No Mo potentially the NY. AFCON back during the season again this year. 13/ 1 through 11/ 2.

The mid-season PL break helps, if still not ideal. But that's the global football calendar now.

At least it's a lot better mitigated for this time given we have 4 other top draw attackers. We'll have a plan in place for this and be sound.

Fingers crossed Mo is away for the full duration and finally leads his Country to International honours.

F state of BT Sport man. 🤦‍♂️

Yeah, as ‘surprising’ an answer as the same one Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Pep Guardiola, Johan Cruyff, Jose Morinho, Thierry Hemry, Alessandro Del Piero, Fabio Cannavaro, Kevin De Bruyne et al have given.

But Bob from Burnley and Steve from Sheffield tweet its **** so there you go. 🙄

Just like this guy who replied to the tweet 😂

Rat should gave had a life ban. But its a start.

Just like Calvin Ramsey's yesterday, another excellent loan to a really solid football club we have a super relationship with. With the added benefit of it being another attacking football playing, localised loan where it's not difficult to keep constant eyes on. All of which isn't decided by chance.

Made up to see another Academy grad starting their embryonic path into the full pro men's game. Always like a young goalie in particular getting invaluable development experience in the full throttle, rough and tumble, anything goes, fella's fighting for their livelihood's lower leagues. The fact it's another Scouser playing in the football league is just added pride. All the best mate to a successful season showcasing your talent. Work your backside off and do everything the coaches at Crewe ask of you.

Like Calvin, who gets to make up for lost time after his horribly unlucky first season with injuries, with serious game-time in the Championship; there's a real opening for a back-up slot here down the line up for grabs.

Busy mad day so just finally going through the fixtures. A few observations-

Liverpool FC — Revealed: Liverpool's 2023-24 Premier League fixture list

Chelsea away opening day. Perfect to lay down a marker.

Loving Brighton and Brentford defo being Sunday down to the first two International breaks.

Love, love LOVE Christmas! 3 home games and Burnley away a short hop on Boxing Day is perfect. Gutted there's no NY's games.

5 home games after EL games is a massive bonus. Hopefully we are away somewhere on MD2 where we can fly back to a Southern airport for Brighton away.

All scheduled midweek games, right now, before TV ruins it, are at home and a short journey over to Sheffield

Palace home the memorial weekend is perfect as they'll be 100% respectful as always.

Luton home on LC Final weekend is another plus if we're in the final with just a home midweek to rearrange.

City away first finally for once! Wolves home last day. AGAIN! With both Sheff Utd games strangely midweek.

Nice opening and closing 10 game runs.

All in all a pretty darn good outcome for once fixture wise.

Another success story out of Kirkby.

Proper tidy little footballer, and someone who always comes across as a genuinely.nice lad. Who’s now moved permanently to the top league in Scotland after a 6 goal, 8 assist season saw him voted Aberdeen’s Young Player of the Year.

You get as much pride out of watching the completion of these lads development stories as you do the ones that stick here.

All the best Leighton lad. Bar the games against Aberdeens hated rivals Rangers, I’ll be rooting for you. Thanks for all your commitment to the cause here.

Sepp van den Berg not going to European Championships, Sambo is his replacement | UsOrange (onsoranje.nl)

Sledgehammer blow for Orange Under 21: centre-back misses European Championship due to injury - Football first (voetbalprimeur.nl)

Man alive has that young man been unlucky with injury. Devoed for him. The U21 Euro's would have been another great development experience.

From his natural, early struggles here in not only a completely new football environment, but his frst ever time away from home, his development has been marked. He always had that classily aesthetic, ball playing technical elegance on the ball that is a Dutch trait. With pace to go with it. Just he was wasn't physically developed or ready for the rigours of the English game. Particularly in the air. But that inspired loan at Preston over 2 seasons saw him come on in leaps and bounds as the physicality of the Championship both toughened him up and gave him far better defensive awareness of the aerial game in England. With the added bonus that he showed he is equally adept at right full with his attacking prowess. Which, given the way we were evolving the last third of last season, his skill set looks perfect to be a long term squad depth option for the right-CH/ right-full hybrid. He played a lot as the right side of a middle three at Deepdale. I specifically watched a good few of their games through that spell and he was a real standout.

Then you get the horribly unfortunate break that more or less made last years step up loan to the Bundesliga a complete write-off. And now, just as he's looking back to starting again, this. Horrible luck.

Hears hoping it's not a bad tear and he'll be ready to join in this pre-season to see just where he's now at in his development.

Seems Trent absolutely bossed it for England in midfield on Friday night then.

I am so intrigued to see how this all plays out. Not least where Thuram plays? (And any other midfielder they might still add. The Celta Vigo lad as an attacking mid looks a heck of an exciting prospect still well young enough to mould if those rumours are true. I'd love him to be the third addition.).

I doubt we move Trent from right-full per se. Just give him license to invert when the opposition allows, Mac Allister looks like he has the physical make-up of Mo to play the vast majority of games. But outside of him, I don't think we'll have a 'top' midfield that starts per se. Just a similar level group of starting calibre, excellent, exciting young players where the drop-off won't be noticeable when you interchange them. Bajetic, Jones, Elliott all adding quality young legs to the two new additions. Cody dropping deeper ala Bobby. Does Thuram become more of a 6? Or the progressive, defensive 8 he's wowed Ligue 1 in at Nice?

I also think you'll see a lot more of Henderson and Fabinho (Thiago too if he ever stays fit), in the first half of the season whilst the new, young recruits get up to speed. Oh yeah, and number 66 doing his thing inside when the game flow allows.

It's a really exciting prospect this. Not least as we still don't know what he's got in mind pre-season and exactly what style of football we'll be playing next season as he evolves this on another level again.
