Hearing so much about "Why isn't Mata starting, Jose hates him etc etc etc". But i thought we haven't played well with or without Mata this season and decided to see if my opinion were backed up. I didn't want to do this because i do love Mata as a player but am getting annoyed that some fans seem to think he is the be all end all, i'm pretty sure Chelsea functioned well enough before Mata and will do so if he leaves too. So here is as that old Spanish ****** would say "Facts" regarding Mata.

Mata started in our 2-1 win over Villa, game was 1-1 when he was bought off. Very poor display from the team.

He also started in our 1-0 defeat away to Everton, came off in the 56th minute, another poor team display.

He came on in our 2-1 home defeat to Basel, we were 1-0 up when he came on.

He started in our 2-0 win at Swindon, should have won with our youth side out, he did play well in all fairness.

He came on at half time in our 1-1 draw at Spurs, arguably our best player grabbing an assist.

Then played 80 minutes in our 4-0 win against Bucharest.

Came off after 80 minutes in our 3-1 win at Norwich, the game was 1-1 when he was bought off.

Came off after 58 minutes in our 4-1 win against Cardiff, the game was 1-1 when he was bought off.

Played 90 minutes against Arsenal in the cup, scored and was brilliant.

Came off after 60 minutes in our 2-0 defeat at Newcastle, team was shockingly poor.

Came on after 72 minutes in our 2-2 draw to West Brom, game was 2-1 to them when he came on.

When did mata become the defender oO)

My main point is that we have been poor with or without Mata, we have won points when he has been subbed off too. It seems to many that he is the be all end all but that isn't the case this season, no-one is.

At the end of the day if rather Mourinho at the club then any player in the world and if mata is not in his plans so be it. I adore mata easily been our best player since the day he signed for the club but we can cope without him if he ends up making a move and not to mention Oscar has been blossoming under Jose. Seeing some Chelsea fans on twitter calling for Jose to be sacked are complete ***** got too used to seeing a manager coming in every year and don't appreciate what an incredible manager and club legend Jose is.

You know, 99.99% iof time n this situation I'd say the same thing - its manager's job to make the call, end of.

But the thing is, personally I have trouble remembering when was the last time, if ever, that I saw player this high profile and this consistent at performing brilliantly, being blatantly pushed out of the club.

Yes, big names fail at new clubs all the time, but to just **** around your (previously)best player, without disciplinary problems or prolonged bad form - is almost unheard of. Plus, it was Jose who decided to build Madrid around Ozil, despite the fact he is even less useful defensively then Mata.

Seriously I just cant wrap my head around this.

I think it is just where Jose is a big fan of Oscar and would prefer to build the team around him. He tried to sign Oscar when he was Real Madrid manager so to see him favour Oscar at Chelsea isn't much of a surprise tbh.

Few rumours floating about that didier drogba May possibly be a coach at Chelsea next season. If true it would be great to see him working with the club again :)

It's one thing picking players on your preferences as a manager; but what Mourinho's doing at the moment is very, very harsh on Mata. Although, as aforementioned by CJACKO11, he's not always been the best player on the pitch, he's been consistently good when others haven't, so he at least deserves a fair chance at breaking into the team, especially considering his brilliant performances in previous seasons, and his reputation. Yes, it's all good showing your players that no-one's bigger than the club, no matter how big a reputation they have, but it seems that Mata doesn't think he's bigger than the club, and that he puts in good shifts almost every time he plays. I have a feeling this may demoralise a few players, since it shows that Mou's not willing to give players who play well a chance, out of personal preference.

Apparently we are looking at signing Coentaro on loan in January with a view to a permanent deal if he adapts to English football. Shares the same agent as Mourinho too. Would be a great signing imo ... Him and Azpi would give us much needed attacking thrust down the flanks and he is only 25

Desperately need a central midfielder or two though ... Van Ginkel's injury has really hurt us

We don't have a spot on our CL roster for non HG player ATM. Even for next year, only our English players may be leaving, Cole and Lamps, maybe Essien? but he isn't registered anyway. We desperately need a CM/CDM, I'd want to integrate Chalobah, his loan finishes in January. He can become a Vidal-esque B2B beast.

Agree about wanting to see Chalobah getting chances in the first team I really really want to see this lad make it at Chelsea more so than any other youngster with good potential before. I have had hopes and been disappointed with the likes of McEachran, kakuta, mancienne, Hutchinson etc showing potential but never really making it for various reasons but I will be absoloutely devastated if we end up ruining Nathan's chance at making it at the club and turning into a world class talent.

And we aren't even using our World Class player, forget WC talent. McEachran has been truly disappointing, I have a soft spot for the guy but whenever I ask a Watford ticket holder/supporter who watches most games, they truly don't like him. His usual dribbling himself into trouble or sideways/backward passes.

We keep buying AMs, I think (hope not) on our list is Ross Barkley. I'm truly disappointed that KdB isn't given a chance in Lampard role, his passing range is excellent, can spray out passes all over the field, can work on his defensive side, he's solid physically.

Agree about KDB why not give him a chance playing a deeper role in our midfield if he can't get a sniff in the attacking positions? I believe Mike the moderator said on here (well I think it was him) that KDB has the ability to become a fantastic deep lying play maker at the club. I don't really know what kind of talent KDB possesses tbh I only saw him twice in his Genk days both against Chelsea and about 3 of his appearances for Werder Bremen last season but a lot of people who did watch him regular have said he was fantastic last season and was better than schurrle.

Yes, he owned BL at Werder. He's Gerrard-esque playmaker, long balls for strikers/players to run onto. I could probably find you a youtube video of his game for Belgium, he was literally everywhere. He tries a lot of long range passes and also long range shots (Like Lampard). His long shots are very solid, got decent finishing (needed to play Lampard role, eh? xD). His dribbling isn't all that good compared to our other wingers, he's solid at crossing though. He's still originally a no.10 more than a Winger.

I would love for him to be paired with Essien in a LC match in Pivot (or 3 man MF if we play 4-3-3). Essien is senior and responsible, can motivate him to play natural without worrying in new position. But Mourinho seems **** bent on keeping the kid away from starting line-up.

De Bruyne does deserve a chance in the starting lineup, yes, but where would he fit? League Cup, as you suggested, would be a good chance for him to impress, but he'd hardly get that many games. Also, I think Mikel would be a better alternative to Essien in the role you suggested.

Mikel as anchor in 3 Man MF in 4-3-3. In pivot in 4-2-3-1, KdB won't get much freedom, which he initially should getting adjusted to the role. Mikel as Anchor and Pairing him up with Essien as CM. I was secretly hoping that he was being tried deeper when he was being made to train with the U21s :P.

So it has been revealed lukaku requested a permenant transfer before being loaned out to Everton. So much for him being a massive Chelsea fan from the age of 9 not even believing he can challenge with our other strikers and earn a place in the side. Understand it could also be as he might of felt no matter how hard he tried Jose would still always pick Eto'o and Torres ahead of him this season but it just shows to me he can't care that much about trying to make it big at Chelsea. If in the summer he wants out again I just say let him go no matter how talented he is no point keeping a striker who would rather be a big fish in a small pond than make it at Chelsea.

De Bruyne in a deeper role is something i actually suggested before the season started, shame we haven't seen it as of yet. I think Jose likes Chalobah but isn't quite ready yet.
