When we see Sturridge consistently beat a pair of good fullbacks then I will concede that he's better as a centre forward. Until then, I still think he gets away with a lot more because he's running at fullbacks.

Hulk to sign for Chelsea is at 1/4 odds with Sky Sports betting. Is there something SkySports know that we don't?

It's more like what ITKs 'know'. Odds are just a reflection of how much money is being put on something by punters. ITKs generate rumours, people put money on it because of that, odds fall.

they was saying this on chelsea tv against millian, does anyone else think we need a backup keeper? honestly if cech picks up a long term injury for lets say 3 months, i wouldn't be happy to trust hilliaro/turnball. Dont feel blackman is good enough iswell and courtious could pontentially stay at athletico madrid for maybe another 2 seasons.

I heard days ago a verbal agreement was in place, ready to be sorted out after the olympics.

I had this discussion a few times already and a good back-up keeper are harder to get these days because if they are that good they are first choice somewhere else.

What CJACKO said. No doubt there are better reserve keepers out there than Hilario/Turnbull but to find good GKs willing to sit on the bench is very hard. Anyways the likelihood of GKs getting long-term injuries is pretty low; not worth splashing money over to rectify it especially now that FFP is looming

Ramires in the Brazil Squad. Really dont see how the Brazilian coach could justify leaving out one of the best players in Europe.

Also reports in France stating we have had a bid of 6m pounds rejected for Azpilicueta. Marseille are open to selling him though but are holding out for a fee in the region of 10m pounds

Also some fairly unreliable sources reporting that we have made a final bid of 7.5m pounds for Victor Moses. Really dont know what Dave Whelan is playing at if he rejects a pretty sizeable fee for a 21 y/old in the last year of his contract. Chelsea are massively overpaying but I suppose they really want him now rather than a year later

Not sure where you heard the Hulk rumours Carl. Porto are playing hardball and refusing to let him go for anything below 35m pounds. Hulk, even though he would love the transfer to happen, is also not trying to force it through. He is also under a long-term contract at Porto. They are holding all the cards and I hope Chelsea are not foolish to try and cut a deal at that price

With our recent acquisitions, Kakuta has a very slim chance of making an impact with the first-team this season. He is being linked with a loan move to Marseille and his quotes regarding the situation suggests he is open to the move if it materializes

Also this obviously may help in us getting Azpilicueta at a better price

1. So glad for him personally that he is back in the squad. It will interesting to see where he plays him.

2. 10mill i think is still a decent price, he is my first choice.

3. From what i know/have heard Moses will be the plan B if the Hulk deal does not go through.

4. I have heard from quite a few places that a price of 30mill upfront and 5mill add-ons has basically been agreed. Just need to iron a few things out and wait for Brazil to exit or win the Olympics and a deal could be done.

Well a Hulk transfer would be a luxury not a necessity. Will obviously be very happy that we got a player of his quality but spending so much money on again... a luxury not a necessity does not make much sense to me mate. If we were intent on getting another attacking player then I'd rather we go spend 10m on Moses and see how that works out

I think it makes sense if you look at it from a different angle. There is a good chance Malouda may still leave so we may need another winger. Lukaku looks set to go on loan too which will leave us with just Sturridge for back-up. Signing Hulk will cover us for both of them positions.

Would prefer someone much cheaper though. But hopefully the people upstairs know what they are doing in regards to FFP. A team of Hazard, Mata, Hulk, Torres and Oscar with Marin/Sturridge/Ramires as cover will be amazing to watch. That attacking unit can just about rip apart any defense in the world in my opinion

Also I agree with you that Lukaku may go out on loan. Does not make sense keeping him No. 3 in the pecking order behind Torres and Sturridge. A season or two of regular football in the EPL would help develop his touch and refine him a bit. Also De Bruyne may go on loan to Werder Bremen as a replacement for Marin. Bundesliga is a top league so I will be happy if that happens

A loan to the Championship was also mooted for young Nats Chalobah. I'd say that is an excellent idea. He plays regularly for the reserves and a season of good, competitive football might do him a world of good. Watford anyone? ;)

Also Thorgan Hazard is being considered for a loan. He played in a U-21 intra-squad friendly yesterday behind closed doors at Cobham and it looks like he will be monitered closely to determine his next step

Hopefully we take more care in selecting a suitable destination for Josh McEachran this time. He basically wasted a whole year of development and I hope that does not happen again as I still believe he is our most talented player ahead of the likes of Piazon, Feruz, Chalobah and Ake.

Also looking forward to see Betrand get more game time next season. Ashley Cole has not had a proper deputy at LB for a while and has played a immense number of games for a few seasons now which partly contributed to his decline.

The amount of new sponsorship deals and CL winnings and CL money for this season is all we are spending this season. Also spreading the cost of transfers over the players contract would help that too.

The Bundesliga is a great league at the moment and as you say De Bruyne would alomost be a shoe in week in week out.

I totally agree about Nats, he is at Championship level already which is scary. Not too sure about Watford as they have signed lots of players already and have money.

I love Piazon, Feruz and Ake a lot, we definitely have one of the best academies around at the moment without a doubt.

I think there is a good chance Ash may leave us at the end of the season. His contract runs out at the end of this season and Bertrand is pushing him so hard. I would love to see Bertrand get at least 10-20 starts next season in all comps to see just how ready he is.

Definitely need to get a few of the youngsters out on loan deals because it is clear many of them are out of their depth. Lukaku is still so, so raw and definitely needs first team football - he has to go out on loan.

Gael is far too lightweight in my opinion and a permanent deal would probably be best for him, just doesn't cut it at this level.

I was also dissapointed with how Josh McEachran was handled last term, maybe should have settled for a top Championship team to build his confidence, though I must admit I thought he may get some game time at Swansea with the way they play. He is such a good talent and as an Englishman we need to make sure we nurture him as well as possible.

Chalobah needs game time because he is frighteningly good, while I hope the de Bruyne to Bremen moves comes off, will be great for him and he will come back a top player.

Finally I think we definitely need a new striker/winger, although I'm also looking forward to Danny Sturridge getting the chance to prove himself as a striker, I hated seeing him on the right wing last year, clearly wasted potential. Still has a lot to learn, mind.

De Bruyne joining Bremen on loan. Apparently had a medical as soon as he returned from America. Good decision by the club. De Bruyne needs to be exposed regularly to high-quality football if he is to succeed and a similar type of loan to a good club in a top league worked for Courtois

Hopefully the same is now done for Lukaku although I'd prefer if he remained in the EPL. Fulham perhaps? They apparently have shown an interest

Also apparently the reason according to the Guardian that the Hulk deal has not been tied up is because of third-party ownership complications. Just rumours though...

I watched the Brazil vs Belarus match yesterday and I have to say Oscar was world-class. Anyone who says he does not have a passing range go watch that match. Played some absolutely beautiful diagonals. Ran the show from the midfield and basically raped the defense a couple of times with his monster turns

Has a great free-kick on him too. He is probably been the player of the tournament so far

What does everyone think will happen with Lucas Piazon?

He is looking very impressive for someone who basically spent all of last season playing reserve team football.

Will no dount stay with us this season because he will play in the nextgen tournament. Has such potential, only played half a season with us and won our young player of the season! I think maybe a loan deal from January onwards or a loan deal next season.
