This in a nutshell! Which is why the media fawning over Liverpool is frankly too much for me to bear

Actually, I'm not against media fawning over Liverpool. They were literally nobody before the start of the season, from there there they've almost won it, and ****, may even do so even now (much as I don't really like seeing it =P). That sort of stuff will immediately catch the media's fancy, so yes, they were bound to receive media attention. What I dislike is calling a particular brand of football "good football" or something of the sort, while branding other styles as "anti-football" or the like.

Sorry, but all I hear at the moment is the media fawning over Stones and Barkley right now (H)

The Chelsea fans are becoming tedious and boring

The fact is Liverpool were expected to 'challenge' at the most for a top four spot.. We are now 'likely' to finish 2nd in the Premier League.. Its been a fantastic season and i couldn't be much happier

>_> I did say that it has been a fantastic season, and that media attention was but natural;; and no, I'm not a Chelsea fan.

There is no 'good' football as such. It doesn't matter whether you play full blown defensive, full blown attacking or a combination of the two. That's the ****** beauty of football, there are different styles, types and tactics of playing. There is what is pleasing to the neutrals, but that doesn't make any style of football frickin' good or not good. I'm constantly annoyed by the usage of terms 'anti-football' and 'good football' - Where the **** is it mentioned what exactly is good football?

You want to call anything anti-football? It would be disgraceful fouls (WC finals anyone?), intimidating the referee (every ****** team), racism **** (Suarez, Terry?), inherently injuring people (biting ears?).. That is anti football. Calling any style of football in a similar line is utter **** and idiocy.

I'v never seen you post anything in here before but that sir is brilliant!

No-one has said Liverpool haven't done well this season mate if we did then we would be lying simple as that, they have overachieved and deserve praise for doing so. I'm just saying some of the media coverage has been embarrassing stories such as "If Liverpool win the title then Gerrard will be Premier League's best player ever" and "The real Captain-Leader-Legend is Gerrard not Terry". The number of Liverpool based "pundits" and i use that term as loosely as Katie Price's **** who spout pure and utter rubbish week in week out. Its things like that and the shear amount of Liverpool fans who are absolutely unbearable winners amongst other things which makes me delighted it won't be Liverpool lifting that trophy on Sunday.

You know what, apart from our 'superior' style of football, I've give you five other reasons why the media are fawning over us:
1. We actually use our youth academy/youth players.
2. We actually use English players.
3. Steven Gerrard deserves to win the Premier League, there can be no arguments about that.
4. We have an astute young manager in Brendan Rodgers.
5. We were almost the only team to win the Premier League after finishing outside of the Top 4 the previous season.

I'm not surprised, to be honest, they're top players.

Agreed. The United fans have actually been gracious in accepting that we've had a good season, and that the squad/manager deserves praise, but it seems some of the Chelsea fans on the forum are ****-bent on belittling our achievements.

1) Plenty of clubs use their youth academy players. Manchester United for one ... How in the world is this mutually exclusive to you?

2) So does Southampton ... Again it isn't mutually exclusive to you

3) Lol ... I deserve to win the Ballon D' Or myself

4) So?

5) Good for you. Let's just ignore the fact that major changes happened this season which accelerated your rise to the top of th table

tbh I don't think anyone actually belittled your achievements. Everyone agreed that you had a great season but it's just hilarious to see how the mood on this thread has dropped drastically after the Chelsea and Palace game. All that smugness and YNWA bullshit out of the window .... I love it!

1. They got credit for using youth.
2. They got credit for using English players.
3.

4. AVB, and Porto, got respect when they won the treble, so why shouldn't Rodgers?
5. Cool. You can use all this 'so many new managers...squad needs time to get used to his methods' excuse, or the 'you played less games this season' excuse, as many times as you want, but how come we capitalised on it and Arsenal/Spurs didn't? Oh wait, it's because we're better than them, which is deserving of respect.

I swear some of you Chelsea fans get more satisfaction out of seeing a rival lose than seeing your own team win?

1. Flanagan, Gerrard and Sterling the main ones who play regularly, so just the three? Its hardly Barca is it?
2. Not the only side to use English players, i never remember Chelsea getting recognition when we had 5 players in the England squad or Pompey when they had 5 England regulars too.
3. How just how? Many of fantastic players have never won the league so just why is Gerrard any different?

What Chelsea fan on here has said you haven't been good this season? And you do deserve praise 100% but it went way way over the top it started to become sickening. Having said that in a way i'm glad it did reach a new level of high on the vomitometer because in the end your fans got carried away selling "Premier League Champions" t-shirts outside Anfield and all hype and hope killed you in the end.

Not sure what the JT picture brings to the argument but hay. And no, i am more annoyed we didn't win the league and will finish below Liverpool of course i am. But i just didn't want them to win it its simple.

1. True, but it's still a lot more than most teams at the top. And it's not just about who's playing regularly, it's the fact that Rodgers has proved that he's willing to give youth a chance (the likes of Suso and Brad Smith have also been given a chance under Rodgers).
2. Well maybe teams in the past didn't get the recognition they deserved for playing English players, but teams like Southampton have this season, so why shouldn't we?
3. This is like your argument for point two. You can't justify things by what's happened in the past, it's like saying (albeit a lot less serious) "killing Jews is OK because Hitler did it 70 years ago". Just because top players didn't win to trophies they deserved, doesn't mean they shouldn't.

And I agree perhaps some fans were too confident, but that's natural considering the achievement it wouldn't been, had it happened.

It was a bit inappropriate, but then again so is trying to refute the fact that Gerrard is a top player.

Yeah Suso and Smith have been given a chance or two but so has Kalas and Baker for Chelsea, nothing said. And all teams deserve the same recognition for playing home grown players and its poor the recognition has only started now when the England team are struggling to produce brilliant players in numbers.

But no-one made this sort of fuss when others didn't win it that's the point. But because its Steven "loyalty, england captain, never in trouble outside of football" Gerrard then people make a huge fuss over it.

You load of boring *****.

We're getting media attention because we were predicted to finish about seventh, we're currently second, and still hold a possibility to win the league, albeit a very small chance.

As i said you deserve media attention, but it went way too far.

If the reason Stevie gets so much respect is because he's not in trouble, then surely that's good news? People deserve respect for staying in line, that's why Suarez has often got so much abuse.

So has Katie Price ******** her way to the most viewed BBC article.

These things happen, these things pass. Last year everyone lost their **** at Dortmund, barely anyone talks about them now.

The man involved in a punch up in a bar caught on CCTV???? In my eyes off the field incidents should not matter, they are footballers so we should judge them on their football why should i care if they sleep around how does it effect me in any way? I never slated Giggs for what he done, Rooney for what he done and Terry for what he done. And all of Suarez's incidents happen on the pitch that's why he deserves the bad press he gets.

And its wrong, that's all i'm saying. Some of the stories written were comical.
