2 bits of good news and 1 bit of bad news for this weekends game at Sunderland. Cech and Luiz are both available but Drogba misses out.

Hardly ****-worthy, especially considering the standard of opposition, but I agree that he is exactly what you need. The pass to Villa in the first half was a beaut, and the assist for Villa's goal was impressive. He will win points on his own, great talent.

Its **** worthy when you haven't had a player like that since Robben lol.

With Sunderland just around the corner, are you guys confident going into tomorrow's game?

Also, predictions on the starting 11 now that we have most of our players back from injury/suspension?

I'd like us to line up like this:

Cech
Bosingwa - Ivanovic - Terry - Cole
Mikel
Ramires - Lampard
Sturridge - Torres - Mata

That's what I'd like it to be, but I have a feeling Malouda, Anelka, and Luiz might start.

I wouldn't mind seeing Luiz in the starting line up, seems like his pace would be useful in this high line we seem to be playing. I suppose his positioning and urge to get forward could leave us a little exposed...

If we line up Anelka/Sturridge-Torres-Mata I think we'll win and Torres will score. The pace of Sturridge/Mata on the wings should be pretty fearsome and I can see us stretching Sunderland to let Torres/Lampard in. If Kalou or Malouda feature heavily or start then I'll be a little concerned as they seemed determined to cut inside at every opportunity and it gets rather wasteful at times. Torres needs space to work his magic but when those two play we seem very narrow and the channels become very congested.

Meireles, Cech start. Torres on bench.

Cech, Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole, Ramires, Meireles, Lampard, Mata, Anelka, Sturridge.

Love the midfield, but don't want Anelka starting, would prefer Lukaku, him and Sturridge could work well!

I don't see what Anelka has done to be played above Torres, would have much rather Lukaku given a chance. Hopefully because Anelka's playing as ST he won't constantly drop deep as he has been the past 6 months.

Disappointed there's no Mikel, but he was the last to return from international duty, so if that's the reasoning then I'm happy with that.

Hopefully Luiz will return today at some point, and I'd like to see Josh and Romelu get a chance, but with Torres, Malouda, Mikel, Kalou, Luiz on the bench (I'm guessing they're all on the bench anyway) I can't see it happening.

Hopefully benching Torres will make him more fired up to score, although I don't believe the main reason for his lack of goals is himself, but rather lack of service - can't remember the last time he was played in behind the defence to go 1-on-1 with the keeper.

Ah, now it makes sense - no Mikel because he needs resting - NOT on the bench, Romeu is though, would be nice to see him make his debut.

Oh yeah, and no Alex on the bench either.

Bench: Hilario, Luiz, Romeu, Torres, Malouda, McEachran, Kalou.

Anelka over Torres?

Massive ******.

And no Luiz?

If De Gea doesn't play that's 1/4 of my Fantasy Team not starting, unbelievable.

Think it will be a 0-3 win though, Mata/Meireles to score and possibly Sturridge.

Anelka or Malouda need to go in January IMO to give Lukaku at least a chance to get on the bench. Or even Kalou - as much as I stick up for him and rate him as a player (and he's younger than both Anelka and Malouda) but if he's stopping Lukaku getting minutes then he needs to go, UNLESS AVB is going to be rotating the bench a lot, but I don't see that happening, but hopefully he will be at least rotating the starting XI.

I can see a win here...3-0 Anelka, Sturridge and Mata or Lampard, or possibly a Torres goal if he comes on around 60 min.

Look at it this way, Torres hasn't been playing well. Anelka has got us an important winner and set up the goal for Lamps penalty the other week. Plus the fact that in the same fixture last season Anelka was fantastic, but that was when dropped in a deeper role.

We'll see what happens.

I just think it's a 'tough love' policy that VDB and AVB are employing to see if that shakes him up. Let's not forget, unless I'm mistaken, his 1 goal came from the bench vs WHU. Maybe this will kickstart him, maybe...
