Seems you could be right about the Hulk rumours Carl...

Gourlay on the Chelsea website:

The situation is that we are still looking to potentially strengthen the side. The manager feels there are maybe one or two areas where we may need to strengthen but that will only happen if we find the right personnel to bring in.

We are already very strong and have a big squad, but if we feel there are players out there who can strengthen the side in the right position, we will continue to do so but it has to be the right player at the right cost, because both these things are very important. However, if we have to go with the pool we have now then we are in a very strong position going into the season.

Does not really take a genius to work out which areas in the squad need strengthening. A back-up RB is a must and another attacking player will be welcome as well. With our resources and Di Matteo's willingness to strengthen, its probable that we will be welcoming two new players to Cobham soon

And then a few hours after this, Hulk in an interview with 442:

How does it feel to be linked with Champions League-winners Chelsea?

I am very happy. They are the European champions and the best club in Europe at the moment. For me, it is a huge achievement that they want me to play for them.

What do you want accomplish this season?

I want to continue to win trophies. That is what I want to do if I join Chelsea

So he basically admits that their is concrete interest shown from Chelsea. His move still seems to be in the works and not 'dead' as earlier feared

Just a few things i heard mate, it would make sense especially if Lukaku goes on loan.

Talking of wingers/strikers once again Danny Sturridge proves me right when i say HE IS A STRIKER!!!!

Daniel Sturridge scores the simplest of goals vs Uruguay... Making a claim for the Centre-Forward role

It's definitely an interesting discussion but to stop us from clogging the thread with our ramblings XD, want to carry it on via Steam?

lol, I would've said yes, but think it's best to end it here for now, seeming I'm replying 4 days later! Maybe it's a discussion for another time!

I watched the Brazil vs Belarus match yesterday and I have to say Oscar was world-class. Anyone who says he does not have a passing range go watch that match. Played some absolutely beautiful diagonals. Ran the show from the midfield and basically raped the defense a couple of times with his monster turns

Has a great free-kick on him too. He is probably been the player of the tournament so far

Agreed.

Neymar probably edging him out seeming Oscar hardly played yesterday.

Aye... Sturridge/Betrand have looked quality as well

Anyone has any ideas when is the Brighton Friendly. Looking forward to the game. Also has Juan Mata and Oriol Romeu joined up with the squad yet?

Brighton friendly is tomorrow, kickoff 2:30. As i understand Mata and Romeu not yet joined up with the squad.

There is a suggestion that Brighton will give Chelsea a guard of honour tomorrow for their Champions League win last season. It was thought that manager Gus Poyet suggested the idea.

World Class, based on the Olympics? **** of a stretch.

One of the reasons why Brazil conceded so many goals is Oscar. His defensive work rate is really poor. But guy has bags of flair and creativity.

Meant he put in a great performance... has been throughout the Olympics even against Team GB which is filled with some decent EPL players. Not saying he is a world-class player

Are you kidding me?

Mata tweeted he will be joining next tuesday along with Romeu I assume. No chance of seeing him in the Community Shield then although one benefit of going to the Olympics is that he has remained match-fit

David Luiz is ******* retarded.. has retweeted 218 times in the space of 1-2 hours. You know those type of tweets people sent to celebrities begging for a RT because it will 'make their day' or whatever.

Apparently retweetper minute count was 5 during this barrage. :O
