Kick him, rape him, spit on him. The ******* trash. Well played Samuel.
That's a bit over the top...

Would like to point out how effectively we cut off Suarez's supply too. Without him finding space, pulling defenders about and getting the ball reliably, he looked impotent. The few times he did threaten, he was doubled up on and cut out easily. We got fairly lucky with some of the decisions but, unlike City last week, we didn't need to rely on poor finishing and good fortune to stop a world class player from tearing us apart.
That's a bit harsh on City, to be honest, Kompany dealt with Su?rez well considering he had Lescott (who, let's be honest, is far from great) alongside him.

Inter's sporting director was at the Bridge yesterday so I imagine a deal for Guarin is pretty close which is great news

Or they could possibly be discussing Wallace? Wouldnt mind Guarin, although i dont really think he is needed.

Just let him leave now, poor guy.

He should have gone in the summer. We did say he wasn't going to fit the system. Keeping him for another year, and and breaking down memory of Mata being Chelsea's star player of two years is standard Jose powerplay. Imagine the backlash if he had gone last summer? Instead he slowly marginalises him. Mata has been uber professional as ever, but even he has his limits...

Definitely.

And even when he is used, he is not used properly.

I hope he goes and be a star for another club and I'm sure he will be.

And btw, that was disgraceful from Oscar. Not sure why he's trying to be a Young, it's not the first time I see him do that.

Yup. This whole "he needs to work harder" thing is balls. Look, he might track back a bit, and run a bit harder, but Mata's play is who he is, never going to fundamentally change him. Never going to fit Jose's direct system. Could have sold him in the summer, raised massive funds and bought that midfielder you really needed, and that star forward. Ego play from JM.

Maybe we tried to do just that with that rumored swap deal for Rooney ... Either way no star forward available in the market at the moment so we will have to wait and see

Really happy with Chelsea's performance today in a tough away game! As usual Jose's subs worked magnificently and Oscar and Willian who came on effectively won us the game although I am disappointed with Oscar because of his dive. Why stop yourself putting the team a goal up just to insure the opposition are down to ten men? Fair play to the referee for spotting the dive too on a different day the wrong decision could of been made and the goalkeeper unfairly sent off.

on Juan Mata I actually want him to leave for a team abroad and do magnificent just like he has done in his first two seasons at Chelsea. Juan has been my favourite player since he made his Chelsea debut but we just don't rely on him like we used to and he doesn't fit into Jose's system.

That's odd. I heard the same kind of thing about Danny Sturridge, and in particular about his selfishness. And now? He's an unselfish, hard-working forward who combines superbly with Suarez.

This, on the other hand, is a far comment.

Oscar, Willian and Hazard are probably our best combination behind the striker at the moment

Yes he could have gone in the summer but he and Jose thought they could get him doing the things he needs to do to get in the side. The amount of dissing Jose is getting for this is a joke to be honest.

To Jose's credit he didn't shy away from it after the game.

I absolutely love Mata as a man and as a footballer and he does work harder. Not sure if you saw the whole game today but he was at right back defending at one point he made a challenge in the right back area to which i went "good challenge Azpi" only to find out it was Mata! So he can and is doing the leg work but that is effecting his influence in the final 3rd of the pitch. As Jose said both Willian and Oscar not only do the defensive side of things but in 1v1 situations they will take on the defender and beat them more often than not. And did the subs not win us the game? Oscar involved in all 3 goals and Willian in one of them. Fact is right now we are playing far far better without Mata in the side, he shouldn't have left last summer and he definitely should not leave this month either.

Excellent 3 points from us today, probably should have been in front at half time but we kept picking the wrong option in the final 3rd. Once again Jose's early decision making in the 2 subs won us the 3 points, anyone questioning this man needs to give their head a shake!

Now i love Juan Mata and although i understand why he has not been playing in this side this season i think he has been handling himself brilliantly until today! Was he poor today? No he wasn't that poor, he tracked back a lot which was impressive but as much as he wasn't poor he was not influencing the game enough in the final 3rd. The subs were made for the TEAM and after Oscar and Willian playing roles in all 3 goals i hope Mata feel embarrassed by his actions now. Its easy to see our best attacking 3 is Oscar, Willian and Hazard especially the latter who is finally being consistent with his form, another sensational performance from the Belgian today.

Torres worked hard all game and scored a strikers goal which was very encouraging, Mikel and Ramires improved in the 2nd half when they had Willian and Oscar coming deeper to help them, the back 5 absolutely solid once again.

All in all a very impressive performance and we may be starting to see Jose's Chelsea.

UTC!

Because he can't. You can't be asked to put in that much defensively and still be as influential as he normally is in the final 3rd. He's being played out of position and in a role that doesn't suit him. His reaction is understandable because he's never going to be able to play how Jose wants him to and be good enough at it, something I think everyone could see at the start of the season.

We had hoped however, that he would be used in rotation with Oscar and used to break down tough defences. Instead, he's just being told to put up with it and play that way or get out. If Jose knew in the summer that he wanted us to play this sort of game again, Mata should have simply be sold, not given false hope.

It's depressing as a fan, because if we're doing that to him it's obvious that we're not just going to play tight, efficient football in the toughest matches, but basically all the time. It worked the first time when we were fast and physical and powerful but we're not any more.

Come on GC, you know that this is bollocks. With Sturridge it was a problem with attitude, with Mata the problem is that he can't exploit his biggest strength (finding space) if he's having to track back all the time. He can't just will himself 20 meters up the pitch again everytime we get the ball back.

tl;dr: use him properly or sell him. The guy doesn't deserve it.

Mata will and still can be key in games where we will dominate possession but these days most of the sides in the premier league are better at keeping the ball than us hence why we play on the counter.

Well put.

Well, no, Carl. Just because his name is Jose Mourinho, it doesn't mean he can't be wrong. He is wrong about a lot of things, but he's good at masking those mistakes (most of the time).
