Apart from tons of pyro, ripping up seats, attacking police/stewards and trying to get into the Chelsea end the sporting fans were pretty well behaved tonight.

Didn't get to see the game today as i was at work but just caught up with the highlights which i find it hard to come up with views just by watching 5 minutes of the games best bits.

Away from the game in general on two main topics i heard there was some booing of Mikel when his name was read out, this is absolutely disgraceful in my eyes. Whether it was Mikel or anyone else in my book of being a supporter booing your own player is embarrassing and surely contradicts the word "supporter". Onto my second gripe its obviously Frank Lampard! From what we know he was offered a 1 year deal with us in the summer, on a reduced wage and only being considered a bit part player. Both parties agreed in the end it was best he went (lets not forget his replacement was Fabregas) and Frank obviously felt he could still do it at the top level which he is proving. His time at City will not effect Chelsea at all, if Chelsea fail to win the Premier League it will be because of us not Frank Lampard. He is and will always be a Chelea legend that for me is not even up for debate, whether he stays at City for 2 extra months or 2 extra years it doesn't matter to me. Its getting tedious seeing all the comments every time he scores for them. We are staring to behave like Arsenal fans booing our own players and slating a former player because he is doing elsewhere.

As i said couldn't make much of the game itself but i always said this was a good chance for "flat track bully" Costa to get himself back on the score sheet so glad he did. On the dives yes its frustrating and we'd rather not see it but it will make Chelsea more hated and i think Jose prefers that, he loves the us vs the world mentality. Cahill lucky to stay on in my eyes, again showing his average form or late going into that tackle and diving himself!

I think it was clear to see who the main man was today though, the recently tanned up Eden Hazard! Jose gave the lad a little holiday and today he was what we all want/feel he should be on a more consistent basis in a match winner. The goal just showed just desire and his excellent movement and his assist was just something special. Getting a little rest like this just before a busy Xmas period really could prove to be a complete masterstroke by Jose and the club.

UTC!!!

After years and years of luck, we now get to face our demons early on. Not what I wanted, but we can take them on.

I'm pretty confident we can beat PSG for the second year running. Won't be easy but we are a better side this season and overall have the better squad IMO.

We know Luiz is a provocative type of defender, i'm just afraid he will get under Costa's skin, assuming they both play in 2 months time. But yeah, fairly confident too about the games. Not easy at all, but we have the upper hand in this one.

Willian's offensive game is just horrible despite all the defensive work-rate he brings. I really hope we seek an upgrade on him in January which probably won't happen cos he is going to get a fat new contract

Heard a lot of rumours that we are looking to buy Pogba/Strootman and one other CM I forgot.

Personally, I think it's rubbish, but if it turn out to be true, then we are either moving Fabregas up a row into the #10 position and Oscar out wide, or we go for the 4-3-3 with Oscar wide again. Again, I think it is just false rumour, but I am not Jose, nor do I read minds. Also, we have Ramires, and Mikel, so why on earth would we buy another CM?

Take out Mikel and add another quality CM like Pogba and we have a super midfield. Right now if Fabregas gets injured, we are slightly ****** as we saw against Hull. A Matic-Mikel pivot just doesn't work

Does Jose know that chelsea have an academy? Mickey mouse cup against derby and not one academy lad in sight.

Seeing as it's the quater final and not the 3rd round, derby are a top championship side, Jose takes every single trophy as serous as he can and he has given debuts to four academy products this year I think he can be forgiven for not having any in tonight's squad.

And what good is playing 90 minutes against Derby before being benched for the next 2 months going to do? Not to mention that our next PL game is on Monday giving us a good break and allowing the first-teamers to play

I know chelsea fans aren't use to it since most here are probably only from the roman/jose era, but it's great watching homegrown academy lads make it into the first team and feature in any game.

It might be great but I don't see how watching them lose to a top championship side will actually bring them closer to the first-team

We have recently watched Baker, Ake, John Swift, Andreas Christensen, Solanke and Loftus-Cheek make first team appearances. Hardly starving the youth team of first team chances in the cups/unimportant fixtures.
