But a slight increase in creativity is much less important than the massive upgrade on finishing Diego Costa brings. Besides, Chelsea now has Cesc ******* Fabregas, who's better than Mata.

We didn't need to sell Mata to get Costa under FFP. I think the more relevant point is that Mata didn't suit Jose's big game strategy and Mata wasn't happy to be in a marginalized role in a WC year.

So we got both United and Shrewsbury inside 48 hours thanks to Sky. Guess the likes of Ake, Baker, Christensen and Zouma will be playing major minutes against United

Next fixture Aston Villa H on 27/09/14 @15:00.

Our last result at the Bridge vs Villa 21/08/2013: Chelsea (Luna og, Ivanovic) 2-1 (Benteke) Aston Villa.

Our biggest win at the Bridge vs Villa 23/12/2012: Chelsea (Torres, Luiz Ivanovic, Lampard, Ramires x2, Oscar, Hazard) 8-0 Aston Villa.

Our biggest ever defeat at the Bridge vs Villa 19/09/1931: Chelsea (Alexander Jackson x2, Harold Miller) 3-6 (Eric Houghton x2, Pongo Waring x4) Aston Villa.

Our last fixture vs Villa on this same date at the Bridge 27/09/2003: Chelsea (Hasselbaink) 1-0 Aston Villa.

Our record at the Bridge vs Villa (all comps): Played-74, Won-38, Drawn-14, Lost-22, For-127, Against-89.

My stat of the game: We have only lost once in the last 13 meetings with Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge (winning 8 and drawing 4).

In that time we have scored a total of 38 goals averaging 2.9 goals per game.

I think Villa may give us a good game today but you just never know with them one game we are smashing them by 7 or 8 goals then the next they grind out a hard earned 1-0 victory.

Good solid win. I really want to see more of Filipe Luis. Azpilicueta is an excellent defender but he simply doesnt provide an attacking threat from LB. Fabregas had another wonderful game today. Spraying passes all over the pitch

I'd like to see Filipe Luis too...Azpilicueta should be moved on the right wing, and then Filipe Luis would play on the left

Ivanovic has been in a pretty decent run of form so hard to drop him. Although the amount he moves forward worries the **** out of me ... Better teams will exploit him easily

I was thinking about him rotating with Cahill, as a central defender

The most Premier League goals Torres scored in 1 season for Chelsea was 8 (36 appearances). Diego Costa has that already in just 6 #CFC

Great atmosphere at the bridge today! Our home support is really starting to improve with a lot of fans starting to put more of an effort in getting everyone singing after being sick of the bridge always being dead.

so whats the deal with costa is it just a temp thing with his hamstring or is it something more long term?

I don't think Chelsea would risk the lad if he had the potential to put him out for a long time. I'm hoping Spain don't call him up for the next break so he can have 2 weeks off.

Which is highly unlikely. They don't really have anyone of Costa's calibre to replace him with. Hopefully, he will be left out. It depends on who Spain faces, and to be honest I haven't checked yet.

Edit: Slovakia. They could afford leaving him home, but they probably won't.
