Schalke 04 - October Review

It has been a brilliant month for Schalke. Losing just one game this month against Stuttgart but still beating Koln away from home, Dortmund away from home and Nurnberg away from home! The Champions League has been a success, beating BATE away from home. But, don't think that fans at the VELTINS Arena were disappointed with home form. Wins against HSV and Hannover eradicated a bad month in front of the home crowd. Huntelaar has worked miracles this month. 6 goals for the striker, scoring 5 in the league to confound any critics about his lack of league form. His tally has now risen to 13 goals in all competitions, 7 in the league. Raúl scored 4 goals in the German Cup after a 4-1 win at Hannover, taking his tally to 5 for the club. Raúl has come alive in the German Cup, leading the competition's scoring charts. Schalke sit 2nd in the Champions League and look good to go through. In the league, Schalke have come alive. They have scored 12 goals in the league which propels them up to 1st place with 25 points, 4 points ahead of Leverkusen in 2nd. In really has been an amazing month at Gelsenkirchen!

'Miracle Man' Huntelaar has confounded critics over his league form this month and now sits in joint 2nd in the scoring charts.

Schalke 0-1 Stuttgart
Nurnberg 0-4 Schalke (Farfán 2, Huntelaar, Schafer o.g.)
Dortmund 0-1 Schalke (Jones pen)
BATE 0-2 Schalke (Yurevich o.g., Huntelaar) (Champions League)
Schalke 3-0 HSV (Huntelaar 2, Rakitic)
Schalke 4-1 Hannover (Raúl 4) (German Cup)
Koln 3-4 Schalke (Huntelaar 2, Donadel, Rakitic)

'Four goal superstar' New signing Raúl celebrates a stunning quadruple against Hannover in the German Cup.

It has been the month to remember for Schalke fans everywhere. However, everyone is talking about one man. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. The Dutch striker has finally picked up his league form and continued scoring goals in the Champions League. He has scored some out of this world strikes and 5 assists also says something about the amount of goals he lays on for his team. If Huntelaar continues this form, it is likely that he'll see a move away from the VELTINS Arena. Another player on fine form has been Jefferson Farfán. He doesn't assist often but he plays incredibly well every game and his unforgettable brace against Nurnberg will be remembered for a long while yet!

'Don't forget me!' Even with the form of Huntelaar this month, Farfán's incredible goals against Nurnberg will not be forgotten, earning the right winger 'Player of the Week'

Martin O'Neill does deserve praise for his work at Schalke. Top of the league by 4 points has surprised many, especially knowing how tight the German Bundesliga is. He is certainly getting the best out of Farfan, Huntelaar, Baumjohann, Metzelder and Rakitic, all have been on fine form once again this month. Rakitic has found the net twice this month and the youngster looks like a fine career is looming. Surely it won't be long before Barcelona or Chelsea come sniffing around for him? For now, Rakitic and co. will want to continue their fine form and keep Schalke at the top of the table. Martin O'Neill can have no complaints.

'More, more more!' The Schalke fans are coming to love their new English manager and he is adapting quickly to the different style of game.

Raul has been slightly inconsistent. It is Huntelaar that is poor for me....If I sell, he is a guaranteed money-maker:D

I will get October up later, but will update it more tomorrow.

he is a money maker but if you get him scoring, hes also imo the best poacher on the game

Second consecutive hat-trick for Huntelaar

Another outstanding performance from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar provided Schalke with another win. Huntelaar opened the scoring with a diving header, before Metzelder made it two, after punting the ball in from a corner scramble. Huntelaar broke through again after half-time, with a fantastically weighted strike. Player of the Month

There could only be one player for this month's award. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is finally showing his pedigree, scoring two hat-trick in consecutive games. His recent performances are picking up, and will certainly have new found belief in his ability at this level.
