about the players he needs and I am confident a Midfielder will be signed in 3 days time because we have got enough options lined up. I am desperately hoping Roman allows AVB to stay long-term at the club and build a legacy here because he is young and a very talented manager who plays exciting football. Our squad is very good this season, good strength in depth and excellent experience.

A bit of a stat here, Chelsea only conceded 6 points from winning positions in the League Last season which is a credit to our experience. I am pleased that we have made the right moves this summer, getting required young players in and bedding them in slowly without putting too much pressure on them all the while not forgetting that we need proven talent to improve from last year, hence the signing of Mata.

And now our team will get stronger with the return of David Luiz, Cech and Sturridge for the game against Sunderland. I think David Luiz will be a key component in our defense and we have been playing a high line and someone like him is quick enough to chase down strikers who do break down the offside trap and he is the AVB type player so as to speak as he is good on the ball and lots of flair. Cech's return will be a boost and Sturridge deserves a chance to show his stuff on the right.

And before I forget, an excellent debut by Mata. I can see why Mike. was saying that he is the player who looks for the pass before the shot and he has excellent awareness and vision to pick them out. To be fair, he only attempted two shots and one of them resulted in a goal while the other would have tested the goalkeeper if it was not blocked. He combined well with Lampard on one occassion I remember. Seems to be adapting well with the team and I am licking my lips on seeing him and Torres combine

Lukaku was good too, I think he looked very nervous but credit to him because he got a good header in and generally looked lively

Incase some didn't know, Courtois started for Atletico in their opening La Liga fixture keeping a clean sheet.

Hopefully he'll secure that no.1 spot.
