25 year old right back Majid Ibrahim Surour is injured for 8 weeks. He was a crucial player in our win against Brunei. Hopefully he comes back stronger.
I told you so about Wigan Athletic. They just did not have enough to compete this season. They finished 15th. I resigned because I did not want to see regression in the team I am managing and in my own managerial career. They did not have the funds to compete. Lee Johnson was hired afterwards, after just less than four months in charge he got sacked because he also realized what he walked into. Then Wigan hired Steve Evans, who has done a good enough job so far, stabilizing Wigan with a few decent results here and there. Maybe it will work out for them. I will keep making updates about my former clubs and countries I have managed too.
Oh we are totally screwed. Omar Abdulrahman, one of the big players of the UAE national team is now injured for 3 months. Now I hope we can get in some good performances from the rest of the team whether we play in friendlies soon or competitive games.
I have applied for the Celtic job. It is a huge club. A more attainable job than Atletico Madrid for sure. But let's see what happens. I am not quitting the UAE job though. I will stay on the foreseeable future.
Then came a job opportunity which I was very fascinated by, Wycombe Wanderers. It has suffered a double relegation. First from the Championship. And now from League One. Can I be the manager who reverses a culture of failure?
I have decided to apply for another opportunity. Marseille. A big club in France with a proud history. It is an interesting opportunity to help the club get back to a top level, possibly challenging PSG for the title.
Another job I applied for is the Shabab Al-Ahli job. Frankly speaking this is a job of convenience. As per the save, I am the manager of UAE currently. This club is one of the top clubs in the UAE, it gives me a good vantage point to scout UAE based players. And also the club is competing in the Asian Champions League which is the biggest continental competition in Asia.
The 2021/22 season in most countries is over. So we will do a season round-up. It will consist first of all the relevant leagues according to where I am managing, which is the UAE.
UAE Professional League: Al-Wahda (UAE)
UAE First Division: Ajman
UAE Super Cup: Al-Ain
UAE President's Cup: Al-Nasr (UAE)
Asian Champions League 2021 winner: Al Duhail (2022 edition is still going on)
Asian Confederation Cup 2021 winner: Hutteen (2022 edition is still going on)
Premier League: Liverpool
La Liga: Barcelona
Bundesliga: Bayern Munich
Serie A: Juventus
Ligue 1: PSG
Portuguese Premier League: Benfica
Eredivisie: Ajax
Scottish Premiership: Rangers
Champions League: Liverpool
Europa League: Real Madrid
Europa Conference League: AC Milan
English FA Cup: Manchester City
Carabao Cup: Newcastle
I also made a last ditch effort to get the Bayer Leverkusen job in Germany. It is a big enough club, but some of the other projects were more attractive.
Good time to quit the UAE job maybe. With players getting injured and lack of fixtures to make them a competitive team, it looks like my managerial touch is fading. We have fallen down to 75th in the world rankings after initially rising to 71st. But I will probably fight on. The Shabab Al-Ahli job is a good place to start, to scout UAE based players. A convenient job, if I get it I will be pleased.
Wycombe Wanderers have approached me. Impressive budget for League two level. We can compete. I am going to delay this as I am waiting for the response on the Shabab Al-Ahli job.
