zzeezzy, why you heff to be mad?

I'm not mad, but bringing in a 33 year old now is just pointless, going to stunt the progression of at least one of them players. We all know most likely Fabregas and Matic are going to be starters.

You think I really care about Chelsea's youth? Really? Although I do think it's a very odd move.

Criticising it when you consider Romeu and Van Ginkel and others are all there already, they deserve a good look in.

I honestly don't buy this whole experience thing, there is plenty of experience already within that squad.

You think JM is some E.T god though so it's pointless arguing.

Ugh, leave it out with the ******* speculation, for christ's sakes. I think Jose Mourinho is the best manager in the world. It doesn't mean I think he's immune to criticism. Check back in this thread towards the end of the last season: I criticised him then for not showing his usual tactical flexibility, for example.

Tiago isn't going to take game time off Romeu or Van Ginkel. The pivot will likely be Matic and one other; either Fabregas if Oscar is played, or if Fabregas is the 10, one of Van Ginkel or Ramires. For two spots in a squad challenging on all four fronts, Fabregas/Matic/Ramires/Van Ginkel/Romeu/Tiago is entirely fair, especially when you consider Fabregas and Ramires will most definitely not always play in the pivot. Tiago's going to be there as a veteran presence, which you can't have too much of, and a particularly useful squad player in mid-level games, behind Romeu. There's literally no downside for either party here.

If you want him as coach, make him a coach. Don't interrupt with other peoples progress by bringing in him as a player now, all I'm saying, calm down folks.

Van Ginkel needs a season playing so a loan would be brilliant for him, he has a major set back last season and needs to be played back to match fitness. Romeu just signed a new long term deal so whatever happens with him happens, he may stay play second fiddle to Matic or he may go out on loan again for a season. Remember when Utd didn't want to sign a centre mid which would have stopped the progress of your young lad.........Cleverley........

I do, unless something exceptional comes up. This is how Jose likes to work: get all the important deals done and dusted and then wait and see if something comes up that's so good it's impossible to pass it up.

I'll be honest if that is it for us this summer i'm very happy with what we have.

Add Mikel into that mix....

And McEachran supposedly

Ok so we'll say it works out how you said... why not of just kept Lampard for his presence? If anything it's greater than Tiago's and other players would pick up more off a Chelsea legend like him.

Mikel is most likely going to be sold for starters and as i stated earlier Lampard struggles playing in the 2 in a 4-2-3-1 where as Tiago is more suited to that role! Also add the difference in wages the two would have been earning its a no brainer!

And I forgot to edit in McEachran.. poor old McEachran. That's 2 more to the list as we speak. Sure there's someone else I'm missing lol.

The Josh McEachran who's career got sidetracked because of his celeb girlfriend? I know someone who knows him well and says he believes he got too caught up being in love etc. He didn't want it enough simple as that, its a shame because he had so much potential.

Josh has no chance of making it at Chelsea now nowhere near good enough though admittedly through no fault of his own but because of the way the club treated him. If Ancelotti was still in charge he would have made it.

And Chalobah? Lol. You literally have tons of midfielders, no need for Tiago, honestly Jose, take it from me sir. I think it looks a bit dead in the water now anyway doesn't it?

Mikel's off, almost certainly, and McEachran has not made the most of his undoubted potential. When you're struggling on at Wigan you can't expect minutes in a pivotal season for Chelsea.

Because Lampard is older, much less mobile, can't play in a pivot at all and is far worse defensively. Tiago can still play at the top level, Lampard can't.

Ah, is that why? Pity.

Wow, you are really determined to prove, uh, something, aren't you?

Nats Chalobah is very talented, but he's 19 and inexperienced. Not to mention I believe Chelsea coaches think his career should end up at centre-back, so they want him to get game time there. In other words, they don't want another Phil Jones.

Chalobah, amazing loan deal at Watford had another chance in the Championship last season and went backwards. Still time for him mind but this season is crucial for him. Nowhere near good enough to be around Chelsea's 1st team at the moment.

Its a massive shame mate because when he burst onto the scenes i couldn't believe what i was seeing, Chelsea made this type of player! He split from the girl now and latest i heard is that he is asking Chelsea to pay for his Spanish lessons as he wants to go on loan to a side in the Spanish second division. I hope he does and i'll respect him if he does that, not enough British players do.

The ****'s going on here again. Signing vet player to keep pressure on first squad is the oldest move in the book. If textbook on managing football squad existed, this would literally be on the first page.

Its a good transfer, can we move on now?

After watching our first pre-season game the other night they spoke to Steve Holland pre-game and they asked him about Chalobah at CB as he started there. Holland said "its a forced move because lack of players at the moment, Jose see's him as a CM and will try him there this pre-season".

And and and the new Croatian mid they just bought Pasalic? Got like 10 CM's :P

Well... at least I can say Jones has been getting game time... somewhat sporadically and out of position but still.

Jose has actually said in an interview with bt sport there are 3 or 4 youth players he wants to develop into players good enough for our first team. I know there is a difference in saying this and actually doing it especially with Chelsea's track record with youth but now we can actually say we have a whole youth squad with the potential to play for a side as big as Chelsea. It's only been the last couple of seasons we have had youth of this quality I mean during Jose's first spell for example what youth players can you say had good enough potential and actually made any first team appearances? Lenny pidgeley and Anthony grant are the only ones who come to mind and look how their careers have ended up. We are seeing a lot more young players making first team appearances at the club nowadays or atleast making the bench who look like very exciting players.

Weve had had a few players in the last few years who you can say maybe had the potential to make it at us such as mceachran, kakuta, van aanholt and Sam Hutchinson who's career has unfortunately been hampered by serious injury but the youth we have now look even more exciting than those players.

But they have about 10 CM's already hahahaha, it's just a bit silly to me. But then again, Jose can't take chances this season I suppose so in that sense... yes... for the players like Van Ginkel, Chalobah and all the rest, terrible.

And if any of these players don't make the grade or get chances with us we will sell them for an immense profit finding another way around FFP ;)

You do realise that your club brought Scholes out of retirement and played Park Ji Sung and Rafael in midfield instead of giving Pogba a good look in right?

Both will probably end up on loan playing first team football somewhere, not so terrible.
