Australia go 3-0 up in First Ashes Test

View attachment 239829

80,000 excited fans got to see a brilliant comeback on the 3rd day of the 1st Ashes test. The match got underway, and in only the 18th minute Iniesta unleashed a decent shot at Australian keeper Manuel Neuer. While Neuer parried the ball away, it rolled straight to the opportunistic Luis Suarez, who calmly finished to put the poms a goal up.

Just a minute later, Cristiano Ronaldo played a long ball forward for Suarez, with Thiago Silva dragging himself completely out of position to intercept. Not only did Silva completely miss the intercept, Phillip Lahm was able to make an incisive run through our open defence because of it. Lahm received the ball, took a quick touch to take him past Neuer and put the ball in the back of the net. Thiago Silva was then swiftly subbed off the field, with Mats Hummels taking his place. I hope Silva enjoyed those 20 minutes, he's never playing for my Australia again. Although the game calmed down after this point, I felt that my side were getting the upper hand and playing well during the rest of the 1st half.

At half time, England replaced Iniesta with James Rodriguez. By the time the 52nd minute came around, I decided I needed to make a tactical change to give Australia a chance. Yaya Toure, who had played his role to that point, had to make way for imposing striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

In the 67th minute, Messi played a wide ball to Arjen Robben, giving the dangerous winger all the time he wanted to hit a perfect cross to Ibrahimovic. Ibra controlled the cross easily and slid a pass across the box to Messi, who tapped in an easy finish with his right foot. Coming forward yet again a minute later, the Australians were lucky as David Alaba's cross was blocked, but it ended up with Lionel Messi anyway. Messi launched a shot from an absurd angle, but it deflected off Lahm as he dived in to block it. De Gea jumped over the ball and it ended up in the back of the net. After a tidy finish from Messi and a Lahm own goal, the score was 2-2 at 70 minutes.

Both sides made changes, with Sergio Ramos replacing Pique in the 70th, and Marco Reus replacing an unimpressive Ronaldo in the 83rd for England. Robben was taken off for Neymar in the 84th minute for Australia. In the 89th minute, Neymar whipped in a dangerous corner that landed at the feet of Hummels. His strong left foot volley was blocked on the line by Jordi Alba, but De Gea dived for it anyway. With the keeper still on the ground, the ball rebounded into the lap of Paul Pogba, who finished into basically an open net.

I then made a huge tactical mistake of going contain, inviting a heap of pressure from the English in the last couple of minutes. England came forward again and again, even having a huge Suarez penalty shout turned down. In the end though, Australia held on for a lucky 3-2 victory. Thanks CraigWL for the great game.

The Aussies are victorious in the First Test of the FM-Base Ashes.

Hi guys, I'm the Aussie in question. I originally said I wasn't gonna post and just let Lippo do it, but I figured I may as well commit to this fully :)

Just wondering if the last 2 games even need to be played for this Test?

The Australians have a 5th for the second test!

Our new team mate will be legendary Aussie, & FM Scout staff member, Feliks! Be afraid English, very afraid! :)

Now, because of the competitive nature between the 2 sites, i will be posting Feliks' results for him. For anyone that would like to now more about Feliks, head over to FM Scout. I wont link but you all know where to find them, its a great site.

For competitors wishing to add him to your steam friends, you will find him in my friends list as fzemdegs or the like, look for the pic of Heskey :P

Haha, beat me to the punch!

Well, Yeti will definitely play disclaimer but I think Matt should get a bye & England 3 points. In a real test you can't just replace a player mid game so stands to reason you can't here either.

Be ready for the 2nd test though......

Welcome to the team Feliks! You're going to enjoy winning the Ashes with us! :D

So am I getting an automatic win in the first round? And is that England's only win so far? :D

Sounds like I'm the MVP of this England team :D

I think that's the case, unless you want to play Feliks in round one. Either way it probably doesn't matter too much

England will get 3 points either way but feel free to play Feliks if you would like a run out.

Unless Discliamer beats Yeti you may well be the English player of the test :P

Also, Godfish, would it be possible to link Feliks to the team download file? I have had to clear my inbox so no longer have it...
